The sound of…

lightning and thunder and heavy rain was heard for hours yesterday and overnight.   We were under a tornado watch when I went to bed.  It is still raining here this morning with severe thunderstorm warnings out.  We are under a flash flood watch until late tonight.  I live near the Illinois River but not in the area that would be flooded.  Our total rainfall for the last 24 hours so far is somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 inches.  Because we had heavy rain last week the ground is saturated.  No more rain deficit!

The weather has put off my Thursday grocery shopping until tomorrow morning.  And there is no sense cleaning when the weather is so miserable.  So that leaves the Arias trial for me to watch unless Jodi is still suffering from a migraine headache today.  She did look awful in court yesterday.  I think she looks rather gaunt lately and is not smirking so much.  I am liking the expert witness that the prosecution has.  The defense is not having much luck getting  her to back away from her testimony.

I hope you all have a good day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Thunder here and heavy rain last night..lots of lightning but NO watches except for the FLOOD ones. Rivers are at a capacity and overflow now. I hear you on the trial thing.. I was able to see how she looks and she does look like she is more tired etc. Seems this trial is taking a longggg time. Hope you are free of such bad storms today. I was sorry to hear our dear friend Stephen Kent had passed. What a loss of a dear person. :-(

  3. Spring floods and other devastating weather conditions impacts so many each year. It certainly leaves many with feelings of despair.

I hope you remain high and dry.

  4. Our rainfall total for the year is seven inches above the average, but we have had no severe storms as yet. There is a chance in the forecast for overnight, though. Hope you will not find yourself in the midst of severe weather warnings.

    Have a good day!

  6. I think we're still under a tornado watch this morning. All day yesterday. Lots of rain today, almost none yesterday. Actually got sunny and hot...but that was then--this is now. lol

I'm going back and forth and going out or just staying in again today. I think you know what the answer will be. ;)

  8. I hope that you don't get anymore rain for awhile and that there is no flooding in your area. A thunderstorm would be nice here. We are having more snow.

  10. I'm glad you are out of the flooding areas and hope the tornado doesn't come your way. I wish the experts would look out their accu-window and see rain, rain, and more rain for the last few days. S--- flurries on the weekend.

  11. Oh- This weather is so horrible, isn't it? AWFUL!!!! It is cold and rainy here today, too. I wonder if he Arias trial will be interrupted by the tragedy in Texas? She is NOT looking good and I think she realizes that she is in a losing battle now. xo Diana

  14. It sounds like rain and storms are the topic of conversation today! The Illinois farther upstream from you is getting really bad! Lots of flooding around my parts! Stay dry!!

  15. Yikes Beth - 5 inches of rain is a lot. We drove to Milwaukee yesterday in rain all the way down, but it quit after the first hour on the way back. You could see where some areas were flooding. This weather sure is strange again this year. I'm not sure what is normal anymore.

  16. WE had a terrific thunder storm yesterday. A lightening bolt struck VERY near and the resultant crack of thunder was deafening. It scared the cat badly and that is the first I have seen of her afraid.

  25. Floods are just as horrible as droughts! We got 9", and my basement flooded. In 30 years, my basement has never flooded! What a day, and what a mess.

  26. Good morning Beth,

We had that same weather last night (Thurs). They cancelled our class at church because of the threat of bad weather. We got ALOT of rain...some flooding here as well. And it's cold...not sure what happened to spring! This weekend is looking up though!

    Have a great weekend!

    Blessings,
