Scott Altman, Bronzed…

Scott Altman, a former NASA astronaut and Pekin native looks good in bronze.  http://www.pjstar.com/news/x1664570021/Altman-hopes-new-bust-inspires-next-generation

The Tazewell County Museum unveiled a bust of Altman Sunday afternoon.  Altman flew four space shuttle missions, logging more than 51 days in space, and was commander of the final two Hubble Space missions before leaving  NASA in 2010.  The bust was created by artist Morgan Elser from Delavan IL.  I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Altman’s mother at the cookie exchange I went to last December.  She is a lovely, gracious lady.

It is still a pretty dreary day at 34 degrees right now.  I am having difficulty getting used to the new time and I think some of the iPhones are too.  I read in the paper where some of the phones changed the time back an hour instead of forward an hour and people were late getting to church, etc.  I do hate the time change.  I say leave it one way or the other.

The Spring Countdown stands right this minute at 6 days, 9 hours, 17 minutes and 24 seconds.  Open-mouthed smile

I hope you all are having a good start to the week.  Stay safe and be happy.

Red heart  Beth

  1. That's quite the honor for him. I always wanted to go to outer space and be the first women astronaut but I was busy having kids lol.
I wish they would leave the time alone too.
    Have a good day Beth!

  3. That's quite an honor for Scott Altman. Sounds like he's nice, too.
I'm all for leaving the time and not changing it. Did a search and found there is no measurable difference as far as saving energy and whatever reason they do it. After all, how does taking an hour off the beginning of the day and adding to the end make it any longer???
    Have a good week!

  4. Dropeed by for a 'calm' moment at your lovely blog. We're changing our clocks in a couple of weeks time...I always find it disorientating for a day or two. My iPhone changed the time automatically for us in France and as I had no idea it had done it I kept mentally adding an hour to the time thinking it was on GMT and kept Hubby up late as a consequence for three nights in a row :)
Many thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I especially enjoyed reading the comments while I was away. I got terrible withdrawals not being able to visit blogs as I usually do so it's great to be back.
Hope the weather brightens soon for you - it's misty again here today - either that or i've forgotten to clean my spectacles again!
    Fondest wishes
    Carol

  7. What a wonderful and well deserved honor for him. I'm so glad you posted about this. It's bright, cheering and shows someone put there has there head on straight for once to accord this honor. GREAT!
