Winter Wonderland…

I woke up this morning to a heavy frost.  The ground between my back door and the cemetery was covered with a thick white frost.  The temp was 34 degrees.  It has climbed to 40 right now.  There have been a couple of patchy frosts the last few weeks, but this is the first official hard frost of the season.  This means that Indian Summer will follow.  If the forecast holds out as predicted that will come to pass.  The upper 70s and low 80s are predicted for this week.  This also means the dreaded yellow beetle will think it is summer again and each time we go outside they will be all over our clothes and in our hair.

The beetle I am talking about.

I am trying to get to feeling better.  Not feeling my best the last few days.  I even had to cut garage sales off on Friday.

I hope this is a good week for us all.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. wow frost already....and the photos are lovely. Goodness, the trees are just beginning to get yellow here, no frost but there is a bit of a bite in the air. You live near a cemetery? oooh, well am one to talk, where i live there is a funeral home opposite, a cemetry just southeast of that a bit further down, though one wouldn't know it as its surrounding by big trees. on the right of me there is a church, further north there are 2 other churches. people usually get creeped out and i tease and ssy, 'well i got it covered, the church, the funeral home and the cemetery, lol, lol.

take care have a fabulous sunday.

  3. It sure was nippy here this morning, 31 , we even turned the heat on for a bit. I love the pic of that tree but then I love trees anyway. I don't know what it is about them that draws my attention but they do.
Well have a great day. I hope you feel better soon.

  5. I'm sorry you are not feeling well Beth, I hope you feel better soon. Those beetles look cute but I'm sure there are not when tons of them are on you! Here we have the potato bug and they come in all different sizes...you know one is one you because their feet are prickly and they hurt when they walk on you. I hate them! That is real wacky weather you have out there! Here it's cooling off and right about now I start to wish I was in Florida! Take care of yourself I hope you can hit those Garage sales soon!
    Blessings, Joanne

  6. I still love fall the best. We don't get the snow here, but our fall is still colorful and cooler. Enjoy the chilliness and especially the vivid colors. Hope you'll feel better soon and be out and about again amongst the beautiful trees!

  7. Hi Beth,

I think we call these yellow ladybirds.

Have never had one in my hair though.

It has been so hot here, but feels cooler tonight. However I am at Amanda's her house is always cooler than my flat, which hit temps of 31/32 c last night.

Sorry you are not feeling well, hope you feel better soon.

    Hugs Nita

  8. Hi Beth, I love your beautiful Fall scenes. Your blog always looks wonderful.
It has been cold and raining here most of the weekend but no frost yet. Sure different than last weekend when I was in the park. Hopefully it will warm up again and the sun will shine again soon. Next weekend is our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.
Hope you are feeling better soon. I had a bit of a flu bug or something this past week and still not feeling up to par. I think sometimes the change of weather has something to do with it. Well take care and have a nice week.
    Dianne :)

  11. We call them Japanese beetles up here, as far as I know. Karma eats them. Then later she barfs. Has never put two and two together--LOL! I'm just glad I have that homemade screen with only a couple gaps so that we don't get very many on the porch.

What a gorgeous shot of the lake with the fall forest in all its glory! Ahhh! Love-love-love fall. Indian summer is here, too, for the next few days. I am so sorry you haven't been feeling well. I can empathize with you, as I haven't been up to snuff for a while myself. Hope you feel better soon! :):)

  12. Hope this finds you feeling better. Looking forward to the rise in temps., but not the darn beetles. The only thing about the the cold weather is we don't have to deal with them.

  13. The fall colors haven't started around here yet. There are a few trees turning but that's it. Today (Monday) has turned out to be lovely.
Hoping you fell better quickly. Can I get you a cup of tea?

  14. There's something really nice about Indian summer isn't there? We've had nothing but amazing weather and nothing even close to frost yet...I have no idea how that can be. I sometimes wonder if the leaves will dry on the branch and never be that beautiful...we shall see.
