and I will not be sorry to see you go. But the good news is that it is only 48 days on the countdown till Spring. We are under winter storm warnings for the next few days for mega amounts of snow.
I did it. I marched into the rental office yesterday and told them I wanted my window NOW!! ‘Oh well, Beth, we are waiting for insurance to approve it’ to which I replied “I know that isn’t true as Tom told me before Thanksgiving that it would be 10 – 12 days.” Well, she said, ‘I will just call Tom,’ which she did. Tom said he had nothing to do with the window call Dennis. Dennis said that Pekin Glass was supposed to have come and put that window in for me. Somehow all of this passing the buck http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_passing reminded me of my package and the many hundred miles it traveled to reach me. Anyway, I received a call late yesterday afternoon telling me that someone would be here sometime today to put my window in. We shall see. I am not holding my breath, especially with the weather forecast.
But, it is Friday and it is inching ever closer to Spring. The days are getting longer and I have hope in my heart for all things good. I have plenty of food and books and as long as the heat and electricity stay on I am good to face the rest of winter. I do have a doctor appointment to fit in next week and some lab work to be done and I am hoping the weather will cooperate. Winter comes, but spring is close behind. (a phrase from an old George Jones song)
Have a good weekend. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
Maybe if not today, very soon you will get your window.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have everything you need in case the weather is severe.
Keep us posted on the window!
Good for you! Stand your ground ! Sounds like they put you in a position to be rather demanding since they were not proactive to ensure you were taken care of! Way to go Miss Beth!
ReplyDeleteI hope that pretty soon your window will be taken care of.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday and happy last day of January. It is 22 Degrees F. here and it feels like a warm day ahead. Stay warm.
Wonderful news..glad they are finally fixing it. Hope the sun shines so you can feel it's warmth in there. :-) prayers always. XoXo
ReplyDeleteI hope they show up to put the window in today Beth. Can't believe it's been two months. Crazy.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe the run-around you have been given about that window! Good grief! Of course insurance would have approved it long before now!! Anyway, hopefully that will be one thing that should be finished off the list today! Take care, and stay safe and warm! xo Nellie
ReplyDeletegood luck with the window!
ReplyDelete(and you're the 3rd blogger in my reading list that used this title today).
Ah ha! Sometimes the squeaky wheel does get the grease! Good for you. Very empowering and even if that window does not go in today, it was good practice for Monday when you call again. LOL
ReplyDeleteDon't you just hate getting the runaround? I would go back and/or call again and again until it is installed. "The squeakiest wheel gets the grease!" I don't blame you at all for being frustrated. Yea! February - come on in.
ReplyDeleteAfter a great war you have finished fixing your window. Take care of your health. Happy weekend!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you- I hope they do get that window in. Sometimes we all need to be more assertive. I'm not sad to see January go, and am looking forward to spring.
ReplyDeleteSure hope that window gets put in today! That is just crazy you have waited this long!! Stay warm in this crazy round of winter weather! Your spring count down sure keeps me hopeful!!
ReplyDeleteWonder if they turned up Beth, it's been a long time and you have been very patient. Spring oh I love that word , plenty rain here and more due tomorrow. Take care stay warm and have a cosie weekend Beth.
ReplyDeleteHugs Sheila x
If you don't get your window, then let me know. I have ways of making people put in windows.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I love your springy looking header....I'm sooooo ready for spring, too. It cannot get here quick enough. Have a great weekend, Ms. Beth!
ReplyDeleteBeth, It is amazing how companies want to pass the buck...it's hard to even get people to do things they have already been paid to do. Makes me crazy girl. Come on Spring !!! I know you are ready, so am I. Enjoy your weekend. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteTwin, That just really gets me, the buck passing! They ALWAYS do it. No one much wants to take responsibility, do they? I will be busting to know if the window got put in.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope you can see light sooner than later. It's been a long time that you haven't had any with that board over the window.
ReplyDeleteWell I am not counting to winter, that's for sure.
That tree is so Pretty! Keep warm!
ReplyDeleteI hate being given and run around. So sorry you are going through this, Beth, and I hope this situation resolves quickly for you. Your header is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeth, I hope you get or got some action on that window today. They've put you off long enough. It's probably a matter of it's considered a small job and they just don't want to deal with a small job - the big day-long ones are more profitable. Makes you made and it would me too. That tree is beautiful Beth - makes me think Spring will come - eventually.
ReplyDeleteHang in there - springs a commin'.. .hope you get that window fixed soon and that all your doctor appointments go well.
DeleteI hope your new window comes soon. If it's the insurance company who is dragging their feet, now we know why disaster areas take way too long to be cleaned up and fixed up. New Orleans for example. Come on Spring!!
ReplyDeleteI am waiting to see if you get your new window! I hope you do soon! You have certainly been patient waiting for it-if they can approve rehabbing the whole building next to you they can certainly get a window approved! xo Diana

ReplyDeleteGood for you! I hope they follow through now!! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you got your window! I am also enjoying the longer days and the bits of sunshine that we have had this past week. What a difference it makes in our moods! Glad you are making it through this tough winter with your spirits high.
ReplyDeleteWhat has happened to our Fighting Illini? Maybe today will be better!
We are continuing with our seesaw weather, Very mild for today (Sat.) and tomorrow (40's-50's) with the threat of a snowstorm in the middle of the week.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love the passing of the buck? Hope your window situation gets rectified as quick as possible, Now it's off to work as I have another late shift.
You need that window. They are being mean and negligent. Pursue it. Hug.
ReplyDeleteSome people are just so good at passing the buck and it is so bloody annoying when it happens, you feel like someone take responsibility and fix the damn problem.
