A big flake…

or a little flake?  I can’t figure out  the difference between oatmeal that has big flakes or oatmeal that has little flakes.  I do know the big flake oatmeal has a heftier price tag on it.  I recently bought the big flake oatmeal going under the assumption that bigger is better.  And you know what? it does taste different.  I am not a big fan of oatmeal, never have been, never will be.  There comes a time in one’s life when we have to do (or eat) things that we don’t want to.  Since my last fasting lab was not good cholesterol wise I have been eating oatmeal at least once a day, sometimes twice a day.  Some days it gets very discouraging, and then I think stroke or heart attack and I dig into that bowl of oatmeal again.  Like I said, the big flake oatmeal tastes different, not necessarily better, just different.  I don’t believe it is worth the difference in price so I won’t buy it again.

I got the cough syrup prescription and last night I slept all night long and didn’t start coughing till this morning.  I feel a ton better.  It is amazing what some sleep will do.

I had to park my car around front yesterday as we were told maintenance would be coming to do something to our parking area and driveway.  Didn’t happen so I am still parked around front.  I need to go to the store but I am afraid I will lose my parking spot.  Sad smile

You all stay safe and be happy!!

  1. Glad to here you got some rest. It does wonders for you doesn't it. I like oatmeal and try to eat things to help make sure cholesteral stays where it's suppose to. Don't always accomplish the proper eating but my doctor told me to take MegaRed pills and it is doing the job. I can't take any of the prescription ones and regular fish oil has a habit of coming back in the nastiest way. MegaRed is Krill and no aftertaste at all.

Wonder why they can never show up like their suppose to. Sometimes I think they live to inconvenience people.

  4. I'm glad that syrup worked for you. My last bout with a lung infection left me without relief from anything they gave me. My grandma used to use some smaller grain oatmeal that was really good but I seem to only have oatmeal when it's winter. I like the cinnamon spice variety that Quaker has. Have a good day my friend.

  7. Large oatmeal is better for you. The nutrition is better. Is it steel cut? The regular small stuff has had some of the good stuff milled out of it.

Hotter'n blue blazes here too and I spent a buncha money on those tires. Had to, to be safe. I used to have to go thru that parking place thing..I understamd. Maybe they did it today? I hope? HOORAY for the sleep. What kind of cough med was it? I know prescription but if I get into that ordeal again, I want to mention something that will work. Like yours. xoxox

  11. I never used to eat oatmeal, but last few years I have gotten to like it. I use the large grain, not the small instant kind. It is healthier for you, and the small kind always seems like mush! Try adding some raisens to it while cooking, then add some cinnamon, sugar and a dab of butter. It's yummy.

  12. It's hard to find the non instant kind of Oatmeal anymore. That's the kind you have to cook not just add hot water.

  13. I like the bigger flake oatmeal. I think it can get to be a bit dreary to eat oatmeal all the time. I was eating it for a time myself. I do enjoy it better if I 'doctor' it up a bit.

I hope you got an even better parking spot when you got home.

  14. I do like oatmeal, but sure would get tired of it everyday. I like the big stuff much better, mainly because of the texture. Glad you got a good nights sleep.
