March has arrived…

with a vengeance!  So many tornadoes, loss of life and property.  I am heartsick over all of this destruction.  http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/02/10561066-at-least-28-killed-in-indiana-kentucky-ohio-as-tornadoes-sweep-midwest-south

At least 28 people have been killed.  Tornadoes struck close to home for my sis in WV.  Also for my twin in Tennessee.  This is awfully early for the tornado season to be starting.

That said it is 16 days left on the countdown to Spring.  Looking back to happier times.

Some of my flowers from home.

I am cooking today.  I usually cook on the weekends and eat TV dinners all week.  I hope you all enjoy the day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

  1. You just never know when Mother Nature is going to dish it out. If it isn't tornadoes, it's Hurricanes or Earthquakes or something. It's a crap shoot, for sure. Love your GREEN look on your page. Are you really Irish? We named our oldest son Sean with that spelling because he has some Irish in his background. I have mostly Welsh in mine (as far as I know---I'm adopted). Springs seems here already, but the nights are still pretty cold. Up in the 70's here today and tomorrow!

  2. I am half Irish on my dad's side. Dutch on my mom's. My maiden name is as Irish as you can get.

  7. You're right about the tornado season. I remember living in Oklahoma and knowing that there was real reason to respect the weather. I have some concern here about it too. We just had our main arena repaired after being partially destroyed by the tornado a couple years ago on Father's Day. I love your flowers! I'm so ready to have some of my own!

  9. I agree too soon for all this destruction.Hope it calms down some in the rest of the month. Flowers are nice to look at..esp when everywhere is either white or brown right now. We got little snow we were spared. : )

  10. I guess times have changed with the global warming. The storms like last year were ropes from north to south and damage beyond belief.
I am not looking forward to Spring. As folks would ask grandpa Jones..."What's for supper?"

    1. I saw a tornado when my daughter was in kindergarten. My husband was at work and I was at home with my son who was 2 years old at the time. The tornado hit on East Lawn Street and did a lot of damage. I remember standing at the back door and looking at the funnel cloud. I was young and pretty stupid looking back on that time.

  17. I'm sorry you need a hand to be pulled to the sunnyside. Tornados are horrible...another of those questions I want to pose to God should I be allowed to enter the gates of Heaven and have a chat with him....what was the purpose of tornados...they only cause destruction and sorrow. So many things we will never understand in this life.
Here in Texas, when my first son was in the first grade...the day of his graduation from first grade, the tornado hit Jerrell....wiped out one entire subdivision...even the foundations of the houses were gone....wiped it clean. I don't remember how many died, but too many. It was devastating to that small town.
We had one really bad tornado here when I was 8. It tore up many buildings, but luckily, I don't think anyone died. I will never forget it. It was dark as night at 2 in the afternoon. and still...until it hit. Hugs....there will be a better day.

  18. Oh Beth, it's been all over the news, the devastation and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by these terrible storms. Much like with any natural disaster, you never think it's going to happen to you. Some of us can only begin to imagine the emptiness and depression that follows losing everything you've worked for all your life (and almost losing your life).
So sad to see all of this.....keep well.

  20. I love these flowers Beth, so colourful yet so delicate, a lovely picture to brighten an otherwise gloomy tale of tornadoes and such, I hope none touch you or any family.
Maybe spring will bring a really nice surprise for us in the way of nice weather, we need it. Take care

  21. Mother Nature is fickle. Kind and cruel. Seems like lately she's been in a bad mood. :(

Your flowers are gorgeous! Looks like spring has already arrived down there. :)
