Super rant day…

I am what you would call torqued or p*******off today.  I was to have my new glasses in a week to 10 days.  They are trifocals  with transition lens and the total price was $493.  I stopped in this morning (2 weeks later) to see if they were ready.  As it happens the lens are fixed in Iowa City IA.  They were received this morning with an error in the prescription so they are having to be redone.  At home the lens were always fixed in Champaign which was 30 miles away.  I am not sure how far it is from here to IA City.  I asked if that was the closest place and she said it was.  I can’t believe that there isn’t somewhere in Peoria that does this.  Now I am to figure on another 2 week turnaround and I am not a happy camper.  The main reason is that my vision has changed quite a bit in the last 2 years and I am having a bit of difficulty when I read.

Auntie, thank you for the info on changing the size of the columns.  I have been working with computers for  over 15 years so I pretty much understand the common things.  I appreciate your input though.

Gotta run now as Y & R is coming on.  You all stay safe and be happy!

Beth

  3. I can relate to your frustration. I had the same thing happen to my glasses last month. They came in with the wrong prescription and prisms, so they got sent back.

Hope the rest of your day goes better and that you get your new glasses soon.

  5. That's truly maddening my friend. I have a pretty simple correction and wear contact lenses and I have to admit that I've had pretty good success with the place I've been working without however even with a simple correction it won't stop those that are really incompetent from screwing it up...the place I went to before did that and I was well and truly done with it.

  9. Blessings.....
I hope there is some compensation for your suffering after all this is your eyesight. There should knock at least 50-75 off the price.

I hope they get it right and send it out to you as soon as possible.

    Take care and stay blessed.

  10. Life is a puzzle sometimes. Sorry you had to find a new way for poor businesses to get to people. They ought to expedite them since they made the mistake, and send them back over=nite delivery.

Have a better day tomorrow. BGB

  11. Oh Beth, what a bummer about the glasses! I'd be pretty miffed, too. I hate it when things take longer than promised. And, get even more irritated when supposedly professional people make mistakes that mess stuff up!
Do you have a CostCo near you? I have purchased my last two pair of glasses from them and been very pleased with the speed and quality of product.

    Hugs :)

  12. I wear trifocals and wouldn't be able to see the computer without them! I sympathize with you!! Maybe they will get them corrected and shipped back quicker though since it is their mistake. Cross your fingers and toes, but not your eyes....you won't be able to see at all! lol

  13. There is not a lot worse insofar as every day living is concerned than needing new glasses and they don't show up. I agree, there HAS to be a closer place.

Mine usually take a week. And it's a long week seemingly. I can imagine how frustrating to have to wait even longer!

  14. That must be frustrating not to have your reading glasses. I never use glasses when I'm on the computer or reading, but I know my eyes have changed some. And yes, you can adjust your computer's type size. I always choose a font that is bigger on my Kindle too---so much easier to read! Good luck with the wait and hope it will be worth it when they finally arrive. Takes some time to adjust to Tri's. I have bi's that are progressive and it took me about 2 days of headaches, but then something clicked and everything is fine now. LOVE them!

  15. I would be livid too! Even though I hate my glasses, I would be lost without them.

  17. My eyesight isn't too bad, just the normal old age slightly fuzzy vision on reading, and every time I put on my specs I thank who-ever it was who invented them, I would be so lost if I couldn't read, so I hope you get yours back double quick time Beth.

  20. That's the annoying thing about small(er) towns... they always have to "farm out" their work to the city!
