Countdown at 70…

I have been doing a Spring countdown for the last several years.  It is right after Christmas that I begin to get cabin fever and long for Spring.  This winter has been nice though with moderate temperatures.  Right now the temp is at 46 degrees to go into the 50s. The sun is shining brightly too.  A beautiful day for sure.  The forecast is on for snow for tomorrow night and Thursday.  Hopefully it will only be a small amount.

I have been out his morning running errands and enjoying the weather.  It is so great to walk outdoors without a hat or gloves on.  Walmart was crowded as usual this morning.  I was looking at the remaining Christmas decorations.  There were some good sized tin ornaments left that opened up to a cookie inside.  Needing to know I checked the label to see where the cookie was made.  It was made in Turkey.  Put that thing back down in a hurry.  I have been noticing this more and more at Walmart.  The items they carry that read made in America are very few and far between.

I go mostly to Walmart for the pharmacy items, and heaven only knows where they are made.  I was watching the CBS evening news last night and they were talking about this big drug recall.  http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/drug-recall-excedrin-nodoz-bufferin-gas-x-due-broken-tablets-stray-pills-article-1.1003261  What was even more frightening was the fact that this is not the first time this has happened for this plant.  Sometimes I think I just won’t watch the news anymore as there is rarely any good news anymore.

I am running way late today so I need to cut this off and get busy.  Do remember to stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  2. 45 degrees here with fifty for a high...tomorrow the highs are in the 20s so I expect this wind is blowing in some colder temperatures before it's all over. I here we've been consistently 10 degrees warmer than usual. I don't remember seeing anything like this before.

  4. I find that most tasks are more enjoyable when the sun is shining. We have had a very mild winter here also, only a handful of slight frosts all winter.

  5. After the Dollar Store fiasco with the counterfeit toothpaste with a Colgate label. The foods that say "distributed in the US" but not where they are MADE..I would never buy anything aywhere without checking where it is manufactured. Medicines..we have no choice.

I don't take any high powered stuff..and I don't take warfarin but I saw on a news program that it is manufactured in China mostly and other foreign places and there have been numerous problems with the quality..over and over. Scary.

  6. I avoid watching the news. I find out enough online by accident--LOL! And most of it isn't good news, you're right.

I wouldn't want to buy cookies from Turkey, either. For one thing, how fresh could they be?!

    Have a great Wednesday! :)

  7. Well I am getting cabin fever finally. More just because we often go almost 2 weeks before going into town. I often feel so removed from the rest of the world. Our temp. are dipping tonight after 6 weeks of hovering mostly around freezing day and night. We had lunch on the front deck today it was about 36 with the sun shinning on us making it warm against the house wall and then the sun went down and it just plummeted and it now about 18 and expecting to stay cold for a few days. We have been so blessed with beautiful weather here, well if you like a little snow once in awhile. I went off without snowshoes and discovered it is almost 3 feet in places that has accumulated since middle of November. Will be heading south soon and looking forward to riding my bike. Have a wonderful rest of the week. Hugs Carrie

  9. I have eaten whole meals in Turkey with no ill effect. The way American business skirts the law, I feel no more comfortable with their products than those from elsewhere. We won't need too much medicine if we get more cold weather - warm winters encourage those microbes that are usually killed off by cold. It is warm again here today - last year I think the same snow was on the ground from the end of Jan to early March - it NEVER got above freezing. Wonder if there is a happy medium somewhere...

  11. I see from you and the some comments here there are a few of us that feel the same about watching the news. Especially when you 2 hours morning and night telling you the same thing over and over.

  12. I have quit watching the news as it depresses me. As long as I only know what is going on in my immediate world, I stay happy.

  13. I seldom watch the news, much prefer a comedy. It's a shame we can't trust buying meds anymore, even those prescribed. Still rainy here and in the 50's. Tomorrow, a little snow is predicted. I hope you don't get the big snow.

  14. I'm ready for spring too. Even though the day temps have been pretty nice, it's still downright cold at night, which doesn't allow us to leave our dogs outside to sleep. They are SOOOO stinky! LOL Also, I like it when the days start getting longer. It's just tiring when it's dark a little after 5 each night.

  17. Once again we will get your weather here. It's been a very mild winter so far.
I saw that news report as well.
One reason Walmart got to be the biggest is because they were buying the cheaper overseas stuff before anybody else and now they're so big that they can name their price and if a manufacturer wants to do business with them they have to go along the Walmart demand. Is this good for America? I'm not sure. Walmart has contributed to Jobs going overseas.
