in central Illinois this afternoon at 20 degrees right now. Snow and ice predicted for the lower half of the state this evening. If all holds true here we should get nothing but snow flurries. Crossing my fingers for that!
Thanks to all of you for all of the tips. I have run the malware and virus scans until I am blue in the face and they say all clear. I finally deleted the Google Chrome browser and am accessing my blog and gmail through other browsers. I hope that does the trick.
I made 2 kinds of cookies yesterday towards my Christmas baking. Cherry date cookies and oatmeal cookies with dried cherries, chocolate chips and dried pineapple. They are in my winter freezer which is the trunk of my car. Recipes are on my recipe blog. I think I will try my hand at divinity this year. It has been many years since I have made any since it really is a 2 person job. I haven’t decided what I will make for the cookie exchange this year. Liz, if you are reading this, I am really looking forward to that again!!
I finished the antibiotic but I still have remnants of the bug hanging on.
I am on my way now to get caught up on reading your posts.
Beth
the cookies sound good - and chewy! :) stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI hope the ice avoids you as predicted. And you can feel free to send some cookies my way!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour cookies sound so good. Divinity...that is sooo good. All I know is that it should not be made on a bad weather day, which means that I won't be attempting it any time soon. I have a nice refrigerator in the car; however, it's not cold enough to freeze.
ReplyDeleteSay, any news on the window?
I still don't have my window replaced. It is so dark in my kitchen even with all of the lights on.
DeleteDear Twin, I HOPE you escape that ice. We may get some Monday morning. Wouldn't you know E. has to get to the surgeon's office!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, It seems we have the sickness bugs and the wild weather both sides of the pond. It is very windy here and the north of the country are suffering all kinds of things. Many adults and kids unlike are unwell also. Hope you get that window replaced soon. Hugs Nita
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to have a winter freezer in the trunk of my car, but it's sunny and about 70 today. I don't want to give up the warmth.
ReplyDeleteYou are ambitious with your Christmas baking! I cooked like I was possessed before Thanksgiving, and now I just cannot find the motivation to begin the cooking for Christmas!:-)
ReplyDeleteI do hope the ice misses you!
xo Nellie
I've used the trunk for a freezer a few times - also the back patio as long as it isn't for more than a couple of hours - don't want an animal getting into things. So happy your computer is up and working again.
ReplyDeleteI have a new post:

Beth, You made me laugh about your freezer. I am with you on praying that the ice and heavy snows miss us. I have already had a bout of the blues today. I feel a bit ikky in my tummy too. I wish I knew what everyone knows about computers. Glad you have yours running now. Take care Beth, I'll be thinking of you. xoxoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteIt was very warm here today but the cold is on the way.
ReplyDeleteI've done cookie exchanges in the past buy have moved away so won't going this year. They are a lot of fun. I'll have to see about getting one started at my new church. If not this year maybe next.
hehe, great idea for a winter freezer!! My mom always freezes cookies, I never do. I make them all in the week before Christmas and try to deliver them to friends as I bake them!! I make my butter cookies first as they seem to stay fresh and delicious longer!!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes make some of my doughs ahead of time and freeze that. I always worry about the freshness factor!!
You need to get better, sending you warm wishes from the jersey shore!!
Warmth in the 20s...I envy you...the next two days have highs below zero for us. I pray you quickly feel 100% Beth...I'll remember you in prayer.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your computer problems! That can be so frustrating! I need to start my cookie baking this weekend. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI have never had divinity! Save some for me! Cookies are all baked - mostly eaten here. Now for fruitcake. Trunk freezers are great. Truck bed freezers also work well. Ah! Winter!
ReplyDeleteReally chilly in Missouri, too! Stay warm and get to feeling better!
ReplyDeleteIt's cold up here in Northeastern Illinois, too, Beth. 25 right now and then down to the teens next week. Do you freeze the cookies or the dough? I was told it's best to freeze dough and make the cookies a few days before. But you have the experience. Love your festive banner! :)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Beth- I am sorry you are having so many problems with your computer! It is cold here, too, right around zero with the wind chill factored in. Hope you are feeling completely well soon- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your computer problem. Nice to hear about your preparation of cookies for the festival. Take care of your health from the chill climate.
ReplyDeleteI actually had my computer crash after bringing my blog back to life the last time. I was hesitant at resurrecting it today, but miss everyone so much I am taking the risk.
ReplyDeleteI was not able to order some merchandise lately and couldn't print out tickets for my daughter....and couldn't take a quick class for work...and found out the reason was Chrome....and then the Google toolbar.....took both off my computer and guess what! I was able to do all three! I don't know if my computer crashing was because of my blog or not, but this makes me suspicious of all things Google! Let's cross our fingers that we stay alive and without viruses in Blogland!
Cheer up! Christmas is round the corner Beth :)
ReplyDeleteThose cookies sound so good. I smiled at the image of you putting then in your "freezer". HOPE you have a great weekend...stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteFeel better Beth. Hug B
ReplyDeleteI need to do some baking, too. I am glad you are better. Stay safe and warm. Winter is really getting a grip on us now. Bill still goes through your area, back and forth. He has skirted some storms already, rain and ice, some snow. Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteI think cookies in a warm oven would be a great thing on these cold days.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will feel totally well now soon. :)
I just did read this!!! I just made bunches of cookies for the party...you should have gotten your invitation Friday or Saturday...I mailed you your own this year! So looking forward to seeing you and Marcia.
