A little…

excitement in front of my house late yesterday afternoon.  For awhile my street and driveway were blocked off by the local police and sheriff's car.  Three motorcycles were stopped.  there were three adult males and a child that were on those bikes, none wearing helmets.  At the present time there is no motorcycle helmet law in Illinois.  http://www.bikersrights.com/states/illinois/illinois.html  There have been a couple of recent motorcycle deaths right here in town in the past year and several in Peoria the last year.  Who in their right mind would take a child for a ride on a big bike with no helmet??  I did notice a citation being handed out.

I took this picture through my front door.  I had just washed my storm window a week ago and then we had rain so the window was kind of grotty (from my made up word dictionary) so the picture is not very clear.

My niece is coming for lunch.  I am fixing flank steak which I have never fixed before so wish me luck.

I never did get out to the garage sales but for Mario’s mom, I am hunting me a city map next week.

Have a great day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

  1. Nothing like a little police activity to stir up some neighborhood excitement. Glad to hear it wasn't criminal in nature. So crazy for anyone to be riding a motorcycle without a helmet, but especially a child. Good luck with the flank steak.

  3. We have this "person" who every summer goes riding up and down the street with some small child on his "bike". I've even seen a very very small child held in front so only on hand on the handlebars. Have been told he won't be doing it anymore as he sold his bike. Good, he's not bright enough to own one.

  5. Wow, excitement in the neighborhood! We have a helmet law in Missouri. I'm sure it does save lives. There was recently a motorcycle wreck caused by a car rear-ending the motorcycle. Two were on the motorcycle. The man died and the woman was critically injured.

  7. I love the header on this page of yours my friend...really awesome! We had a wild incident here too with five cop cars and a firetruck with a couple of our neighbor's cars involved. Love had to come home a different way because this happened right after she was coming home from work. I know that the neighbor kids have been very troubled so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I had a friend in high school who died in a motorcycle accident and I had a nasty accident some years ago...it's no joke. Bless you my friend.

  8. Your picture at the top is gorgeous. So glad you are getting a map> It beats getting directions on the internet (google map) which is sometimes wrong and hard to follow. You won't regret it and you'll find yourself using it more than you think.

  10. Seems like most neighborhoods have a little or a lot of excitement once in a while. I wonder if they could get them for child endangerment. Some states have laws like that.

Love the beautiful tree in your picture. looks like Spring is here.

Have a wonderful Easter. Thanks for your comment on my new blog. Wish i would blog more often. I have really slowed down recently at everything I want to do. Hugs. Beach Gal Bertie

  12. Not only that but I wouldn't allow my child on a motorcycle if they were under 12 years of age. I know..weveryone is laughing and pointing their fingers at me but I would not have done it. I wouldn't like them being a passenger until they were older than that.
