Real tomatoes…

002

YES!!  These are real tomatoes sent to me from my son in law’s brother and his wife from their garden.  THANKS!!! Tim and Val.  Now if only I had a zucchini.  Jim and I always had a garden.  Not a big one, but big enough that we always had plenty of tomatoes to share with our neighbors.  Even after Jim died I would go out to our garden area each spring and hoe up a big enough space to plant 4 or 5 tomato plants.  All I have room for here are potted tomato plants  This year the heat killed them even though they were watered daily.

Our garden at home.

I have to go out this morning to the pharmacy and to run a couple of errands. It is to be mid 90s today.  We have had 26 days this month with over 90 temps which ties a record from 1887.  Out of those 26 days over a week was triple digit highs.  We are way below normal rainfall and our whole state along with many other states are drought disasters.

Have a peaceful day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  8. Our garden is struggling mightily, I still am wondering if we'll have one of our vegetables succeed, time will tell I guess. We keep everything watered too but it's just so dry. We sit at 91 for the moment...it was a lot hotter yesterday so I will not complain.

  9. I love our farmer's market here. No need to grow my own veggies:) Although it would be neat. The only thing I've recently had were peaches but they are now all gone:) Keep that a/c in car going:) It's a hot one out there!

  10. We had the second warmest July on record. Not as hot as yours, but hot for us, that for sure. We had the second warmest spring since 1893, too. Winter will come. Enjoy the fresh tomatoes while you can. ;)

  11. Hi Beth, just trying to catch up, My these tomatoes look good, mine have just failed miserably this year, too cold a spring, and too late to save them now, Add to that after a week of lovely sunny weather, it's back to chilly and grey, it seems we just can't meet in the middle can we?

  15. Hi Beth,

Enjoy your tomatoes, I like tomatoes too, but they seem to give me mouth ulcers these days and I have read they are not good for arthritic pains, so I tend not to eat them often.

It has cooled down somewhat here now and we again have rain.

    Take Care

  23. What wonderful tomatoes, real ones! I won't eat those hot house, pale, hard things.
We used to have a garden, too. But with Bill trucking & my ankle surgery and the drought this year...just not reality. They actually are now calling this a Mega Drought. It is so sad.

  24. I laugh that you ask for zucchini. Where I'm from that's a veritable life sentence! Every home has a garden, and every garden a zucchini plant. We all have zucchini coming out of our ears and are always looking for an unsuspecting victim who might love a basket of zucchini left on their porch. Wish I could share with you! Enjoy those tomatoes!
