has been out gallivanting around town. First to get my hair cut, then to pay my cable and heating/electric bill. Prices have gone up for everything.
It is beautiful out today, 61 degrees right now, to get in the mid 70s. I have filled my planter with potting soil and filled up around the lamp in my front yard with new soil. Last year I planted petunias, red, white and blue ones. This year I am thinking about geraniums for the planter and marigolds for around the lamp since Pekin is the Marigold Capital of the world.
One thing I don’t like about marigolds is that they stink. But that’s ok ‘cause I won’t be outside sniffing them.
I need to close for now as I am getting ready to go to 8th Street Station aka Grumpy Pete’s for lunch. I will be sure to eat a bite for you all.
Beth
Wonderful shot!
ReplyDeleteDiggin in the dirt and planting flowers will put ah smile on your face. I'm having sandwich an yogurt for lunch....and you? Happy there's some change left over to eat out after paying utility bills. They keep going up don't they?
ReplyDeleteMarigolds are supposed to keep the bugs away, so I think that is a good reason to plant them. They do smell kind of bad, but they are so cheery.
ReplyDeleteoh TWIN! I LOVE marigolds and their smell. At last, we are not on the same page. :-)
ReplyDeletexoxoxo
PS I'm also going out but for supper. Hungry already.
Can't wait to plant my petunias...now if only we would get one full sunny day! Blessings, Joanne
ReplyDeletehaha. u see everything has flaws even beautiful plants/flowers.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoying the weather
Wow! I don't likes stink smell but it seems everybody is differents Carole's said she loved the smell of marigolds lol!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your gardening.
Morning from across the pond Beth, though by your post we could be neighbours, weather..much the same, price rises...same here, planting geraniums,,,, got a lead on you ;-), The only nice thing about Marigolds is the colour, I love orange colours, but as you say, they stink, but as your friend says they attract bugs away from other plants, which is good for the birds.
ReplyDeletePetunias are very pretty, till it rains, and unfortunately these lovely delicate petals just disintegrate.
I hope you enjoyed your lunch at Grumpy Pete's, LOL I love these names you Americans have for food places. Ours are more usually named after the place where they do business, That's an idea for a blog, hmmm I'll think about it.
Thanks for stopping by and your sympathetic reply re Tango. hugs Arlene
Yes Beth they do indeed stink the only good thing about the Marigold is the lovely colours. They are quite easy to look after as well , and as your friend said keep away the bugs. Grumpy Pete's I always chuckle when you mention that place Hugs Sheila hope you had a wonderful lunch. :) x
ReplyDeletePrices, yuck! It's getting so you won't be able to do anything the way it's going. Cable is just out of site. I'm not for the smell of marigolds either, but they are pretty.
ReplyDeleteAwe, and here I thought you were going to post a pic of your new hair do. :( I am sure that you looking beautiful. Don't you find it annoying when you tell people that you were out paying bills and they reply with something along the lines 'Oh, if I would have known, I would have given you mine.'. Yeah, right!? But for the record, mine are on the top of my fridge. Just saying, in case you were curious.
ReplyDeleteI like your choices in flowers, hope you have fun planting them. I think we should change your name to 'Ms. Greenthumbs.'
