Use it or lose it theory…

Remember yesterday when I spoke about the advice my sister’s doctor gave to her.  I have heard that statement many times through the years.  I thought it would be fun to Google ‘use it or lose it’, so I did.  Try it, you will be amazed at what you see.  That is the theory that I try to apply to my life.  I am not a spring chicken but I refuse to believe that I am an old hen.  When you start thinking old you begin to feel old and that is the beginning of the end.

We can either sit on our bottom ends 24/7 or we can get up and move around and keep going.  That is what I choose to do.  Listen to the song I have playing, it is a song from the 70s sung by Charlie Rich.  Never heard of him you say, well that is OK, just turn on your speakers and take minute to listen to the song.  “I ain’t never growing old, I’ll keep on rollin’ with the flow.”  If we keep this thought fixed firmly in our minds we can keep on going, even when the going gets very tough.  I have faced tough challenges many times in my life, never more so than I have in the last years.

I picked myself up and kept moving forward and you all can do that too.

Now, to get back to mundane things, which one reader told me once that no one was interested in, the weather.  The weather interests me very much as does your weather.  Now for my weather, for the second day in a row the sun is shining brightly and it is not as cold as yesterday, checking in at 12 degrees so the wind chill is not bad.

Our Sears store here is closing in March and today is the first day of the clearance sales.  I am going there with my daughter this morning.  I have in mind to buy a sewing machine.  I have been thinking about this since I moved here.  I have hemmed two sets of curtains by hand and that is getting old.  Even if I use it only for that type of thing I think it would come in handy.  I used to sew a lot when the children were small.

Gotta run now.  I hope today is one of the best days in your life.  For my friends in Australia, you remain always in my thoughts and prayers.

Red heart  Beth

  1. Hi Beth,

Yes, think young, or try to anyway, is my motto too. Our weather is very wet and some places in England are being given flood warnings. I havent heard from or of Kerrie, since Tuesday, but by what I have read in other places, I think she is probably without phone or power. She and the rest of her fellow Queenslanders remain in my thoughts and prayers too. The scenes and stories on our news bulletins, (Every one at the moment) are heart rending.

Take care - Hugs - Nita.

  2. Our Sears store closed down here years ago and that was the beginning of the end of the mall it was in. They open up a small satellite one in a strip mall on the I system corridor but to get a bigger selection we have to travel north. Not only is the weather interesting it's a good converstation starter, lol. Keeping the prayers going for those in Australia and the other places of tragedy.

  3. Morning Dear Friend, well finally were getting sunshine, gives a lift after all the deary dark cold snowy days. Love your page here so pretty and bright to greet us, besides listening to your Country music that I love. I always loved listening to Charlie Rich. Great song to play at this time. Yes,I am ready for Spring, day dreaming about it, thats all I can do for now. lol Bought one of those EdenPure heater and sure helps with the fuel as with Syd gone I don't do the wood any more. Do miss the heat it gave, but it just me and I ROLL WITH THE FLOW, LOL As for Australia, I have a FB friend that none of us have heard from and are concerned, As the last time he was telling us about it and sent us thier news about it saw pictures was really BAD that he felt crying. So we hope he and family are ok and maybe out helping, just have to wait and pray for all. Crazy weather all over the world. Any way you have great weekend. Love you!

  4. Good Morning my dear Twin.

I'm like you. I never did reach 40 years of age. As I used to say in my MSN blog, I am 17..and no one can convince me otherwise. I'm so glad you feel better! :-)

I too got back to the treadmill and weights. I fudged due to other concerns but those concerns aren't making me strong and healthy. The weights etc are.

  6. Beth, you gorgeous hunk 'o woman, you, you couldn't get "old" if you tried! And I love weather, too -- why, without weather, where would we be?
What is this about Sears closing where you are? If it's closing there, it will be closing in a lot of places. Sears has been around forever and I can't imagine being without it. Who will carry Craftsman tools for heaven's sake? I've bought every tool and lawnmower and garden whatchamacallits from them ever since I can remember. Sad day if these closing keep on, I tell ya :(
Hey, thanks for taking the time to go see Sam & Lucy's page :D It's not easy keeping up with everyone, I know that, but you took that time and that was so, so nice. What was I thinking making another blog? Must be crazy. But I can lay the blame on a mutual friend (HEAR THIS, CAROLE?)Ramblingon and Admiral Hestrobe. She's killin' me. I'm signing out and signing in every other second. Sigh.
    XOXOXO

  8. I know for sure that people parish without vision so for me I try to keep a vision out there. Lately this hasn't been very hard since we've got a lot going on throughout this year and I'm deeply involved in it. You're right...sitting around and letting life pass you by is a recipe for death and I'm not about ready for that yet! Even if a person doesn't have massive things out there being thankful for all you've got is a great tool...at least it surely has been for me! Have a wonderful day my friend.
