Is today the end…

of this miserable heat wave?  I keep hearing this on the weather reports and in the news.  I will believe it when it happens.  Yesterday our actual temperature at 5 PM was 105 degrees.  I feel an extreme case of cabin fever even though I have gone out each day and done the necessary things.  I am feeling exhausted each day.  I must remind myself of all of this when it is the dead of winter and I am longing for spring.  I really like the spring and fall in Illinois.  I tolerate summer and winter.  This year we had no spring as it immediately was hot in March.  Now I am hearing no fall.  PLEASE!!!!

Now what to do today to keep busy?  I have read several books this past week and watched a few movies on TV; putzed around and generally overate.

As for overeating, what is for lunch?  I will have to look in my freezer and give that some thought.  For supper last night I fixed a big lettuce salad with boiled egg, shredded cheese, tomato and ranch dressing.  I had a peach for dessert.  It was good but I don’t do well with so much fresh stuff at once.

I hope it is cool wherever you are.  If so, send it along to central Illinois along with at least 2 inches of rain.

Do stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. I know! If I spend any amount of time in the heat, I feel yucky, depleted at the end of the day. Supposed to be in the 80s today. Yay!

Hang in there. Relief is coming.

  3. Only up in the 90's here and we have almost finally filled our pool! Unfortunately, it is really COLD now, but with our 90's weather, it will be warm enough to get into soon. Our Gypsy dog looks longingly through the barred barrier we have at the pool entrance---anxious to leap in at the first opportunity. Stay cool and read lots of neat books!

  6. Hi Beth,

Cool here, but stormy and humid and downpours and winds of all proportions, floods everywhere, not in my area but around England. The weather is certainly out of kilter everywhere.

    Take Care

  7. I wind up staying in after 1300 because it is too hot and miserable and sweaty being out even tho the car is air conditioned it has a tough time making me really comfortable in this heat that is like yours. So, I spend more time that I like right here. :-(

  9. High eighties for the most part for us so I'm not complaining really. I echo your sentiment about winter in particular. It was very easy for us this year really but nothing, absolutely nothing is worse than a bad winter here. Now that the 4th has past I expect the season will quickly head to the end of summer. Have a good day my friend.

  10. We had a break yesterday where it was only in the 70s, but the humidity was higher than the temperature. Today--right back up to 90 degrees. Not much of a break for us. But one cooler day was better than none. ;)

  11. We have had heavy rain here ...although it has been dry today until a short while ago. It feels like we have had no summer here in UK!! Yesterday some places had a month's rain in one day so there is a tremendous amount of flodding. It seems so strange to hear you complaining about the heat!! Isn't life strange? Joan

  20. So sorry you are suffering in the heat. We're told that we might hit 90 within the next few days . . . last year it didn't happen until mid August! our summers are typically mild, with a handful of hot days thrown in to give us some perspective. (Hot for us is 90+)

Wishing you some relief from the heat!
