Oh what a beautiful day, I’ve got a beautiful feeling, everything’s going my way. This song just came into my head this morning as I was out and about town. It is a bright sunshiny day at 48 degrees right now. Everything Spring is popping out. The tulip trees and flowering shrubs are in full bloom. The trees are leafing out. It is just gorgeous today. I love the Spring of the year with the promise of new beginnings and hope for the future. I am truly thankful to be here to enjoy it.
I have been to Kroger and Aldi. Grocery prices are getting as outrageous as the gasoline. Can you believe a jar of Miracle Whip is $3.99. Some things I will buy generic or store brand, but salad dressing or mayo I will not. Gas at Casey’s this morning was $3.84 a gallon although most places around town it is $3.89 and higher. It is well over $4 a gallon in Chicago where my son lives. I don’t live close enough to any of the stores to walk there.
Sunday was an extremely hot humid day. I didn’t turn on the AC although I was really tempted. Believe me the next hot day I will. Today the furnace kicked on.
I hope you all are out enjoying this beautiful day. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
Like you,we had very hot and humid days but now..it's raining and overcast (of course) and we may get to 63 for a high. We have been well above normal for a little while. This is more like the way it's supposed to be,.
ReplyDeleteI saw a 4.99 box of CEREAL! Um..no. Our gas is similar in price to yours. Ice cream, the decent tasting brands can be as much as 6 dollars. No way, Jose. I am particular so I won't eat store and off brands. I just do without.
a 11 oz. "pound" of well known coffee's like Maxwell House,Folgers, and so on coffee has shrunk even more to 10. whatever oz. now. Some of the house brands are still 11 oz. Close to 4$ a "pound" too. It's a gyp.

Well I had my rant on your previous post about the ever growing high costs of everyday essentials, particularly fuel prices. So I'd better not get myself going again. By the way, what was that $99 sticker fee for your car?
ReplyDeleteWent out this morning to do some errands too and one station had $3.81. On the way back from another direction it was $3.77. Guess where we filled up.
ReplyDeleteI know, it seems every where you go things are more expensive. I hate it. I simply won't buy some things but others I need. It's getting warmer here, been cleaning up the yard. No trees or flowers blooming yet, although the tulips are about 3" high now. Have a great one.

@ for Kerrie. The $99 fee is for a little sticker that you purchase each year to put on your license plate. Insurance for the car is mandatory but we purchase it through an insurance company like State Farm and for my car which is a 2002 it runs around $600 a year.
ReplyDeleteHi Beth,
ReplyDeleteGlad you experiencing beautiful mornings. I had to smile when I saw what you had written, everything is going my way. It doesn't feel like that for me at the moment, but I can still smile and feel God does have it all in hand. I smiled broadly this morning, when I heard a good friend at church had her baby girl, right on time and all was well. I have just had an email from my brother saying they are going to be grandparents again, so two lots of good news in one day. I told Peter their life was about to get busier and busier, from one who knows!! lol - Hugs Nita.
We had three glorious beautiful sunny days in a row. It hit anywhere from 78 - 80 each day. But today we are back down to around 50 and it has rained on and off all day. But I agree with you, Oh what a beautiful day. Simply because it is a gift from God.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful days and high prices have been around since God created beautiful days and man created high prices.
ReplyDeleteWe should take the time to enjoy the beautiful days.

Blessings.....
ReplyDeleteWell you wanted warmth now you got it.....
enjoy it, you know it will go in and out until the heat is really here......
Well your weather may be better but at least our gas is .30 cheaper! Prices are on the rise. Our local paper said it's beginning to really effect people's driving habits etc. Paying double what we used to simply to fill the gas tank is really hard on us now though we have a small car. No matter what the prices are I will feel rich for having known you my friend. Bless you.
ReplyDeleteA lovely day glad it put a spring in your step Beth. Everything is so much more these days, I went to the supermarket this morning oh my just for a few bits and peices. Enjoy your lovely weather Hugs Sheila x
ReplyDeleteWe're having 40's at night and I have the heat on now. I dread buying gas next time. It's around $3.69 and up.
ReplyDeleteSpring is my favorite time of year...love watching everything come back to life. A lot of things blooming around here. The birds are all acting rather twitterpated. :) It's just a wonderful time of year!
ReplyDeleteNice to hear that you have been enjoying some nice weather that has you outdoors. The weather here was nice until today... we had snow. Seriously. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/index.php?product=weather&placecode=camb0244&switchto=f So much for Spring here in southern Manitoba, Canada. Brrr!
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to your rant about the prices of groceries on the rise. Geeesh! I remember eating nothing more than 'beans and wieners' when I was in university because that's all I could afford... those days are coming back.
