Busy morning…

already.  I have made cookies in anticipation of my son’s promised visit this weekend.  The kind of cookie where you forage in  the freezer and dig out chocolate chips, mint chips, M & Ms, walnuts and use the trusted toll house recipe.  They are really good.  I know because I ate one, just to see if they were good enough for my son.  Later in the week I will make the lemon cream cheese bars that are his very favorite.

Lemon Cream Cheese Bars

Step 1.
Mix 1 box yellow cake mix with
1/3 cup oil and
1 egg
Mix until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup. Pat remaining mixture into a 13X9 ungreased pan. Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 15 minutes. Meanwhile do
Step 2.

Beat 8 ounce package of softened cream cheese with
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
1/3 cup sugar and
1 egg until light and fluffy.

Spread over baked crumb mixture. Sprinkle remaining crumbly mixture over top. Bake 15 minutes longer. Do NOT over bake. Chill completely and cut into squares. Refrigerate.

I have been to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions and I dropped by my daughter’s house to leave some cookies for her and Mike.  And now I am back home and that dreaded bathroom is hollering at me to come in there and clean it.  YUCK!!  The worst thing I hate about cleaning.

Thank you to my blogging friends that commented on my header photo.  I took the picture the first fall I moved here, October 2010.  The trees were beautiful that year.  This year the leaves are dying on the trees from the drought.  Some of the trees are bare already.

If you all were close by we would have a cup of tea and a cookie.  So until we do get to meet, please! stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

I am so glad you are getting a much needed visit in with the son, it is a blessing to have our children visit on so many levels, I love cooking the favorite things that I wouldn't make just for the 3 of us so my husband always tells the kids we don't eat like this unless you are coming over so do me a favor and visit your mom more often LOL Have a great day Beth HUGS

    LOL:)

Gosh that sounds so good right now. As for the trees shedding their leaves....

A natural biological reaction to a stressed enviroment....which means that in fall things will be "less" spectacular. I'm hoping that they leaf out normal again next year. Enjoy your guests and cookies:)

  28. Well, Beth, your picture should win some kind of award!!! That's the most breath taking tree I have ever laid eyes on. I'm so glad you caught that moment and shared it with all of us....I will never see a tree that looks like that here. NEVER.

Wish I was there to eat your lemon bars with you!!! They sound yummy!!!

  29. The tree is truly beautiful! Don't tell anyone but I give names to trees when they look like they want one. In my backyard there is a HUGE oak that I have named Moses. There is a willow in my front yard that I named Brianna. There are others but I won't tell you their names lest you think me super nutty!

I hate cleaning the bathrooms. Just so "ick".

  34. Cookies & Lemon Cream, Cheese bars sound very yummy. Nothing says home like home-baked goodies. I'm sure you are not surprised to learn that my favourite home fragrances are those involved with baking. Spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and foods like apple and pumpkin. Yum.

    1. Cleaning the bathroom, what a chore. Maybe subconsciously that is why I allow my daughter to come and stay with me, cause she's handy to have around. *wink wink*
