Magnificent Monday…

It is beautiful here in the heart of central Illinois today.  Bright sunshine and 51 degrees right now to reach all  of the way into the upper 70s today.

I told you all about my lovely Mom’s Day lunch out at the Red Lobster on Saturday,  Yesterday afternoon my daughter took me to a movie I have been wanting to see since it hit the theaters a few weeks ago.  It is The Lucky One from a book written by Nicolas Sparks.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w8lE83oYeM  It was awesome.  I love the books by Nicolas Sparks anyway but this one really touched my heart.  The story is about a Marine who has served 3 tours of duty in Iraq and finds a picture on the battlefield of a pretty girl.  On the back of the photo are the words ‘Be safe.’  And I won’t tell you any more.  I cried a bit during the first part of the movie as it was a war scene.  I saw what our troops are going through each day fighting in a war that should never have been.  If you get a chance do see the movie.  I promise it will enchant you.

the lucky one Zac Efron

Zac Efron, the star of the movie.

As soon as I get off the computer this morning I am going to get the flowers and tomato plant as I think we are finally over the frosts here.  Pictures tomorrow.

I hope you all have a peaceful week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  3. I like a good weepy, film or book, so I'll keep a look out for that one Beth, I hope you're feeling a bit more upbeat to-day. I too think the frosts are gone, but it's still chilly, and we're back to rain. sigh.

  4. Sounds like a real good tear jerker. I still cannot bring myself to watch any movies that deal with the war. It hits too close to home and reminds me, So glad you had a great Mother's day.

  5. Happy Monday to you, Beth! I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. My husband and I just went to see it last week! I am a fan of Nicholas Sparks as well, though I have fallen behind in my reading of fiction. I have just finished "The Best of Me," and I just wanted to cry! I am not sure how many others he has written that I have not kept up with, but I had read all of them in the order in which he wrote them in the past.

Our frosts are long gone, but overnight the rain gauge has measured FOUR INCHES of rain, and the garden has little pools of water standing in it! No outside working today, that's for sure.

Enjoy your sunshine, and the signs are right for setting out tomato plants!:-)

  8. I'm sure glad you had a good day my friend, that's just how it should be! We have mid-eighties this week...who would have thought? Our potted garden will get some more attention and it will be glorious on the porch let me tell you! It was warm enough this morning to go out and enjoy my Kindle and some coffee out there...I may have to make a habit of that!

I'm just getting caught up a bit on blog reading. Being gone a few days, I've really gotten behind.

  13. First of all a belated Happy Mother's Day Beth.I'm still in the middle of a mess here. Boxes here and there. It has occupied most of my time. I hope to be back on a more regular basis.

  15. I've read all of Nicholas Sparks' books, and have seen most of the movies. I've noticed that I always seem to like the books better - although I loved "A Walk to Remember" and "The Last Song" movies.
