Monday morning again…

My weekend was quiet.  I had my niece over for lunch on Saturday, nothing fancy.  Wieners wrapped in Crescent rolls, baked beans and scalloped potatoes.  Not too bad.

It is a dreary 43 degrees this morning and the weather all week is to be very chilly with a hard freeze this week.  I have no plants outside so nothing to worry about there.

I will be feeding my neighbor’s cat starting on the 30th for a week.  They are visiting their daughters in Texas.

I have laundry going again.  It is kind of nice to have the laundry room to myself.  Two of the buildings in my group are occupied by pipeline workers.    http://www.pjstar.com/news/x208441314/Pekin-hopes-pipeline-construction-will-be-economic-boon

The pipeline project here in Tazwell county has brought 600 workers to the area.  Anyway, the guys working on the pipeline don’t use the laundry facility.

I need to check on my laundry and then run some errands.  I got my fruit cakes made and need to buy a bottle of rum.  I used up the last little bit of rum from a bottle that I purchased before I moved here.

I hope you all have a great day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Note for Paul.  May the best team win!!

Beth

  3. You have often mentioned baked beans eaten with other foods...not sure how your baked beans are done.
We down this end of the world have baked beans in a tin, done in tomato sauce and usually eaten hot on buttered toast.
Good you have your Christmas Cake made and I can see you don't drink the rum :)

    1. Our baked beans come in a can too. I add brown sugar, spicy mustard and bacon to mine, bake and they are served as a side dish. I love them, that is why I have baked beans so often.

  5. Beth, So the Cardinals and the Red Sox will be in the series, right? I used to work with a man named Carl. He always wore blue Dickie work clothes. They are dark blue, somewhat like a uniform. Well once when the Sox's won the series, Carl wore a RedSox's t-shirt to work...someone told him he looked different and asked him if he got a haircut.LOL. The differenece was his RedSox's shirt.:):) They are both good teams. It would be nice to know what old Carl is doing now. Take care Beth and enjoy everyday.xoxo,Susie

  6. Sounds yummy---the beans. Glad you had a good weekend. I was sad to see my Tigers lose, but am relieved (in a way) not to have the tension of watching them in the Series this year! HA! I've been collecting stuff for folks all year and need to dig out those gems (if I can remember where I put them all!) for the holidays. Stay in and stay warm!

  10. Sometimes getting back to a good schedule is a very good thing. This week should be that very thing for me. It's actually warmed up a lot here much to my surprise. I don't mind it being quiet for a change.

  12. How nice that your niece was able to join you for lunch! It sounds like a very tasty menu!

I'm eagerly awaiting the beginning of the World Series on Wednesday night!

We had some scattered frost this morning, though it had not been predicted. It was not too heavy, and was quickly a thing of the past.

I've wanted to bake fruit cakes again (baked them a number of years ago), but haven't looked up the recipe to make the grocery list. Yours sound delicious!

That's funny about the pipeline workers.:-) No, I don't suppose they are too interested in doing laundry.:-)

  15. Oh - wieners wrapped in crescent rolls - I haven't had that in years. Must make that again one of these days. Enjoy your empty laundry room. I'll bet they are quiet neighbors too - too exhausted by the end of the day to make a lot of noise - hopefully!
