It rained…

and it rained all day long yesterday.  We got almost 2 inches which is a blessing for us.  Too late to help the farmers with this years crops but the ground is so low on moisture it will be a help.  Everything is looking beautifully green here.  Makes me smile!

I was reading in the paper yesterday that a cold snowy winter is predicted for our area.  I am not overly fond of snow because it has a habit of turning into ice but I am so sick of the heat and drought this summer that I  am willing to accept it.

I have been out this morning, to Menards, Big R, Goodwill and Food Depot.  And just now I received a call from the pharmacy telling me I had prescriptions ready for pickup.  I forgot all about them but I am not going out anymore today so I will pick them up tomorrow.  I am still downsizing and as soon as I read a book I put it in a sack for Goodwill.  I had 2 bags of books for them this morning.  I read 2 books over the weekend.

Lunch was a roast pork sandwich and 2 peaches.  The roast I fixed Saturday was delicious, very lean, just perfect.  It is all gone now though.  (Sigh)

I am enjoying the package from FedEx.  This is a good reception area, being so close to Peoria with lots of traffic.

I hope you all have a great week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  4. Rain here didn't last very long. Kind of on and off. Have a couple bags of books that need to go. Have to let ther girls check them first then off they go. I'm still not ready for winter. I'd rather escape into the a/c than deal with ice and snow.

  5. Heat is back here with several days supposed to be near 100 degrees. I hold little confidence in predictions about winter just yet. Winter's here have been very brutal with last year being the exception.

  6. As I write this we are getting a heavy rain. I am not looking forward to snow at all.UGH! My kids are though, they enjoy all four seasons God bless them. I have got to gather up all our old books and do the same thing. It is way over due! Have a great day Beth!

  7. We had major thunderstorms today and my tv and cable and phone were out for hours. I'm looking forward to cooler weather, but hopefully not too cold. Thanks for stopping by.

  8. If we ever got snow I would be looking forward to it too. Wow 2 inches of rain? We only get 10 inches in a normal year.
You were busy today. I didn't expect my day to start off like that very early this morning but it did.
    Your food sounds wonderful.
    Have a wonderful week Beth!

  10. You have had a busy day, Beth! How wonderful that you had enough rain to make a difference! I feel sorry for the farmers who have had such a dry year.:(

I am always sad when the good leftovers disappear.:( That just means it's time to prepare another one.:)

I would think there is no safe way to drive on ice, and in our area, I don't dare get out with ice on the road!

    Have a great Monday evening!

    xo Nellie

  12. Hi Beth,

Like the sound of the pork sandwich and peach. Don't like the sound of snow, winter seems to being coming round very fast for us, but then we haven't had too much summer sunshine, grateful though for the little we have had recently.

  14. A winter snowy storm??!!!! HOw crazy is that??? Your dinner made me hungry....especially the peaches. I've been having a fruit craving lately and yesterday at a whole thing of bing cherries. We don't get to eat them often here:) And you are a fast reader!! Two books in one weekend. I nurse mine to death. I try to read but I get tired a few pages into it and have to call it a night:) Enjoy that weather. It sounds actually kind of nice.

  16. Glad you got some rain. :)
I love the gorgeous header tree, too!!
We had hardly any snow last winter so I would welcome a normal snowy winter up here. I wonder what it will be like.
    Have a good week! :)

  20. Glad you got rain. After the year this nation has had, it is sorely needed. We had our 34th day of no measurable precipitation. Unreal for Seattle! I miss it. Reading is one of my favorite things too. I need to sort and move a lot of books. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  23. You got 2 inches? Lucky you! We got a half inch ... not that I'm complaining ... we're so desperate for rain here that I'll take it. I love snow (as long as it's just snow), so I hope we get plenty of snow. I love the picture at the top of your blog ... I'm so anxious for fall (although this drought is supposed to continue all the way through fall).

  24. What a nice blog you have! I found you from Janice's bog and just wanted to stop by to say hello. I love the music on your blog. How did you set that up--what program did you use? I used to have stream pod on mine with music but it just stopped one day and we were unable to get it set back up. Any advice? Newest follower now on your GFC!

  27. Ive been downsizing for a few years now that my loved children are on there own. I still have a beautiful guest room . I hope to move in a few years off the farm to a bigger house all on one level with a smaller garden and more flowers.
Time goes by so fast and here we are still blogging.
    Your lunch sounded wonderful.
    Take care my friend.

  28. I do love your new look Beth, I started to change mine but only got as far as the picture header.
I too have been downsizing, you have to when you get to your sixties, though I got there a good time ago :-( I hope your winter isn't going to be too cold, you'll soon be longing for the heat again.

  29. Hey Stranger! I am downsizing as well. Could I interest you in 8,000 comic books?
What's in this mysterious package from FedEx that you are emjoying so much? Hmmm. Are you hungry after you enjoy it? Pass it this way. I could use it.

  30. I am happy to hear that you finally had some rain. Sitting here hoping that we get some more rain here. I guess, the only thing one can do is pray for the best and hope Mother Nature makes up for it later... just seems like we have been doing that for quite awhile.
Winter is on its way... eventually and I am going to be preparing for the long COLD and windy days/nights. I agree. I love the snow, just wish that it would come without the cold and ice. Yes, I want it all.
