Getting too old…

for these late night baseball games.  The last couple of nights have about done me in.  Congrats to the Red Sox for winning last night.  We are all tied up now at 2 wins each.

I have been feeling really nostalgic lately.  I am not sure if it is the events of this past summer or what.  I am especially missing my sister Mary Evelyn (Ebby).  After I was retired I could count on the phone ringing at 6 AM every morning just so Ebby could tell me hi.  It will be 16 years in December since she died of pancreatic cancer just one month after her birthday on November 5th.  Ebby was 3 years older than me.  She bought  my class ring for me when I was a junior in high school and a pair of shoe skates, also clothes.

Beth and Ebby

Beth on the left with my sister Ebby.  I was 14 (a freshman in High school) and she was 17 and a senior.

Blogger dashboard is not publishing my posts until about 10 –12 hours after I have written them.  I can’t figure that one out.

I hope we all have a good week.  Stay safe and be happy.

  8. What a wonderful photo Beth. With the holidays coming I always think of all the people in my family who aren't here anymore.

By the way I am seeing this for the first time at about 6:15 p.m.
    What will tonight's game bring...?

  11. I don't understand the problem with Blogger, Beth. I hope it isn't a sign of a trend.

Yes, these baseball games are on too late for us here.:-) The games are really having surprise endings, too.

That is a good picture, Beth. How wonderful that you have such good memories.

    xo Nellie

  15. What a lovely sister, and you were an adorable pair. I don't watch baseball, but it always makes me think of my dad sitting on our patio, listening to a game on the radio, and smoking his pipe.

    Love,

  18. Your sister must have been such a wonderful sis to you. A call every morning, priceless. MO is called the show off state instead of show me state they say. Cards and Tigers and Chiefs are all tops in the sports scene. WhooHoo!

  19. Love the picture. You both look so happy. What an amazing sister she must have been to have been so generous. Did one of you just finish mowing the lawn with that push mower?

Don't you wish we had little time machines we could board and travel back to those times? If you have never seen the movie Peggy Sue Got Married, you ought to check it out at your local video store. Kathleen Turner and Nicolas Cage are in it....and she takes a trip back in time.....and when she sees her mom and little sister again.....well, it will make you just weep! And when she sits with her grandparents.....well, just watch it. You will love it.

  21. Autumn always makes me feel nostalgic and reflective.
As for Blogger, it has been giving me grief, too. It sometimes publishes things I have in draft! Other times, it doesn't show others that I have published a post until hours later. I am afraid Google+ is making it worse; it's too controlling.

  22. What a great picture Beth. I never had a sibling, so am very envious of my friends who do have a sister (especially) who they are very close to. My mother was from a family of 12, so I miss all that family togetherness.

  24. Oh I know what you mean about staying up. Would you believe actually fell asleep during the PACKER GAME? Now that's tantamount to being run out of the state so please don't tell. Love the picture. You girls are so happy in it.
