15 seconds of fame…

I have done laundry and been out and about this morning.  It is warming up to be another hot day, although not anything to match what we have survived this summer.  Isaac is predicted to bring us 3 – 5 inches of rain this weekend.  We shall see.  We really do need rain but not so much at once.

Speaking of my header picture.  It does have a tiny bit of fame.  I had emailed it to the chief meteorologist at the local CBS station in Peoria.  It was shown as a background on the 5, 6, and 10 PM weather reports that day.  The weather guy didn’t even try to pronounce my last name, he just said courtesy of Beth from Pekin.  And that was the tree’s 15 seconds of fame.  It was quite a thrill seeing the tree on my 42 inch TV.  I had my 15 seconds of fame quite a few years ago when I donated several coats to a drive the local CBS station in Champaign was having.  I think I got asked a couple of questions and that was it!  Poof! I was no longer famous.  Have any of you had your 15 seconds of fame??

I am procrastinating here because I do not want to get the sweeper out and get busy.  I did clean the bathroom yesterday, but I am thinking that if it rains this weekend, that means a possibility of someone tracking in something.  So should I wait or go ahead and clean.  Decisions, decisions.

Oh shoot, I am going to go ahead and clean.  It will give me something to do.

You all stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  3. Yes Beth when I was 14 years old , I found a lost German Shepherd on my door step. I brought her in and fed her and gave her cuddles. I GOT HOLD OF THE LOCAL RAG and told them of her. The very NEXT Day my photo and the beautiful dog was on second page. She was indeed lost and returned to her rightful owner. Funny that she found her way to my doorstep.
Have a lovely week , but don't over do it with all that cleaning.
    Hugs Sheila xx

  8. Very exciting about your tree photo! I've had some of my cards published but that's been it. I say save the cleaning for another day!

  9. How exciting to have your tree photo on television! Yes, fame is fleeting. I think I would read a book rather than clean.:) That isn't what I've been doing today, though. Cleaning, sorting, and organizing have been the order of the day here.

15 seconds of fame.....never. Maybe some day:) Hope the rain comes and spreads out over an area and doesn't cause any flooding.

  14. That's awesome!! Famous for a day lol. Once I took a pic of my kids at a museum and sent it to a local tv program which accepts photos to maybe show right before commercials, and mine was chosen!! I dvr'd it but wasn't able to permanently save it. Oh well.

Hope you had a nice day :)

  17. How nice that must have been. It is a beautiful tree. At least you're preparing for Fall. Several different people who don't even know each other are talking about Christmas and some are showing pictures of lighted outside trees in the snow. I must say that it does look good after summer's heat. Enjoy.

  18. Yes, speaking of your picture in your header, very nice. Love the colors of Fall/Autumn... the smell of burning leaves that people make a bonfire of in their gardens, the crunchy sound the leaves make when you walk through them. Your pic brings sweet memories to mind, I am sure it may have for others too that seen it.
15 Minutes of fame... I have had a few. Comes with the job. None the less, easy come... easy go. Glad that you had your 15 minutes of fame experience.

  22. I think that the best moments in my life few people ever witnessed but I'm cool with that because I'll never forget them. It's been hot as all get out for us...that tree you have as a header seems to speak of cooler weather...it's a breath of fresh air to me!

  23. When I was in high school, our band was invited every year for the half time show at the Dallas Cowboy football game on Thanksgiving, and also for the Cotton Bowl parade. My sophomore year(1970-1971), they still showed the half-time show and I was visible on tv for a half a second. My parents saw me.

Also, about 21 years ago, I was a volunteer on the local part of the Jerry Lewis telethon answering the local phones here. They showed me on the top riser (it was 5 a.m.) and as the local emcee approached my riser, I prayed he wouldn't ask me any questions. My hubby and daughter were awake watching, and they said I looked terrified. They laughed about it for years.

ALSO, when I was 9 (we're going back a ways now), I had my picture on the front page of our paper. All the kids in my neighborhood had got together and built a "snow castle" when we had the most snow we've ever had in these parts....and I was the only one home when the telegram photographer came to take a picture of it, so I got my name in the paper as the one who built the snow castle. Everybody in my neighborhood was mad at me about that for quite a while.

Your fame was so much more well deserved...you actually DID something....you caught beauty at it's best forever in a picture for us all to see!
