A Monday kind of day…

I overslept this morning mainly because I had a restless night again for the third night in a row.  I had the alarm set and I  shut it off which is always a bad start for any day.  I finally dragged myself out of bed and took the bedding off to change the bed.  Then I proceed to march out of my front door towards the laundry room in my housecoat and slippers, hair uncombed and looking extra beautiful I’m sure.  It is about 10 feet to my laundry room door in full view of all 3 of my neighbors.  LOL  I wanted to start their day off with a smile.

Yesterday my daughter and son in law stopped by after church and had lunch with me.  We had roast beef, carrots, mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits.

Nothing much planned for this week.  I need to get some cleaning and rearranging done but I have to work up energy for that.

It is time for me to make my annual fruitcakes and get them soaking in rum for Christmas.  I need to gather all of the ingredients together first before I can start that.  It is an expensive venture.

I hope you all have a good week.  I am going to try to.  Do stay safe and be happy!!  For my friend Janice in California and for my cousin Bryce in south central Missouri, you are both in my thoughts and prayers!

Beth

  1. Still cooking those good dinners I see. And still into all of that baking, I give you credit, it is difficult for me to even start baking projects. Hope you have a great day and a great week.

  3. I look like that most days but the secret being a farmer is pull your coveralls over top. I can stay in my PJ"s all day:)

  7. So sorry you are not resting well. I know from John's sleep disorders, how terrible restless nights can leave you feeling. Sounds like you guys had a nice Sunday dinner.
Grandma's sister would always make fruit cakes in the fall and soak them for Christmas. Her house always smelled so good. You are right about the ingredients being so terribly expensive. Take care and have a nice afternoon. Did the package arrive yet?

  8. Your Sunday dinner sounds great! It seems like people don't do that anymore! Time with family is always special! I hope you have a super fabulous week!!!!

  9. I had a very similar dinner last night :) YUM! My grandmother used to make fruit cakes at Christmas. I loved only her's and now that she's gone, we cannot find the recipe. You made me laugh with your little story about the neighbors spotting you right when you woke lol. Happens to us all at some point I think.

Have a good week Beth :)

  11. I overslept too and missed my favorite show on 'metv', My Three Sons.' I guess I needed it. That dinner sounds so delish and it's always better shared with family.

  13. Beth, your Sunday dinner sounds scrumptious! I can smell the aroma right now....Mmm.
My mom had a recipe for what she called her Christmas Cake, and a few years ago, I began to make them, too. Not many, just about three or four, though. They aren't fruit cakes, they are what I would call Date Bread. I'll post the recipe on my blog sometime.
I went to bed with a migraine last night, and woke up with it, too. Here it is just after 12:00 Noon, and I'm FINALLY feeling better. Better now than never, though! Hope you're feeling more energized soon. That is a problem I've had all my life, a very low energy level. I do what I can, when I can. Happy week to you, Beth!

  16. How thoughtful of you to give your neighbors a thrill for the First Day of October, Beth!:)

Yes, fruitcake baking is an expensive undertaking. I haven't made any here in several years. It is that soaking that will make yours extra special.:)

  21. Dear Beth, I am sorry to hear that you are not sleeping well. I'm putting you in my prayers. Your Sunday dinner sounded so good, just the perfect meal for this time of year. Seems that in the Fall I start craving comfort food.
God bless your sleep tonight and may you dream beautiful dreams and wake tomorrow refreshed and filled with energy.

  24. That is too bad that you couldn't sleep. Nothing worse that that when you lay awake and then go to sleep and then the day just feels like there isn't enough coffee in the world.
I have spent a few of those lately.
Your lunch sounds wonderful. I hope you have a better nights sleep tonight.
    You are so sweet.

  25. When I can't sleep, I get up....no matter what time it is, and run me a very warm tub of water and then just sink into it....and it usually relaxes me so that I fall asleep in the tub for a while....then I get out and get back in bed and have never had a problem sleeping after that warm water. It always does the trick. Maybe you should try it sometime.

I think you are wonderful to put on a show to start your neighbors day off with a laugh! lol That's just too funny! I hope you get a great night's rest tonight!

  26. I'm usually off on Mondays But I have to admit I had very little energy to do anything. Laundry was on my list but so was doing nothing. Today I chose doing nothing. A mental health day if you will. Oh I did buy gas for the car today. No wonder I'm worn out.
    Take care my friend.

  27. I sleep in sweats in the winter, tshirt and lightweight pants in the summer, so if I go outside, no one realizes I'm in my pajamas ... of course, there's the matter of bedhead hair. ha!

I've been having some trouble sleeping well lately ... praying that we both get a good night's sleep tonight.

  30. You're so funny with taking your sheets to the laundry room like that! I hope you post a few photos of your fruit cake! Would love to see them. When we lose power, which isn't too often, we can't even flush the toilets because we're on a water pump and there is no power to run the pump to fill the toilets. Although I have learned to have water stored just in case. Enjoy your day!

  31. Nice one Beth thanks for the chuckle.
