This never ending heat…

is back with a vengeance.  But you know what, I think I am getting used to it.  I know to only go out in the early morning hours to grocery shop, etc.  For example today the temperature is only to reach 95 with humidity in the upper 70s, predicted heat index is only 106 to 110.  I shrugged that off thinking well, last week one day the heat index was 118.  I am OK as long as the air conditioner keeps plugging away.  I definitely do not like the ice and snow but I will honestly say that I am longing for fall.

Yesterday I was a busy beaver.  I changed the furniture around in the living room with back breaking results.  I should know never to do this.  I forget that I only have two bedrooms now, and not a third one to use as my computer room.  I have been looking at houses for sale here in town and dreaming, wondering if I want to get tied up in all of that mess again; taxes, etc.  I miss my washer and drier, the garage and the water softener.  Those things I miss almost as much as my old friends.

Speaking of old friends, I received a photo from Sandi last week.  Her husband Rex won 1st place at the Fisher Fair last week for his antique car.  Sandi and Rex are among the friends I miss most from home.  I feel sure they won’t mind if I show you the picture.  Click to make larger.

As you can see they are ST Louis Cardinal fans too!!  One reason I had to show this picture.  LOL
I need to get moving as I haven’t done my workout this morning as I overslept.  You all stay cool and be happy!

  1. That's quite a trophy he got! So, what kind of car did he get that for? I love antique cars, etc.---actually anything antique. Do you ever watch American Pickers? It usually follows Pawn Stars on Monday nights. GREAT SHOW! Enjoy summer, in spite of the excess heat---fall will be here soon!

  2. I'm sure it must be such an adjustment to not live in the same size home with all the amenities you had before. I sometimes wonder if I could ever give up all that goes with our home even though it is much larger than we need or even wish to care for.

Don't be moving that furniture. Try to stay cool.

  3. Dear Beth!
I read that you are really hot at your place. Although we have a real heat wave, maybe not like you, but suffice it to.
Hope all is well with you.
    Wish you a nice weekend!
    Take care
    Hugs

  4. Hi Beth,

Yesterday it was very cool here, I need cardi and jacket, today I ended up carrying both and still feeling hot. Ah well, anything is better than snow and ice.

    Hugs Nita.

  5. I'm thinking ahead to a smaller place a few years down the road. The idea of not having to think about a yard and a garden doesn't sound too bad. Or it probably won't by then.

  6. Beth you have to get those sliders that are put under the feet of furniture to move oh so easily.
Nice trophy your friends got. Downsizing has me in a tizzy here. Giving it all up for an apartment I think that rent money could be put to better use. But that's me, frugal. Take it easy, hot here too. Will be well into next week again.

  7. Well been here catching up on past blogs. Are you still going thru all the old photos. Oh what skinny waist we all had back in the day. We are having wonderful weather. Low this morning was 40. High is around 75 with a nice breeze. Not a cloud in the sky. Ok I won't brag to much. I remember when we at the Salton Sea in our motorhome with no power and it got 115 degrees. All we had was a mister around the awning which we sat under for a couple days till it cooled back down. Try have fruit shakes during the heat of the day. Just frozen fruit added to some yogurt and whirl in the blender. Watch the furniture moving. I have been over doing it lately and my back is on the sore side again. This weather just makes me want to get things done. Way tooo much. So now I have to take a break from working and just enjoy sitting here at the computer. Too bad I finished my book last night. Would be nice to sit out on my deck and just read. Wishing you wonderful weather like mine right now. Hugs Carrie

  8. I hope you all get a break in the weather soon. I won't even tell you how nice our weather's been here on the west coast for fear of everyone getting upset with me. And as soon as I start bragging we'll probably get hit with a heat wave!

God bless and have a great weekend :-)

  9. you are a tad hotter than we are. Actual temp was 97 yesterday..feels like low 100's..today likely the same.
Fall may bring us frigid weather though..winter came early last year.

  10. I'm glad you are start get used the hot weather,I 'd rather like hot weather than a cold weather because I get more time for the day from 6-00AM till 9-00PM but the winter time 9-00AM till five PM.

  11. When I was younger I thrived on summer heat but was lucky that winter weather never bothered me much. I still don't mind winter but this summer seems to be lasting forever now that I can't take the heat! It could be worse; Mom's actual temperature has hit 102 with 80% humidity 3 out of the past 5 days!

I am a home owner and I am seriously thinking of selling and moving back into a nice size condo here. I just can't keep up with the yard work, the home repairs and remodeling that I feel should be done, etc. At my age, I am just looking for comfort and convenience.

  14. My Mom moved out near me so I can care for her and she misses her washer and dryer so much. I take her clothes and wash them here. She hates the buildings laundry mat in fact sometimes she just washes the clothes by hand. she bought a wash board and says she can do a better job than my washing machine!she is so stubborn! :O)
