A glorious day..

in the heart of Illinois and the sun is shining brightly.  The temp stands at 37 degrees right now but it is supposed to climb to the low 60s today.  Which leads me to remind us all that the first day of Spring is 2 weeks from today.

The only thing marring my feeling of euphoria  is the fact that I have another doctor appointment this morning.   Oh well, one thing at a time, one minute, one hour, one day at a time.  Brings to mind a line from that song, ‘Just give me the strength to do every day what I have to do.”  And I do, I just keep moving along, thankful for each new day.

The snow has all melted away.  I tracked ice melt in the kitchen yesterday so that meant I had to clean the kitchen.  I have frozen or eaten my leftovers from the weekend so I guess I will have to cook again or ask Lean Cuisine for a handout.  I don’t like her handouts very much, Marie Callender’s handouts are tastier.  More sugar, fat and salt in them.

I love this old pic of Jim and our next door neighbor taken in 2005 right after Jim had finished his first round of chemo.  I miss my old neighbors but they are kind enough to keep in touch and have even been here to see me a few times.

Wow!  I could look at old pictures all day and not get anything accomplished at all.  I have most of my old pics on the computer and have many dvds full of them.

I hope you all have a great day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

  1. Spring definitely seems to be on lots of people's minds lately. I surely know it is coming sooner than we think though. Hope your appt goes well. I do agree that Marie Callendar things taste much better but YES, too much salt we sure don't need in them. I miss my old neighbors a lot too..our old house still sits empty.Long story..anyway..hope your day is a great warm one!

  2. It's fun to look back at those pictures! Glad you've saved them on DVD's etc. I had some water damage in an old family picture album that was stored in a shed. Now it's back in the house, waiting for me to scan the pics to preserve them. Enjoy the mild weather and look forward to spring. It's cold on and off here, but mostly a spring-like 70!

  4. Isn't the nicer weather a blessing? It's still up and down for us but I see mid-sixties for the weekend which is a wonderful thing! I've dabbled with the thought of going through my old pictures again but haven't really been able to want to do that enough to do it. Have a great day my friend!

  6. I haven't looked at old pictures for many. many years. But have the boxes in here to learn how to use a scanner. What a huge project--says the procrastinator--LOL! ;)

Sadly, everything with more sugar, fat and salt in them tastes better. :(

Have a great day! We're supposed to get into the 40s and it is sunny here, too. :)

  7. Hope the doc appointment went well.

How about some pasta and a jar of sauce for dinner? Can even buy precooked meatballs I think. Wouldn't that be better (for you) than those frozen dinners?

Look at me talking! Me who hates to cook. -sigh-

Glad for your nice weather! That part of the country really deserves some nice weather!

    Gentle hugs,

  10. You are right, at least spring is just around the corner. Everything will look lighter when the sun shines and clears away the unhappiness.

How often do you have AFib? And how do you cope? Is it true that you get an intravenous shot of magnesium in the US the minute yougo to the ER?

  11. There's nothing like looking at old photos to distract us from everyday life.

  12. Memories are wonderful, aren't they? Hope all went well with the doctor. I had two more skin biopsies and another freeze today. I grew up in sunny Pacific Beach, Ca. and now every 6 months I pay for it. But as long as it is under control. I'm happy. I have a new blog called "Moods of the Ocean" from our trip last week.

Cherry trees are in full bloom here and it snowed this morning. It didn't stick though. Enjoy the new signs of Spring. Beach Gal Bertie

  13. I sure know what you mean by looking at old pictures. I 'wasted' aways most of the weekend finding and embarrasing my kids, lol.
