68! We are under a winter advisory here for blizzard like conditions. It is snowing like crazy and the wind is whipping around. the storm is to last until 6 AM tomorrow. Should I mention again that I do not like snow. It wasn’t so bad until I had to handle it all on my own and now I dread it each winter.
The storm has just started and this is what my car looks like now. This photo also shows the tree that I am taking a picture of each month for the year. If you click on the pic you can also see the cemetery in the background.
So I am hunkered down and ready to face the day. I have plenty of books and my Nook is filled with over 90 books so I guess I will be OK. Boston Boy, take note that I have bread, milk, eggs, and deli meat and cheese on hand. Watch out for tomorrow ‘cause I think this is headed your way.
hunkeredpast participle, past tense of hunk·er (Verb)
Verb:
- Squat or crouch down low: "he hunkered down beside her".
- Take shelter in a defensive position: "hunker down and let it blow over".
Definition #2 is the one I am using today.
For my Twin, I hope your wall unit is delivered safe and sound today. Don’t take any crap from anyone and make them all wipe their feet.
I am getting into my hunkered down position so you all stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
It's started here too Beth. I think the older you get the less you like it. Hey I like that. Hunkering down also. Well after a trip to the credit union that is.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't get tooooo much snow. Looks like it will be a mild winter anyway. But it sure has been COLD here in CA this year---don't ever remember having it this cold for this long. And with NO RAIN, it's been a weird winter already. We really need the moisture. Hunker down and enjoy a warm fire and a good book! I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas this year! What fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth
ReplyDeleteMy commiserations - Hugs Nita
We're overdue for a big one, 1960's, and we're supposed to get snow showers. Who knows. Gotta make the rounds just in case....lol Then Kassey and I will hunker down. She's running and playing so something's up.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting it also. We may get up to 8 inches in the two days - not too bad of a storm here anyway. Enjoy your book reading time.
ReplyDeleteTwin! We're supposed to get some snow but hopefully no way like you have. We had the rain, huge winds, thunder lightening and hail yesterday. Now, it's still raining some but it will get colder and should start snowing by evening commute time. Oh joy.
ReplyDeleteHunkered with you BUT only in spirit. xoxoxox
wooohoo! congratulations
ReplyDeleteIt was 65 degrees here yesterday, and today it is 35. We hardly ever get snow, so I cannot even imagine what you go through, but I know we get cabin fever when we get stuck inside for a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteOur subzero temperatures never arrived nor did the wind that looked like was going to take off so we remain at 27 and clear as can be...I've never seen a winter like this for mildness. I'm glad you're well prepared for it.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I'm hunkered down up here, too, but not from snow--from cold! It's One degree right this minute. Hunker...hunker! Stay warm and safe! :)
ReplyDeleteWe got snow and had to be out in it. The wind was SO COLD! I'm glad I get to stay in my house and don't have anywhere else to go - at least until tomorrow! LOL Stay warm!!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, We had freezing rain here last night and today, so even this working gal had to hunker down and stayed home to day, and did some reading on my Kindle e-book I got for Christmas. I really like it and it is such a good way to shop. You can hunker down and shop at the Kindle Book Store online. Ya gotta love it.
ReplyDeleteWell you enjoy your hunker down time with a good book and stay warm and comfy.
Hugs, Dianne :)
Hi Beth,
ReplyDeleteI noticed you are a new follower of mine, so I popped over to return the favor! I'm sorry you aren't excited about the snow. We rarely get snow, so we get excited when it gets forecast! Yet, it rarely shows up, so the excitement is short lived!
Hope the snow is light for you, and doesn't keep you "hunkered down" longer than you wish! A day to just read sounds heavenly, though!
OMGosh my dear! You stay safe and warm inside!
ReplyDeleteUgh snow yuck yuck and double yuck! Glad you are prepared with food and all the essentials. Stay under the covers and keep warm!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joanne
We have had an unusually warm winter here in the northwest, but now we are having freezing temps and snow is predicted for this weekend. So we wait to see.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy hunkering! I enjoy your music. bertieblue.
Oh my, glad to hear you are prepared Beth , I to don't like to venture out in the car in the Snow. Take time for yourself with your reading an put those feet up. It's a misty day here and cold. Hugs Sheila and Wile-e xx
ReplyDeleteHeavy and wet stuff coming down here as well. 24° but not much wind - yet! Love seeing snow finally arriving. Everyone has been prepared for so long. No hunkering down yet and going out to take photos. Your tree will soon be covered and it will be more attractive in my eye. Enjoy hunkering comforts!
ReplyDeleteWe have turned very cold Beth, well, seasonably cold, comparedd to the mild weather of late. I don't see any snow forecast though, I hope not,cos I don't like snow either. Keep warm and happy reading. Doesn't this weather make you lazy !
ReplyDeleteIf I could only find a way for you to send me some of your white snow without it melting on it's way, I WOULD!! Have you ever considered 'House Swapping'??? Hey... we could launch our own new TV reality show?!! Bwahahaha!
ReplyDeleteNone the less, hope that the weather is being kind to you. Stay well.
