Snickerdoodles and the giveaway…

I am making Snickerdoodles today and Chex Mix.  Tomorrow I will make the date Rice Krispie Cookies for the cookie exchange Wednesday night.  I need to have 8 packages with 6 in a package.  I will get to choose 8 different packages to bring home with me.
I use the recipe on the back of the Chex cereals for the Chex mix.
Snickerdoodles

•1 & 1/2 cups sugar
•1 cup margarine or butter softened
•2 eggs
•2 & 3/4 cups flour
•2 teaspoons cream of tartar
•1 teaspoon baking soda
•1/4 teaspoon salt
•1/4 cup sugar plus 2 teaspoons cinnamon mixed together

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2.In a large bowl cream together with mixer, 1 1/2 cups sugar, the butter and eggs.
3.Stir together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
4.Add to creamed mixture.
5.Roll in balls.
6.Dip in the sugar cinnamon mixture.
7.Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
8.Bake 8 – 10 minutes until set. Will be pale brown. Don’t overcook.

Remove from cookie sheet and let cool. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.

I know that you all are wondering why I make so much stuff.  I love to give.  Last year I took a goodie tray to all of my neighbors in my 4plex plus the neighbors across the driveway in the 4plex.  Then money and goodies for my mail carrier and the newspaper carrier.  I love to do this as it makes me happy!

If you haven’t entered my giveaway yet you have through Friday of this week to enter.  Each time you leave a comment you will get another entry.  You must be a follower of my blog to enter.  Guys, you can enter too for your significant other.

Have a wonderful week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  5. Good Morning Beth, A quick post this foggy morning. I love snicker doodles, they were one of the cookies that the kids use to love to help make when they were little. I would love to win your give away. Well I need to get out the door to go to my one day a week job. I am helping one who has MS with her office work. Have a great day. 6. Last year I made shortbread cookies and gave away. Of course everyone loved them as well as my nighbours I gave.

This year I am unable to stand on my feet that many hours and all the neighbours make what you make for their Grandkids.

Nice smiles from you. to your neighbours receiving. Very thoughtful..

  8. I like getting goodies, last night our neighbor brought us two plates of them.
One with candies she made, and another with rum cake for just Senior and I. Smelled so darn good...

Enjoy your baking and cookie exchance. I like to do "gifts in a jar" for people.

  9. You get so many comments because people love you Beth! Me included. Your kindness and diplomacy shows through time and time again. Don't forget to enter me in the contest again! I won't write what I initially was going to write. In the interest of good taste I won't say what image and idea came to mind when first reading the word "snikerdoodle" .

  10. Beth, My daughter Lizzy could make snickerdoodles in her sleep. She's made them for years . Chex mix and snickerdoodles are two of my girls' favorite snacks. Hope you are saty safe and warm at home. We went to the dentist and the car shop already and are home for the day. So glad. xoxo,Susie

  16. Good for you Beth. My mouth is watering. When I was diagnosed with PD and felt so rotten, I have my stand mixer to my daughter. Actually, my back won't allow me to stand there and deal with cookies anyway. But it was fun to share what I made. ha ha - now others share with me and it's so appreciated.

  17. I used to make Snickerdoodles for my family when the children were growing up. Now my husband doesn't want sugar. But sometimes he does break over and beg for cookies. Giving gifts like that is a nice thing to do. I don't do much cooking anymore, because it's no fun without someone who likes it. But we do give gifts of money to people who take care of us all year like the mailman and the milkman. Enjoy your Christmas, Beth. Bertie.

  21. I look forward to baking cookies for my nice neighbors, who have a new baby. I don't make Chex party mix anymore because I can't stop eating it. It's so nice of you to bake for neighbors and think of so many people. You have a kind spirit.

    Love,
    Janie
