Icy on the driveway…

and a little bit of snow on the ground.  I slid all of the way down the driveway taking the garbage can to the curb this morning.  It is 27 degrees and not going to get much warmer today so I will have to be careful this morning while I am out running errands.  So, I guess winter has officially started in Central Illinois even though the calendar says it is a bit too early.  I repeat, I do not like winter!!  My Wisconsin relatives will be leaving the day after Christmas to spend the whole winter in Arizona.  They have invited me to come for a visit.  I would love that.  I have never visited Arizona.  If I ever get rid of all of these doctor visits I just might consider that.

I did get the bathroom cleaned yesterday, even going so far as to clean everything in there.  Whew that ought to last for a few days.

I put more decorations out in the living room, even putting up one that Jim made many years ago.  I didn’t get a very good picture of it but it gives you the general idea.

He made many decorations but this is the only one that was small enough for me to save when I moved.  My friends Rex and Sandi called me the other night to tell me that all of the inflatables that Jim used to put in our front yard are now in their front yard.  Mike (Jim’s nephew) has some more of Jim’s decorations.

I need to go out to start the car and clean the snow off.  I hope you all have a peaceful weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Like that decoration. You be careful out there. Not icy in my part of WI so far. Hope it stays that way until I get all my stuff done.

  2. Very nice decoration, and what a great memory. Yikes - you've had worse weather than we have had. Think you should seriously considering going to Arizona for a visit this winter. Would be good for you.

  3. It's nice that you still have some things that Jim made and loved. :) There is no snow and ice here. It's cold, but the sun is shining, and it will hopefully warm into the 40's today. We have our Christmas parade this weekend, so we're looking forward to that. You be careful on that ice!

  6. I broke out my new shoe ice grippers that go over the bottom of your shoes. Maybe you need a pair too. Snow on the ground and it just may get up to 34. Nice decoration Jim made. It shows your Jim had the Christmas spirit. Hope you go visit AZ!

  7. I'd love to go somewhere warm for Christmas actually. I've not done that in many years now. One Christmas in India...a couple in the Philippines...a whole different ball of wax but the heat was wonderful! For now it's 32 with a couple inches of snow on the ground. Winter is here like it or not my friend but it can't stop us of wishing for spring!

  8. I hope you were very careful on your travels for the day. I think visiting in Arizona in the winter might be just what you need. ;)

Pretty decoration and glad that some of Jim's other decorations were passed on and appreciated spreading the good spirit. :):)

  9. Hi Beth, you must be careful with that slippery drive, and I don't believe you were talking about 'running' errands, surely not!
I don't like winter either, I wouldn't mind it if it was warm and sunny. :-), going to Arizona sounds a good idea.
I do like your decoration and although you don't have Jim's other ones, it must be nice to know that they are being used and not gone to waste.
We've got the coldest night of the year here according to the weather readers. and I believe them, but it's dry.
Thank you for the card I did put a reply on my blog to you. Take lots of care and keep warm.

  14. It's amazing the memories Christmas decorations can hold. I have many that I made and can't for the life of me figure how I had time to make all them. Oh Yah I had no TV or internet at the time. Well we still have lots snow from our November big dump, but I have to say have had beautiful weather since then. Sunny most days with highs near 32 and above.
