and even though I put on 2 pairs of gloves today my fingers still felt frozen. I went out about 8 this morning to get an early start on stock up grocery shopping. My next door neighbor came out about the same time and we stood in the bitter cold and chatted for a bit. She told me that her husband had a heart event at work yesterday and was taken by ambulance to a Peoria hospital. Heart attack and blocked arteries were ruled out. He is having a pacemaker implanted today. I listened carefully because a pacemaker will be the next step for me if my meds don’t start working together.
The weather tomorrow is to be snow developing tonight. On Sunday we may have freezing rain again. I am really tired of winter and I am longing for spring.
This picture is from the internet. Last winter it was so mild that the robin stayed with us all winter. Not so this winter. They are in a warmer climate right now trying to decide if they will ever come back to Illinois.
I have visited most of you and I am on my way to catch the rest. Have a good weekend. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
i hate to tell you, then, here it is 70 degrees currently. 74 is expected high in NE Tx. wish i could send a bit to illinois for you.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the cold either.
ReplyDeleteThankfully here in Arkansas the winters are fairly mild most of the time.
Sure hope and pray your meds start working...
Stay warm Beth! Spring is almost here ☺
ReplyDeleteOh Goodness stay warm my dear! I hope the robin comes back soon!!!
ReplyDeleteWe had a sheet of ice on our roads this morning. I hate ice. Seriously - - spring better hurry!
ReplyDeleteIt's cold here too, Beth! We're expecting freezing rain tonight, which I'm not thrilled about at all. Take care and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteHave a great upcoming week too!
Blessings,
Tammy
Love the robin, I saw them here yesterday which is a very early spring arrival!
ReplyDeleteOur daughter lives in Minneapolis. We talked to her this morning. Thank goodness she is retired.
ReplyDeleteWe have not had the ususal cold here in Seattle area this winter. Our grandson in Utah had a new to him car since his wife slid on ice and totaled their other one. Luckily she and the children weren't hurt badly. He said it was terrible going to work on ice this morning so he kept 11 car lengths ahead of him.
Stay warm, Beth. I hope it warms up soon for all of you. BGB
Yes...the Robins are here feasting on little berries. I see that weather and can't believe how cold it will be for places like Minnesota. I remember winters like that......when it's so cold that if you touch the windows, it would break shatter the glass. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteI know when we head back north it's going to be cold.
ReplyDeleteIt's been below zero most days this week. I'm glad I'm retired so I don't have to go out in the cold.
ReplyDeleteIf you have to have a pacemaker put in Beth, it is a very easy surgery and you can usually go home the day afterwards. My mother just had one put in a few weeks ago and the procedure went very well and she's in her 90's.
Afternoon, Miss Beth !
ReplyDeleteI am tired of the cold too--have things need doing, but cannot get myself motivated to go outside and do them./ lol
We're taking it easy in the house today, me and Miss Roxie. She's having a heart event too.
Stay warm !!
Another real cold day here too. I would be nice to see robins about now!! : )
ReplyDeleteHi Beth,
ReplyDeleteLove your bird picture, sorry you are now getting the cold weather. Ours is set to turner warmer at weekend, but then we will have strong winds and rain and floods, we are being told.
I so look forward to Spring too.
Hugs Nita.
I wish I could send you some warmth and sunshine. It's beautiful here today. I have the back door open so the dogs can run in and out. May God bless you and I pray your meds work.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
You stay safe as well Beth, and hopefully Happy.
ReplyDeleteThey will come back and I hope your meds work.
ReplyDeleteSpring will come. It WILL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture of a Robin. I can't wait until we start seeing them in person. Sounds like your weather is about like ours cold. My fingers don't seem to warm up either.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same here. Frigid! We're supposed to hit 40 next Wed. 6 more days of this.
ReplyDeleteWe have an ice storm predicted for overnight here. The local schools have already announced their closures. I send along wishes for you to stay safe and warm! xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your neighbor. I'm so tired of the winter here too. I just can't take the cold anymore. I'm looking forward to having the robins come back too.
ReplyDeleteIt's been colder here in Alabama this year too. It was nice this morning, but the clouds moved in and the wind out of the north was biting.
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
I remember that robin you had last winter. It is really cold here, too. We are below zero now -xo Diana
ReplyDeleteIt is still very cold here as well. Tomorrow it's suppose to be just as cold and snowy. I plan on going nowhere. I'm not the type of person that needs to be out of the house every day any way. Sorry your neighbor had to have surgery. Let's hope the medication continues to work on your heart problem. I'm assuming you have a problem with the rhythm? I have SVT and they said down the road it could lead to a pacemaker as well. But I'm praying that's a long way off for me as well as for you! Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear it is so cold there. We had our hottest day for January since WWII...83 degrees. It's too warm for this time of year already! We will just dry up and turn to dust this summer. Be glad for your cold weather and snow and ice. I wish we would get some!
ReplyDeleteI pray your meds will work this time. Hugs.
Hope you are feeling a bit warmer today, it is still bloody hot here and have to have the air con on all day and half the night....
ReplyDeleteStay safe & warm. I did errands too yesterday, in case this weather decides to snow...or start freezing rain again. Bill is going through your area headed to Iowa again. He gets around.
ReplyDeleteI am sure your neighbour will be ok with a pacemaker..marvelous if you need one.
ReplyDeleteKeeps warm, and I will try and keep cool :)
Sorry to hear of that cold spell your having Beth....Cold here but the rain has returned , wet and very cold.
ReplyDeleteLovely Spring my that's a nice thought.
Hugs Sheila take care xx
I have been amazed as the rest of the country languishes in the cold we usually have at this time of year...I can't figure out why it's like this. I pray that you won't need surgery and that the medication does just what it's supposed to. Robins are such a sign of hope, I love to see them return...more then that though are the Western Meadow Larks who have the sweetest song ever...I can't wait to have that again!
ReplyDeletePeople in your neck of the woods are really having a severe taste of winter this week. I hope you thaw out and have warmer days soon!
