It is so cold…

and even though I put on 2 pairs of gloves today my fingers still felt frozen.   I went out about 8 this morning to get an early start on stock up grocery shopping.  My next door neighbor came out about the same time and we stood in the bitter cold and chatted for a bit.  She told me that her husband had a heart event at work yesterday and was taken by ambulance to a Peoria hospital.  Heart attack and blocked arteries were ruled out.  He is having a pacemaker implanted today.  I listened carefully because a pacemaker will be the next step for me if my meds don’t start working together.

The weather tomorrow is to be snow developing tonight.  On Sunday  we may have freezing rain again.  I am really tired of winter and I am longing for spring.

american robin

This picture is from the internet.  Last winter it was so mild that the robin stayed with us all winter.  Not so this winter.  They are in a warmer climate right now trying to decide if they will ever come back to Illinois.  Winking smile

I have visited most of you and I am on my way to catch the rest.  Have a good weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  6. It's cold here too, Beth! We're expecting freezing rain tonight, which I'm not thrilled about at all. Take care and stay warm!

Have a great upcoming week too!

  8. Our daughter lives in Minneapolis. We talked to her this morning. Thank goodness she is retired.

We have not had the ususal cold here in Seattle area this winter. Our grandson in Utah had a new to him car since his wife slid on ice and totaled their other one. Luckily she and the children weren't hurt badly. He said it was terrible going to work on ice this morning so he kept 11 car lengths ahead of him.

Stay warm, Beth. I hope it warms up soon for all of you. BGB

  9. Yes...the Robins are here feasting on little berries. I see that weather and can't believe how cold it will be for places like Minnesota. I remember winters like that......when it's so cold that if you touch the windows, it would break shatter the glass. Stay warm.

  10. I know when we head back north it's going to be cold.

  11. It's been below zero most days this week. I'm glad I'm retired so I don't have to go out in the cold.
If you have to have a pacemaker put in Beth, it is a very easy surgery and you can usually go home the day afterwards. My mother just had one put in a few weeks ago and the procedure went very well and she's in her 90's.

  22. It's been colder here in Alabama this year too. It was nice this morning, but the clouds moved in and the wind out of the north was biting.

  24. It is still very cold here as well. Tomorrow it's suppose to be just as cold and snowy. I plan on going nowhere. I'm not the type of person that needs to be out of the house every day any way. Sorry your neighbor had to have surgery. Let's hope the medication continues to work on your heart problem. I'm assuming you have a problem with the rhythm? I have SVT and they said down the road it could lead to a pacemaker as well. But I'm praying that's a long way off for me as well as for you! Enjoy your day.

  25. Sorry to hear it is so cold there. We had our hottest day for January since WWII...83 degrees. It's too warm for this time of year already! We will just dry up and turn to dust this summer. Be glad for your cold weather and snow and ice. I wish we would get some!

I pray your meds will work this time. Hugs.

  30. I have been amazed as the rest of the country languishes in the cold we usually have at this time of year...I can't figure out why it's like this. I pray that you won't need surgery and that the medication does just what it's supposed to. Robins are such a sign of hope, I love to see them return...more then that though are the Western Meadow Larks who have the sweetest song ever...I can't wait to have that again!
