Devastation…

I am heartsick over the devastation caused by the tornadoes in Oklahoma.  The loss of life, especially the children, is hard to take.  My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/20/us/oklahoma-tornado-developments/index.html

We were lucky here.  My weather radio was constantly going off and we were under a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch until 3 AM.  It all passed to the northwest of here and all I heard was distant thunder.  It is sunny this morning but we still have a chance of  thunderstorms.

The Arias trial fizzled out yesterday as there were no mitigation witnesses to call for the defense.  Supposedly Arias will speak to the jury today and this trial can wind down.  And then, no more trial watching for me.  This one has worn me out.

Have a great day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  3. Glad you were out of the path. We had some wicked scary winds and torrential rains (looked like a monsoon out there) and hail too. So far as I can see, no damage. But just 10 miles from here 2 towns suffered a lot of damage...tore up a firehouse and lots of houses lost roofs. No power because electrical lines all came down. They're saying they don't know if it was straight line winds or tornado.

Prayers for OKlahoma. Even more for their politicians, who kept voting against government disaster assistance.

  5. We had a whopper of a storm pass to the north of us last night, just scraping the edge of our area....and it had more baseball size hail. I had never even heard of baseball size hail until this year.

  7. That tornado running virtually the same path as the monster in '99 is beyond horrible. That previous tornado had the highest winds ever recorded...just think of that. We've never had anything close to that here...a few small tornadoes over a span of many years. I remember living in Tulsa, OK in the early eighties...there we learned to fear the skies.

  19. The tragedy in Okla. hurts us all. We hurt when innocent little children lose their lives and for their families, and for everyone in the cities that went through it. God bless them all, and help them move forward.
Have a nice holiday weekend, Beth. BGB
