Would you believe…

it is only 39 days left on the Countdown to Spring and we are on tap for snow and the coldest temps of the winter.  I knew it was too good to be true.

I am just home form grocery shopping and a trip to the bank.  I was out of diet 7-UP and I have to have the stuff on hand.  I have a rotisserie chicken which I am going to have for lunch.  I love the rotisserie chicken from Wal*Mart.  I don’t buy my groceries there though as I think they are quite a bit higher than the other grocery stores in town.  I went from one little IGA store at home to half a dozen good sized grocery stores here.    I shop the sales here and what I have coupons for.

As I mentioned before, the temps are to be dropping all day and the snow is on its way.  Wind chill tonight to reach 10 – 15 below zero.  So I am stocked up on food, my Nook is fully loaded and I have a Phillip Margolin book that I am ready to read.  Could life get any better?  Yes, it probably could but I am thankful for what I have and I consider each day a privilege.

I have a new neighbor in one of the units.  This is the 3rd family I have seen in that unit in the almost 2 years I have been living here.  I had thought about looking for a house to buy when my lease is up 1 April.  I have decided against that as I am waiting to see what life brings to me in the next few months.  I do know that my rent will be raised $10 a month and that is the second raise on the rent.  I am spending enough on rent to buy a house, that is for sure.

Well, I have jabbered away and really not said anything so I guess I will quit jabbering and start thinking about lunch.  I hope you all have a peaceful weekend.

Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. BRrrrr.......you need a log on the fire and some hot cocoa to go with that book!!!! The one good thing about renting over owning is that when something breaks, you just make a phone call and they fix it....nothing out of your pocket!

You are lucky to have so many places to shop for groceries! We went from having Apple Tree, Krogers, Winn Dixie, Piggly Wiggly, 2 HEBs and King Savers.....to just having HEB, Walmart and Sams....that's it. So sad....and the cookie aisle is just as bad....went from a long aisle to a fourth of an aisle.

  2. Here you go Beth. I don't know how other do this but it is what I was told and wrote down.

    Corn Fritters:
    1 can cream style corn
    1 1/2 cup of flour
    2 eggs
    salt and pepper
    1 tsp baking powder

Drop into sizzling hot pan of oil of about 1 to 1/2 inches and brown on both sides. I use a toothpick to check the center to be sure they're done all the way through, just like checking a cake.

  3. It's cold and snowing really large flakes right now...not unexpected to say the least...ah well, this is supposed to break as of Sunday...we'll see. Renting does suck up a lot of money I'm sure, I hope something will work out for you in that. I wish you a wonderful Friday my friend.

    1. I had never heard of Jools Holland before I started looking for Enjoy Yourself on Mixpod. I liked his version of this song so much that I ordered the CD from Amazon. I will give a review on it when I get it.

  5. It's a "deep freeze" here too this weekend, and 3 inches of snow presently on the ground. Now they had the nerve to tell us that on Tuesday we'll get more. But, I'm zipping my mouth because it's been all good up to today. he he

  6. Yep, it's going to be chilly tonight, that's for sure! Our furnace was broken, and he came to fix it, just in time! Sounds like you are prepared. I figure we'll cozy up to some games or something, although, we have to be out early tomorrow for the last basketball games of the regular season!

  11. Oh Beth, what strange weather we have been experiencing this year. This winter sure has been quite mild for us. We hardly have any snow also!!! As I type this, it's a mild -12°C/10.4 ºF here... a far cry from the normal -30°C/-22 ºF that we are used to this time of year. I won't complain about the cold, but I am certainly missing the snow. Boo Hoo! Here's hoping that the weather will be kind to you in the up coming weeks as you continue with your countdown to Spring!

I trust that you are keeping well.... have a great week ahead!
