why the pipe line workers don’t use the laundry facility. I live in a very nice brick 4 plex. (The rent is enough to make a house payment) I have a very nice couple in their fifties who live next door to me. Right now the other two houses are occupied by the pipe line workers. There are 2 workers living in each house. They go home on the weekends and take their laundry with them for their family to do.
One couple is from Champaign which is very close to my old home which is about 100 or so miles from here. The other couple are from out of state so I occasionally do see one of them around on the weekend. They are very quiet and I imagine that they are dead tired after working on putting in pipe line all day. Actually to me they are preferable to the occupants who lived there before them. Since I have lived here for the past 3 & 1/2 years I have seen half a dozen different families in these houses. They don’t last long because the rent is too high and they look around for somewhere else to live. Me, I don’t have the energy or the want to, to make another move.
And who in the world said you had to leave an inheritance for your kids?
I have been in the kitchen doing some cleaning this morning. It all looks pretty good now.
I also have been back working on cleaning out my CDs again. I had well over a thousand to begin with. I have an eclectic taste ranging from Rod Stewart to Blue Grass to my favorites which are George Jones and Willy Nelson. I have sent CDs to some of my blogging friends. Right now I have a sack full of Christmas CDs ready for Goodwill and a huge sack getting ready to send to my niece in WV.

HI..I imagine the places these workers rent are just kind of a sleeping place if they leave on the weekends. There are a lot of enbridge people doing that in a nearby town. The rent the places completely furnished and BOY they are expensive you are so right about that. Hope this cool air reminds you of fall and not winter. Brrr too soon for me. Stay well..continued prayers always XOXO
ReplyDeleteYour right, no one says you have to leave anything. In some cases it's better that way. I've know a few families it would have been better if their was nothing.
ReplyDeleteI feel lucky that God willing, I shouldn't never have to move. With family all around and so close it makes for a nice secure feeling.
glad the pipeline workers are good neighbors.
ReplyDeletePipeline workers used "my" laundromat when they first came to our area - WOW! What a mess the machines were so the owner asked them to go elsewhere and they did! Willie is my very favorite and has been for many years.
ReplyDeleteMoving is stressful, so probably best to stay where you are - Hugs Nita
ReplyDeleteMy mother saves like crazy to leave us an inheritance. It makes no sense. I tell her to get it spent!
ReplyDeleteWe've moved so many times and I'm not planning on moving again. I love our new place and area.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter won't even talk to me and wouldn't want anything we left her anyway!!
1,000 CDs? Wow you sound like me. I still have a ton of cassette tapes as well! Music is wonderful. I am going to do a post on it soon.
ReplyDeleteBeth, I don't listen music like I did when I worked. I really don't care for some of today's music...especially rap... I like all genres of music...just not rap. Hope you are staying warm...it's getting cold now. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the pipeline workers are good neighbors and not using the laundry facility.
ReplyDeleteI always took my husbands cloths home with me if I could. Especially his muddy jeans! We get so mad at my hubbys mom for wanting to save her money to pass down to us. We tell her go spend every dollar on enjoying your life, we will be fine!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do love music I have less than 100 CDs! I often purge when I am organizing, as I cannot stand clutter and having more than I need, but I can relate because many years ago (about 2 decades ago) I had over 200 record albums.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have 1 of the Christmas CD's as I have NO Christmas music at all. :-(((
ReplyDeleteYour wish is my command Twin. xoxo
DeleteI love your word study, Beth! Good work sorting through your CD collection! I need to take inspiration from you to sort through some of my OWN collections.:-) xo Nellie
ReplyDelete1000 cd's! I thought I had a bunch! Your collection dwarfs mine. Our winning streak weather wise is about to end tonight. It hit 70 once more today but that's it.
ReplyDeleteWhy did you mention laundry?
Our neighbors are very close in our new neighborhood. It would be so nice to have my blog friends this close!!!!! Good neighbors are hard to find.
ReplyDeleteI need to deep clean my kitchen this week, too.
Have a restful night.
Good to know, and good to have nice neighbors!!
ReplyDeleteIt is very difficult to get a good neighbor. Pipeline workers are good neighbors for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a productive day. Take Care Beth.
ReplyDeleteYour musical tastes sound like ours. I need to sort ours out. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSpend enjoy spend enjoy that is what ever child I have ever met says I do know it is true for most. HUGS B
ReplyDeleteGreat to have good neighbors. Our streets are separate houses which we each own with a front yard and back yard with lawns plus a nature strip out the front with a footpath.
ReplyDeleteYou do have a lot of CD'S, sorting them must have been a huge job.
I have a big drawer full of cassettes--LOL! At least they're not eight-tracks.
ReplyDeleteMoving is something I don't look forward to ever again, either. Glad they are good neighbors.
They sound like the perfect neighbors to have! I don't know about children, but Scripture does teach to leave an inheritance for the grands. ; > Skedaddling...
ReplyDeleteSadly I don't have any grandchildren. I have always wanted some though.
DeleteSo many CD's wow! I have but a few now , some I couldn't get rid of ..Rod Stewart is a favourite of mine. I think his voice has matured now, and I love it.
ReplyDeleteAfter a lot of rain this week , today was a lovely sunny one..so thankful for those days.
Hugs Sheila x
One of the last years that we had the resort we had pipeline workers stay in the fall for a couple of months. I did their laundry for them, they paid and tipped well. Some were from Louisiana and could cook up a storm..made a Snapping Turtle Stew one time. Hard working guys:)
ReplyDeletethank you for visiting my blog.. I have read back on yours and those flowers from your daughter were amazing such colours! Hope you keep well and your treatments relieve your pain.
ReplyDeleteHappy Days
Chris x
Good for you Beth on getting rid of stuff. I'm slowly trying to do that too. I think you have the ideal neighbors in those workmen - It's much quieter to have them than a young family banging doors and hollering at each other.
