and it rained all day long yesterday. We got almost 2 inches which is a blessing for us. Too late to help the farmers with this years crops but the ground is so low on moisture it will be a help. Everything is looking beautifully green here. Makes me smile!
I was reading in the paper yesterday that a cold snowy winter is predicted for our area. I am not overly fond of snow because it has a habit of turning into ice but I am so sick of the heat and drought this summer that I am willing to accept it.
I have been out this morning, to Menards, Big R, Goodwill and Food Depot. And just now I received a call from the pharmacy telling me I had prescriptions ready for pickup. I forgot all about them but I am not going out anymore today so I will pick them up tomorrow. I am still downsizing and as soon as I read a book I put it in a sack for Goodwill. I had 2 bags of books for them this morning. I read 2 books over the weekend.
Lunch was a roast pork sandwich and 2 peaches. The roast I fixed Saturday was delicious, very lean, just perfect. It is all gone now though. (Sigh)
I am enjoying the package from FedEx. This is a good reception area, being so close to Peoria with lots of traffic.
I hope you all have a great week. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
awesome news on the rain! better late than never, for sure!
ReplyDeleteOh how I wished I could have came and shared a delicious pork sandwich with you and looked through your bag of books and had a visit.I just know we would have a lot to share. Take care. B
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear you got rain. We need more badly. Only got 1/4 inch. Well...we press on and turn the AC up untill fall.
ReplyDeleteRain here didn't last very long. Kind of on and off. Have a couple bags of books that need to go. Have to let ther girls check them first then off they go. I'm still not ready for winter. I'd rather escape into the a/c than deal with ice and snow.
ReplyDeleteHeat is back here with several days supposed to be near 100 degrees. I hold little confidence in predictions about winter just yet. Winter's here have been very brutal with last year being the exception.
ReplyDeleteAs I write this we are getting a heavy rain. I am not looking forward to snow at all.UGH! My kids are though, they enjoy all four seasons God bless them. I have got to gather up all our old books and do the same thing. It is way over due! Have a great day Beth!
ReplyDeleteBlessigs, Joanne
We had major thunderstorms today and my tv and cable and phone were out for hours. I'm looking forward to cooler weather, but hopefully not too cold. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteIf we ever got snow I would be looking forward to it too. Wow 2 inches of rain? We only get 10 inches in a normal year.
ReplyDeleteYou were busy today. I didn't expect my day to start off like that very early this morning but it did.
Your food sounds wonderful.
Have a wonderful week Beth!
Glad you got some rain. We got some last night and this morning. Things are looking green again. I do not care for bad snows or ice either. I am pryaing for some pleasant autumn temperatures this year. Smiles to you, Susie
ReplyDeleteYou have had a busy day, Beth! How wonderful that you had enough rain to make a difference! I feel sorry for the farmers who have had such a dry year.:(
ReplyDeleteI am always sad when the good leftovers disappear.:( That just means it's time to prepare another one.:)
I would think there is no safe way to drive on ice, and in our area, I don't dare get out with ice on the road!
Have a great Monday evening!
xo Nellie
Oh I am happy to read about the rain! Man do you guys ever EVER need it. I hope there is plenty plenty more. xox
ReplyDeleteHi Beth,
ReplyDeleteLike the sound of the pork sandwich and peach. Don't like the sound of snow, winter seems to being coming round very fast for us, but then we haven't had too much summer sunshine, grateful though for the little we have had recently.
Hugs Nita
I'm so glad the rain came through, even though it's a bit late. You got a lot of errands done today. I actually did too. Enjoy your evening!
ReplyDeleteA winter snowy storm??!!!! HOw crazy is that??? Your dinner made me hungry....especially the peaches. I've been having a fruit craving lately and yesterday at a whole thing of bing cherries. We don't get to eat them often here:) And you are a fast reader!! Two books in one weekend. I nurse mine to death. I try to read but I get tired a few pages into it and have to call it a night:) Enjoy that weather. It sounds actually kind of nice.
ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful tree in your header that has turned for fall - it is gorgeous. ANd I am so thankful you got rain! sandie
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some rain. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the gorgeous header tree, too!!
We had hardly any snow last winter so I would welcome a normal snowy winter up here. I wonder what it will be like.
Have a good week! :)
So glad you got rain We just had t-storm looking clouds but just sprinkles. I have a hard time getting rid of books, don't know why.
ReplyDeleteI love your fall decor....beautiful tree!!! What kind is that? Did you take the picture? Glad you got rain. Let's hope we get enough over the winter that the ground will store it up for next summer!
ReplyDeleteWell, aren't you just a reading whiz?;>) I have been passing my books along too and really sorting my library as I go. It feels good, doesn't it? I haven't had a pork roast in a long time! Blessings- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGlad you got rain. After the year this nation has had, it is sorely needed. We had our 34th day of no measurable precipitation. Unreal for Seattle! I miss it. Reading is one of my favorite things too. I need to sort and move a lot of books. Enjoy the rest of your week.
ReplyDeletewish the west would get some of the rain the rest of us are enjoying, those fires are a scary thing ! I love the picture at the top of your blog, makes me wish fall was here already, i cant seem to get my pictures to load any larger in the header then the tiny pic i have, i do not know what i am doing wrong but will keep trying, have a good week !
ReplyDeleteare you seeing fall already? wow.....really? where the heck are you that you seeing fall already? (sorry for the language am shock, my daughter is falling at me here.)
ReplyDeleteYou got 2 inches? Lucky you! We got a half inch ... not that I'm complaining ... we're so desperate for rain here that I'll take it. I love snow (as long as it's just snow), so I hope we get plenty of snow. I love the picture at the top of your blog ... I'm so anxious for fall (although this drought is supposed to continue all the way through fall).
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice blog you have! I found you from Janice's bog and just wanted to stop by to say hello. I love the music on your blog. How did you set that up--what program did you use? I used to have stream pod on mine with music but it just stopped one day and we were unable to get it set back up. Any advice? Newest follower now on your GFC!
ReplyDeleteIf I ever get out there, I would love to do lunch, Beth! You are wonderful! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to downsize too, I just put more things by the front door to donate. Now to actually get them out of the house ... lol.
ReplyDeleteLunch sounds yummy!
Ive been downsizing for a few years now that my loved children are on there own. I still have a beautiful guest room . I hope to move in a few years off the farm to a bigger house all on one level with a smaller garden and more flowers.
ReplyDeleteTime goes by so fast and here we are still blogging.
Your lunch sounded wonderful.
Take care my friend.
I do love your new look Beth, I started to change mine but only got as far as the picture header.
ReplyDeleteI too have been downsizing, you have to when you get to your sixties, though I got there a good time ago :-( I hope your winter isn't going to be too cold, you'll soon be longing for the heat again.
Hey Stranger! I am downsizing as well. Could I interest you in 8,000 comic books?
ReplyDeleteWhat's in this mysterious package from FedEx that you are emjoying so much? Hmmm. Are you hungry after you enjoy it? Pass it this way. I could use it.
I am happy to hear that you finally had some rain. Sitting here hoping that we get some more rain here. I guess, the only thing one can do is pray for the best and hope Mother Nature makes up for it later... just seems like we have been doing that for quite awhile.
ReplyDeleteWinter is on its way... eventually and I am going to be preparing for the long COLD and windy days/nights. I agree. I love the snow, just wish that it would come without the cold and ice. Yes, I want it all.
