February! The countdown to Spring is 48 days and tomorrow we will find out if the groundhog sees his shadow. Makes no difference one way or the other; Spring doesn’t begin until 20 March and even that is iffy. Today is beautiful though. It is 39 degrees heading to the upper 40s. The sun is shining brightly and that brightens my day.
I am just home from the pharmacy and getting my hair cut. Lots of people out in the stores. That is one thing I don’t like about this town. At home I lived 3 blocks from the post office, 5 blocks from the only grocery store in town and 7 blocks from the fitness center where I worked out. To really grocery shop I had to drive a 60 mile round trip to Champaign but I only did that once a week. On either side of me, across the street from me, behind me and catty corner across the street I had neighbors who were friends that I could count on. I have become friendly with my neighbors here. It is not the same here and I guess that must be my fault as I haven’t made much of an effort. I do take them things I bake, etc. and they always thank me but they never reciprocate. Did I spell that right? I guess I did as there are no red squiggly lines under the word.
Probably the number one thing I dislike about this town is the fact that my health went all to hell in a hand basket after I moved here. Well, I guess it is a good thing that I am living here because what would I do without my daughter and SIL as they are so good to me.
This is Wednesday which we in the blogging world long ago declared to be rant day so I gave you all a long drawn out rant. lol
Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
KNOW the feeling all too well Sis...moved from a big ole city back to a dinky one and boy things are just not the same at all. Better to be somewhere than no place I guess. I don't know but I think maybe SPRING might just SPRUNG early this year.. we could get lucky!! Take care : )
ReplyDeleteI used to live within a block or two of the PO, library, coffee shop, small mall, my bank, a river with a pathway, and was half a block from the bus stop. My health went all to hell and I moved across the river to Fargo. Nothing within walking distance at all. Nicer apartment, though. Sometimes I miss being able to just walk out the door and go places.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a really good day, though--regardless! ;)
I can't imagine ever living somewhere else. Though I have to drive to those places I have no excuse not to take a walk. I've lived here almost my entire life. I grew up here and moved back as soon as I could.
ReplyDeleteDown here I am 7 miles form the nearest town 5 miles from the Garden Centre , not bad really. It's going to be -3c tonight brrr so I hope it is as bright as it was today tomorrow lovely sunshine. It's so good to have your daughter near by Beth. Hugs Sheila and Wile-e xx
ReplyDeleteWe're all entitled to a rant Beth, I had mine this afternoon didn't I.
ReplyDeleteI'm about a mile from the shops in Highcliffe which is a village, and it's 3 miles to New Milton which is a town, I admit to taking the car as I feel I do enough walking with the dogs and incorporate it into dog walking anyhow., but unlike you my family are a bit farther away 30 mile round trip to one and 40 for Karen, hey ho, we can't have it all though can we?
You can go ahead and rant - you have every right to as you have been thru a lot of changes in a year. And some of us don't take changes well ( me included). It's important to be near family when the health goes. I just sorry your neighbors aren't more friendly. I do hope things improve for you.
ReplyDeleteI guess there are good and not so good anywhere a person lives. I wish I could return to the town I grew up in, but it no longer exists as I knew it. During WW2, too many people discovered it and moved there. The fields of wild oats are gone and even the streets with single family homes are now full of apartments. Too many people in Pacific Beach, Ca. and if you go by traffic, everywhere. Here in Wa. it is rush hour all the time. Oh well, there are still blessings wherever we are. For me too it is family and friends like you. Bertieblue
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that very thing yesterday, that as soon as you moved..everything went upside down! I can imagine too how it must be having to make new friends again after all of the years with the ones you had and loved. BUT you are and can and will.
ReplyDeleteLove you bunches..and you know it.
xoxox
I didn't know you have to go 60 miles for good grocery shopping. Gee and I complain about 30, shame on me. I am so sorry your health went crappy after you moved. Today is Wed and you can rant all you want...it's allowed!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, It is so nice to come here and see the count down to Spring. I hope your health improves and you start to feel a whole lot better. It is good that you are close to family now, and hopefully the neighbors will come around.
ReplyDeleteYou take care.
Dianne :)
Aw they don't reciprocate? shame on them! When my Husband and I first moved to our town it was sooooo hard for me. all of my friends were so far away and I felt so alone. It is very hard for me to make friends, theres a house for sale want to come live here? I promise I would always make some baked good for you too! ( now whether you'd like them would be another question!) LOL!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joanne
And soon it will be Thursday and all will be well again. lol
ReplyDeleteIt hit 60 here today, sistah..and it was good.
I live out and isolated more than you..and am blessed to have exactly one set of perfect neighbors. Still...I know what you mean.
xoxoxox
You call that a rant???? lol You are so nice. Too nice for your new neighbors, too. I can guarantee you that if you were my neighbor, I'd have reciprocated. Kids these days haven't been raised right. They don't know how to thank people properly.
ReplyDeleteIt was 80 degrees here today....too hot for February 1. We are going to fry come July!!!!
It sounds like you have been adapting to your new lifestyle. No matter where you live, you always give up something.
ReplyDeleteI know that the move you had compiled with the health has been a challenge. Spring coming up will hopefully find you more settled in then ever and feeling much better. It's 36 here now but it's supposed to be cool for a couple days...still that said a very mild winter thus far.
ReplyDeleteWay to go with Rant Wednesday :). I'm glad you got out today and had a good day!
ReplyDeleteHUGS, Sorry about putting you on the spot all the time about dinner ... LOL.
