And the snow did come…

About 4 inches of it.    That is my car in the front of the pic.  If you click on the pic you will see the tree that I filmed each month last year and the cemetery behind me.  I will have to get out after a bit and try and clean my car off.  There was a period of freezing drizzle mixed in so that makes it a bit tougher.  Have I mentioned a few thousand times that I miss my garage?

I did go to Kroger yesterday morning and get the basic items needed for when the weather gets bad.  The store was full of wall to wall shoppers and all of the check out lanes were open.

Then I came home and turned on the Jodi Arias trial.  The cross examination was beginning and I was riveted. Juan Martinez, the prosecutor was not kind to Arias.

My DVR has not been working properly so I had to wait for a technician to come.  I have a new DVR but I lost all of my settings and shows that I had recorded so that didn’t make me happy.  I was told that the DVR’s have a hard drive like a computer and that was going bad on my old one.  I will give ITV-3 a plug here and mention that there was no charge at all for me.  I am so happy that I got rid of Comcast last year.  They have such rude customer service and they are raising their rates each month.  My daughter has Comcast with the cable and internet hookup and she pays only $2 less per month than I do with phone, internet and cable and DVR.

Finally after the technician left I decided to make some banana bread.  It was just beginning to snow but I went out to a couple of my neighbors to deliver a loaf of warm banana bread.

Banana Bread (my recipe site)

This is the recipe I have used for banana bread for all of my married life. Jim loved it. I will never forget him sitting in by the front window in July 2006 eating banana bread and drinking a glass of milk while he was watching the city finally put a new curb in front of our house.

•1 cup margarine
•2 cups sugar
•4 eggs
•1/4 teaspoon salt
•2 teaspoons soda
•4 cups of flour
•6 large ripe bananas mashed
•1 cup chopped pecans (may use walnuts)

Have oven preheated to 350 degrees. Sift the dry ingredients together and set aside. Cream the margarine, sugar and eggs together. Add the flour mixture together alternately with the mashed bananas to the creamed mixture. Fold in the pecans. Pour into two loaf pans (or several small loaf pans) that have been sprayed with cooking spray. Bake for approximately 1 hour for lg loaf pans. Watch smaller pans. Bread is done when the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Then I came back in and got immersed in the trial again.  Arias just set there and smirked all the while she was being questioned.  I think she is a pathological liar.

I am ready to come and visit you all and I am bringing homemade banana bread.  Coffee for you, tea (decaf) for me please.  Stay safe and be happy!!

  1. I had a problem with my DVR last fall and they had to replace it, resulting in my losing a lot of my shows as well :/

  2. Yumm that Bread sounds baking here much..glad you did not get a whole lot of snow..looks like some areas got it bad. Yes people flock to the stores like there is NO tomorrow sometimes.. I just make sure I can hunker for at least a week.. heheh.. Not watching the trial..don't have that channel..your bread smells wonderful all the way to my house..heh Stay well and warm Sis..XOXO

  3. Good luck with the snow and getting your car cleaned off. I so appreciate my heated garage!

  4. Hi Beth,

Sorry to hear about the snow. It keeps trying to snow here too, hopefully it will not succeed

    Hugs Nita

  5. I'll have some banana bread and believe it or not, I remember when that curb was being put in back then!!! XXOO

  6. our dvr has been acting up a bit. i am not willing to get it replaced, though, until we get thru all the stored programs. :)

  7. We got about 2" of snow here. Enough.
We got rid of Comcast about 4 years ago. It was constantly acting up and very expensive. Not worth it!

  8. Bread sounds yummy! I have three ripe bananas so I might try to make a loaf ☺

  9. I got a weird message the first time I tried to comment...hope it works right this time. ugh, frustration!

You are such a kind, thoughful person to bake banana bread and then go out in the snow to take it to your neighbors! I loved your lemon bread recipe, but I don't care for banana bread. My hubby loves it, but I'm not telling him about this post. :)

  10. Banana bread sounds great!
    Snow, not so good.

  11. Mmmm...banana bread does sound good. We had a big breakfast this morning and I got out a jar of pumpkin butter for the toast. Oh, my !! It was really good...hadn't tasted one yet, I guess since I had the GHreat Pumpkin Debacle here at Honeysuckle Hill. lol

We're snowed in, pretty much, although the Irishman is out there now trying to dig his truck out. lol We got 7-8 inches of the stuff, but luckily, we dodged the whole ice storm thing. Yay!! So it's all heavy wet snow.

I wish you were MY neighbor, but since you're not, amybe I'll make some pumpkin bread or banana bread today too. I have overripe bananas in the freezer at all times. You know, in case of emergency. LOL

    Happy Friday, dear one.

  12. I hope it isn't too difficult to clean off the car. I am so glad I have a garage, even if it isn't heated.
We got snow here too and it keeps snowing off and on. I hope the wind doesn't come up.
    Enjoy the banana bread!

  13. I totally understand about the garage because last year I didn't have one and so I had to install a block heater in my truck along with the other pains in the butt about not having a garage. I think I thank God at least 5 times a day whenever i go out there to work ;-)

  14. Good morning, Beth. It is strange for us, but we have had no snow and this is the third mild winter. It is 40 degrees right now. Cloudy and rainy as usual, but I'll take that any day over ice and snow. There is plenty of snow in the Olympic and Cascade mountains on each side of us and Mt. Rainer always has snow. By Mar.1st we always have Cherry trees in Bloom and there are streets lined with them. Sooo pretty. Your Banana Bread sounds wonderful. come on over. ;o) BGB

  15. Oh man I hope it warms up there soon for you!

The banana bread sounds so yummy! I so want a piece!!

I'm sorry your box was acting up! I'm so glad you switched they really do have the worst customer service. Sadly in some places they know they corner the market and don't have to be nice .. UGH

  16. My condolences on the weather my friend, that's worse then what we have and yet I still find it gets very old. We have been really enjoying Netflix for our viewing pleasure...such fun to watch even old series commercial free. I hope your issues get fixed. We did our grocery shopping done yesterday too..I'm so glad to be done. Oil change and a walk in store for us today...sound exciting?

  17. I wish I were a neighbor of yours! :) I will use this recipe, thank you!
    That trial is so upsetting!

Stay warm and have a happy and safe weekend!

  18. Oh dear Beth, all that snow and you have to shovel it off your car, then you get trouble with your techie gear, I'm not sure what it is, but it can be a pain when it goes wrong. I too have a nice recipe for banana bread, but I find it uses so many eggs and bananas it's not cheap, so I pass on it. I'll post the recipe for my cake on my blog. thanks for calling by, an keep warm.

  19. Oh Beth I am waiting and I am hungry we shall have a great visit. Hug B

  20. I am going to try this recipe as well. Got one for Fried Chicken? I can't ever get it right..

I agree.. Arias is a liar.. I hope she fries.

Stay warm and toasty up there.. its been in the 80s here. : )

  21. Jody Arias truly makes me ill. We hear a lot about her trial since it is taking place literally up the road from where I live. Looks like a nice snow storm -- just perfect for being cozy, watching TV and baking.

  22. I saved this recipe, Beth. I am always trying new banana bread recipes to find the "perfect one" for my son. I'll let you know how it turns out for me!
That Jody Arias is certifiable. I hope she does NOT get away with this whole thing!
Hope you have a good night- xo Diana

  23. I heard you were going to get hit - stay in!

  24. And I am all ready for you to come visit me! I will even add some cherry pie to the party! And - I will invite our friend who lives in the next town over! Won't we have a grand time?!

We truly appreciate our garage! We are sure to have room in the garage to park the cars!

    Stay warm and safe!

    xo Nellie

  25. Hi Beth, The snow looks pretty. But what is mother nature thinking? Enough with the snow! Happy for you that there wasn't a charge for fixing your DVR. Love banana bread. Hugs, Anna

  26. As I sit here with the air con going I look at pictures of snow covered cars and think how wonderful and stange it is that I have friends in countries that have snow while I have stinking bloody hot days........or just hot days

  27. You got snow! Hope yours melts soon! I love my garage..except when it comes time to clean it out! We always eat all our bananas..but your bread sounds good..I have never made it:)

  28. No wonder you miss your garage with weather like this! Hope you stay warm and safe.
