How the Wednesday Rant came into being…

It was over 8 years  ago about this time of the year in 2005.  There were about 50 or so of us humans, mostly from the good old USA, who were blogging on a fairly  new blogging forum called Windows Live Spaces.  We had all gotten to be good blogging friends and we called ourselves a blogging family.  Jim had been diagnosed with lymphoma a few months earlier and I was trying to find a way to express myself.

At one time or another most of us had received a blogging award from Spaces, some more than one.  There were a lot of problems at Spaces.  Collectively the bunch of us decided to have one day a week that we could rant about Spaces and other things that were bothering us.  And that is how the Wednesday Rant Day came into being.

I still have several of my blogging friends that follow my blog here.  My twin, who was among my first blogging buddies, Paul, Joe, Nita, Rhapsody, Terry and many who are on Facebook now that read my blog from there.  Windows Live Spaces closed its doors to blogging  in mid 2010 and we had the choice of moving our blogs to Word Press or having them deleted.  I made a copy of them and then sent them to Word Press which I am not very fond of.  I have 3 blogs there and I update them sporadically.  I have 3 blogs here on Blogger.

http://bethmariesmainblog.wordpress.com/    This is one of my Word Press blogs.  You can go back as early as 2006 on there.  I had deleted my first blog from 2005.

I hope you all have a great weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  3. Beth, Some of you out there are like computer wizzards and I am a computer flop. I am doing well to get my pitiful blog to not have ..shh....blogger problems. Don't want to say that too loud you know. I think people do not mind if we rant, as long as it's not our only blogging. Cause heaven knows there's enough to complain, whine , or gripe about for all of us. Hope your bad is over and done and that this weekend is fun and happy for you. Thinking of you, xoxo,Susie

  4. I met you here - I had no idea that you had been blogging that long. Does this mean you are changing blog platforms?

  6. I can't remember when you and I first became blogging friends, but I do remember it was through my son, Jim Jr. He put my choir singing in church on his blog and you responded to that. It was while Windows Live Spaces was still up and running. I love your blogs and hope I will soon get to the place where I can blog more often. Now that I am on the Parkinson's meds, I am feeling so much better, but still trying to make up the ten years of mis- diagnosis when I was treated for Essential Tremor and Depression. I didn't think I was that depressed but was never sent to a neurologist. My new doctor did and I am so glad not to have the shaking and terrible debilitating fatigue. I am beginning to get my life back.

  7. yes, we will never again have the warmth of as MANY as we had there because many of our friends don't wish to blog here and just FB. When the last privacy goes away (makes me sad) I will leave FB.

  16. I've thought of starting a second blog strictly for photography but I am not sure yet. Sometimes I am not the best multi-tasker :)
And isn't it wonderful making connections through blogging? We really do become like a family :)

  18. I loved Live Spaces, though I don'tbthink I.d been blogging as long as you Beth, I saved some of my old blogs from it onto an external drive, and get a bit nostalgic for it. :-) I use windows Live Writer to compose and post the same one to Word press. Iy's not as versatile for customising, but as a couple of friends followed me there, it helps us keepin touch. Interesting post Beth.

  19. You certainly have a long blogging history! I don't remember Live Spaces. I started my blog in 2007 and have always been on blogger. We do get to be like family with our blogging friends don't we. One of my favorite blogging friends decided to quit her daily blog last week and that made me sad. I hope you stick with it, Beth! I hope you have a great week and continue feeling better and stronger.

  23. I didn't realize you had a few blogs. I myself tried Word Press and didn't really like it, much prefer Blogspot. Good that you have friends from way back joining you here, that is lovely.

  24. You and Carole are my are among my first, if not my first blogging buddies. Spaces was fun for a while. Spaces became a muddled mess. Blogger is so much easier to deal with. I on the other hand am having difficulty with my computer. I am writing this on my little laptop computerette, 10" by 7" I hope to be back at full strength in a couple of days.

  25. I don't think I have been blogging as long as you Beth..When I did start at Spaces I wasn't sure what to write about. Living in the country with not a lot happening and all that. I found you there maybe a few years later and I am so glad I did.
