Random acts of kindness…

and the countdown till Spring is passing slowly.  Today marks 60 days until Spring.  It is 18 degrees and the wind chill is 4 degrees.  The wind is gusting to 30 miles per hour.  In a couple of hours I am going to bundle up and go out and clean the snow off my car for the umpteenth time this winter.

I have the Peoria Journal Star delivered daily.  Each day they have a feature called Random acts of kindness.  I will confess that these articles often have me sniffling a  bit as do some of the ads on TV.  During the Christmas season when local TV was showing greetings from our military personnel overseas I sniffled a lot.  http://www.pjstar.com/lifestyle/random-acts-of-kindness

Anyway I have been in the house since Thursday and I am beginning to need to get out and go somewhere,

I don’t know yet what I am cooking today.  I have so many leftovers crammed in the freezer along with the TV dinners I bought to stock up before the last snow storm.  I need to eat some of the leftovers.

I have never really learned to cook for one person, another thing that I need to put on my bucket list.  My bucket list is so long…  I remember that movie came out shortly after I lost my husband.  I purchased the DVD and my neighbors next door came over to watch the movie with me.  I never did watch it all of the way through.

Have a Blessed Sunday!!  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. i love when the media focuses on uplifting stories - like nbc nightly news does their 'making a difference' segments at the end of each broadcast. :)

  2. Yay 60 days ...I surely hope it at least will warm up some. So tired of the cold. I am aboutready to take another virtual trip...so sick of winter. Stocked up yesterday so need not go out this week. The movie is good I was surprised at the end.

watch the bucket list, it is a great movie!! have you ever watched the notebook?? best love story ever made but you will need an entire box of tissues. my mother in law hated it, looked only at the negative aspect of the movie. i never saw it that way.......just as a LOVE STORY!!!

  4. Gosh, the days slip by quickly. The last time I was aware was when you said 67 days until spring. As I recall, that movie has a twist at the end. I can see why it might not have been a happy one at the time.

It's still snowing here. Thankfully, the car is in the garage so there's no cleaning to be done. We do have a birthday party to attend.

Have a good afternoon...leftovers always taste so good...hope you find one to enjoy.

  5. I have difficulty watching a lot of shows/movies, even commercials. I imagine you are stir crazy with the severe weather you are having. Hope you find something good to eat. Are you watching football this afternoon?

  8. Beth, I love your countdown to spring. I'm with you, it can't come soon enough. I don't get over here exactly every day, but when I do, I know I can be cheered up by your blog and by knowing we're another day closer. Those Random Acts of Kindness can be real tear jerkers - but beautiful. I have a new blog post today.

  9. Hi Beth, I just wrote a comment (rather long too) and Blogger ate it. Maybe Blogger would appreciate something to eat. Anyway, I love your countdown to spring. I don't get over here every day, but when I do come, I see we are getting closer. It's hard cooking for one. In fact, almost impossible without having left overs. Oh, I have a new blog post today too.

We have lots of leftovers for the freezer with the two of us too. I always cook way too much.

  12. The local paper always features a positive story on the front page. It's nice to get that little boost.

Not teary person when watching a movie, not even with The Notebook, movie or book..just about 1 tear from memory, and I must look up that movie, it might make a few more tears :)

  15. Once in a while, not often enough, the media publishes a nice story. It's a nice diversion from all of the negative reporting. 60 days? Yea!

  18. I didn't think that movie was very good. I learned to cook for one and then I met Willy Dunne Wooters.

    Love,
