I couldn’t believe…

it was true.  I am sill laughing or maybe gagging.  I was standing at my kitchen sink a few minutes ago just looking out the window.  When I look out the window in the kitchen I see the expanse of grass which is between me and the cemetery.   A young man was walking his dog and smoking a cigarette.  The dog stopped to do what dogs do when they are outside and nature calls.  The guy stooped down and picked up the poopiedoop (one of my made up words.  I have a whole dictionary full of them), put it in the little blue plastic bag, lifted his hand to his mouth with the bag dangling and removed the cigarette from his mouth.  Now is that addiction or what???  I always look down at my feet as I am crossing to go to the cemetery.  Perhaps there was nothing in that blue bag after all??

It is another simply gorgeous day here in the heart of Illinois. It is 57 degrees right now and to get into the 80s again today.  The first day of Spring is Tuesday.  Hey guys, it has been a long time coming but we are finally going to make it.

Folks in this area are all hyped up because the Peoria High School basketball team has done so well in the tournament.  I really like basketball because I understand it.  I was kind of heartsick when Bruce Weber the University of Illinois basketball coach was fired a few weeks ago.  Where I lived before was very close to the U of I and Jim and I followed the basketball team closely.  Well. Jim followed the football team closely too but I didn’t, except to buy a t-shirt the last time they went to the Rose Bowl.

I need to get moving along as I have things to be done this morning.  I hope you all have a great day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. maybe women only understand basketball because it was the only sport they encouraged us to play way back when?

  3. When I was a smoker (stopped over 21 years ago) it wouldn't have bothered me. The poop was inside the bag and the outside was clean--LOL! Then again, I grew up digging bare-handed into aquarium gravel, cleaning up after cats, dogs, rodents, birds, lizards...so I was used to some pretty gross stuff. ;)

Hope it's a nice day for you. Almost spring! :):)

  5. Hi Beth,

I don't like the idea at all of those bags, but I know they are very necessary, if only dogs visited the toilet like us - lol
Can't imagine, ever putting anything like that anywhere near my mouth.

Cold here at the moment and raining.

    Have a good week

    Hugs Nita

  8. Hi Beth!

Eww is right! Sadly, I'm like Rita in that when I was smoking, I probably wouldn't have thought a thing about it! I also quit . . . 25 years ago!

Spring is so close, but we had snow falling, sun shining and rain dropping today!

  9. Beth, your blog looks wonderful as usual. Love the Spring theme and the photograph above is so Beautiful. Wish it had been me who took that photo. :)
Today was sunny and warm here and reached at least 70 degrees. Unbelievable for this time of year. Love your Spring count down and only a couple of days to go. Felt more like summer than Spring the last few days.
Hey, I want to thank you for praying for my mom each day. She really needs our prayers that is for sure.
Well you take care and have a great week.
    Hugs, Dianne :)

  10. I imagine if aliens were watching the activity on Earth and saw a dog being walked by a human witnesses the dog doing what comes naturally then sees the human cleaning up would have to conclude that the dog was the dominant species.
It was a stunning day today I will report on it some time tomorrow. Details at 6.

  12. Whoa, that is some addiction! That about made me throw up in my mouth a little! We don't have dogs at the moment so I can go an enjoy walks without having to deal with them doing their duty...I don't miss that. It got cold today and even snowed! Always one more hit as winter heads out at last!

  13. A car salesman that sold us a car leaned over to tell us how to set the radio and I nearly DIED from the stench from cigarettes on the man. That is why that person could pick up doggiepoo and place it under his nose while taking a drag off his cigarette....cuz it STINKS to smoke!!!! I never realized that back in the 60's and 70's when I lived at home with my parents and the house was filled with smoke 24-7. I bet I smelled just like that car salesman! ewwwwww
