Chilly Friday..

It is just like winter outside.  The temp is 44 degrees right now and the wind blows right through a sweatshirt and a spring jacket.  I am home from paying bills.

Comcast raised my bill 20 some dollars this month.  I talked to the gal at our local Comcast office and told her that I would be leaving if I had to pay that much more each month.  She was able to get me a promotion package that  is a dollar or so cheaper than what I have been paying.  I really hate change so I was glad for that.  I am not a Comcast fan though and that hasn’t changed.

I also went to city hall this morning to get a map of the city so that I can find my way around to  the garage sales.  Thanks Mary for reminding me to do this.

After a stop at Food Depot and and a bite to eat at Hardee’s it was home and I am worn out for some reason.  I don’t think I will do much the rest of the day.

I hope you all have a good weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  2. It seems like everything goes up when gas goes up....with the exception of our incomes. Sorry to hear that it's costing you more.
I love going to garage sales with my daughter, but we never get to anymore since I work weekends. Buy a good bargain for me!

  4. Hi Beth--

It is definitely soup weather again, isn't it? In honor of that, I have a biog pot of minestrone simmering away on the stove!

About 49 here now and almost 3 PM--no way is it gonna hit that predicted 54, lol. Rainy too...

Hope you get a little nap and feel not so tired...I missed you: had no computer connection for 10 days..arrgghhh....Betting they don't compensate me for THAT, either...

  6. Hm..what did you have at Hardees? YOu have a much larger Comcast package than I do..so I can imagine it's high already. You nmust have some competing companies there. We don't..at least not in my town.

    1. There are 3 major cable companies here in town and they all compete with each other.

  7. Years ago we had so much trouble with comcast that we had them take all their stuff out of our house and we went back to a dial up internet connection again. Then Verizon came along in our area so we went with them. So far so good.
A happy day and weekend to you.

  8. So many of those cable companies drive everybody nuts! And they keep charging more and more...unless they get some competition. But they are all high priced. Glad you got a deal.

We hit the 50s today. Hope you have a good weekend, too. :)

  14. I once read, to never accept the first price.

Try to get a better price.

And I think it works better, for we who are older. A perk of aging... Use it! ,-)

    1. I am all for using my over the hill charm. That is how I got the dirt filled in behind my back door last year.

  15. There is quite the promotional war going on between Comcast, Infinity and DirectTV around here. I dumped Comcast about 12 years ago, DirectTV about 8 years ago. Both over incompetence and lousy customer service. As far as TV is concerned I have had DishTV for the last 4 and a half years and haven't had a problem.
I'm staying away from garage sales. I am unloading stuff. I should have my own sale.
At this point in the day I have a late shift to look forward too. I won't be home until 9:30 tonight. Not my idea of a fun Saturday night. Ok I'll stop whining.
The Rolling Stones? You surprised me Beth!

    1. I love the Rolling Stones. I especially like their version of Drift Away. I like most kinds of music with the exception of rap and heavy metal.

    2. My sympathy with the weather Beth, it's been kind of like that for us too. It finally started to warm up but it's always gloomy and raining for thinking about rain which makes it seem cooler than it is. I've got quite a few errands to run today myself however I think our city is much smaller than yours which helps. Strength to you today. Bless you.

  16. A map is a a great idea, and I have one in my car, but I find it easier to just use Google Maps! I guess I'm a little lazy!!

I hope to hit a few sales today with my daughter. She is home for the weekend, looking for cheap children's books to begin building her own library for teaching. Of course, if she just waits a couple of years, I'll give her all of mine when I retire!!

  17. The map is a great idea. Though I can NEVER fold it back up! LOL!

  18. In the last 5 years, I have realized a 21% increase in my bill for cable/high speed internet/phone (bundle package). Anybody out there see a 21% increase in their paycheck? I certainly haven't. :o(
I really find it hard to understand how companies like ComCast (and others because there are many) raise rates in these times (with no change in service) and then report record profits. I know, it's simply corpoate greed and it sucks!
