My husband had just been diagnosed with lymphoma. I had started a blog on Windows Live Spaces shortly before that. I was overwhelmed and gave that blog up only to start it up again shortly after. I missed my blogging family.
There was Ariana, my very first blogging friend who was a teacher in Chicago at that time. I still know how to find her now as she is on Facebook and she comes to visit me once in awhile. And then next there was Carole in Tennessee, Carol in Michigan, Joe in Montana, Nicky in Scotland, Nita in England, Kerrie in Australia, Patsy in West Virginia, Nancy in Missouri, Stephen in Illinois, Stephen in Michigan, Shelly in Michigan, Sheila, Pen and Arlene in England and Paul in Boston who calls me his big sister and the list goes on and on. I can’t name everyone so I won’t even try, Just know that my Windows Live Spaces friends were and still are special friends to me. I even had the privilege of meeting a couple of them in person and chats on the telephone and on messenger with many of them. I cried when 3 of my blogging friends died.
Over 2 years ago Live Spaces kicked us out and moved our blogs over to Wordpress. That is when I started blogging on Blogger. And several of my old blogging friends started blogging here too. And I made a whole new list of blogging friends. My blogging family was getting larger. They care what happens to me and they show it.
I have made so many new friends here on Blogger. Among them is one special lady named Mildred who thought enough of me after I was in the hospital last month to send me a lovely gift.
It was lost in the mail for a few weeks but I finally received it yesterday afternoon. Thank you Mildred!!
I found a lovely young lady in California here on my new blogspot. Her name is Janice and she is battling cancer. I have adopted her as a daughter.
And here again in Blogger, the list goes on and on. I can’t name all of you but you are all special to me. You lift me up each day with your posts and comments.
Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
I'm so sorry about your husband. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are blogging. I think it really helps us to have another support system in times like that.
Hi Beth,
ReplyDeleteGreat post to read, my blogging friends mean a lot to me too. You and Kerrie, are probably the two I have known longest and kept in touch with most. I have spoken to you both on messenger and I have spoken 2/3 times with Kerrie on the phone. Some of the live spaces friends are on facebook and I still have contact with them there. I am pleased that you and Kerrie, have made contact again, very pleased.
Hugs Nita
Well as much as you feel so close to the blogger friends
ReplyDeletewe have for sure found the same in you.

You, in turn, lift us up as well Beth. I miss Spaces to, as do most of us that were there, but we have moved here together and the family continues to grow. XXXX OOOO,s
ReplyDeleteBeth, This is a sweet post, thank you. I love blogging, yes it takes abit of time, but the support from so many in times of need is so worth it. We are all blessed to have found each other. smiles, Susie
ReplyDeleteBeth, I don't always comment but I read your blog every time you post the link. My blogging days are gone, but I still love to read yours. Many of us are still connected through FB. I will never forget your making me a dvd from one of yours that I just had the cassette for. I really needed to hear my music and you surprised me with that special gift. It surprised me to learn it all started in 05, seems like ages ago. I remember Jim's passing and how you dealt with your pain by pouring your heart into your blog. I'm still here, silently reading...Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI only have about 5 blogging friends....that ever comment on my blogs....I don't know if anyone else reads it....but you 5 mean so much to me...I just lost Moannie to cancer...she was the world to me after a year and a half of being my blogging friend. I thank you so much, Beth, for stopping by my blog to comment each day. I don't know how you make the time, but you do, and it is very, very much appreciated. I always said, to have a friend, you have to BE a friend, and by the number of your friends, you can see what a wonderful person and GREAT blogging friend you are! (and thanks for the enthusiastic "where on earth do you work?" on that post. I decided to delete that post so I wouldn't get fired.)
ReplyDeleteit is so true - this blogging community has expanded our world and our hearts. mildred is a true dear.
ReplyDeleteI echo every word, my dear Twin. That is how I feel as well and you already know you are extraordinarily special to me. You always will be. I know that you care about me and what happens to me as much as I do you and the rest of my blog friends.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to all I pray.

Beth, that is wonderful. I always wonder about losing a friend on blogger from disease, etc. I can't imagine. I'll admit that I cried when one of my blogger friends lost their cat just a couple weeks ago. We become family and it's comforting to hear what's going on in everyone's world. Lovely thoughts and what a great community we are fortunate to experience together....the highs and lows.
ReplyDeleteHope you count me among your blogging friends (even though I am a fairly new follower). I always look forward to your posts. Blogging is fun and certainly has enriched my life. I have got some many cool ideas that have helped me be a better wife, mom, grandma, teacher, friend, etc. Hope you are doing better after your hospital stay. Keep blogging, my friend!
ReplyDeleteBeth, this is a very sweet post. I have many blogging friends too, and they are all just wonderful.

I just starting following Mildred's blog and she is so sweet! She has already helped me with a situation regarding my grandma's health. Speaking of my grandma, she was so tickled when I passed on all the birthday wishes to her from all my wonderful blogging friends. :)
