The rain keeps coming down….

and the street in front of my house is flooded.  The weather radio which goes off loud enough to wake the dead went off sometime around 2AM.  When I heard it was only for severe thunderstorms I got up, went to the bathroom, and then went back to bed and fell asleep.  If I had heard the word tornado I would have been out of bed in a flash and moved into the hallway.  I have a very healthy fear of tornados now and I always will.

One of the blogs I visited this morning (thanks Chris) asked if we would ever like to go back in time.  Yes, I would, not for a long time, just long enough to enjoy my kids being young again.  I have even picked the perfect ages for my kids,  My daughter would be 6 and my son would be 3.  It was a period in my life when I had a little break from working full time and I think you might have referred to me as a happy homemaker.

This going back in time stuff made me think of my very favorite movie, Peggy Sue Got Married.  I have the DVD and I have watched the movie at least a dozen or more times.

I love the music in this and I remember my high school years as I am watching it.    Awesome movie.

I hope the sun is shining wherever you are and the rain stops long enough for me to get out and do something .  I do have to go to the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions.

You all stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Beth, It started raining in the night and is still going. Suppose to break around noon , then start again later. The yard has much water standing in it. The sump pump is running also. I hope we do not have the floods. Our weather radio wakes me but never Ted. Hope it stops raining sooner than predicted. Plenty of lightening also.
I would go back into time also...if I could have my children small again and see my parents.Take care. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  4. We had some rain but it's stopped for awhile. Suppose to be back later and tomorrow. Sure don't need any flooding. Once in my lifetime was more than enough.

  5. Have never seen that movie and now I want to! I am so highly suggestible. A rainy day without the drama of whacky weather can be pleasant. Too bad you have to go out in it, though.

  6. It's 31 here and finally I can see the sun...how wonderful that is. Snow pack here is 140% in some places...spring rain with that is a terrifying prospect. Here though we had a tornado a few years ago that destroyed our fairgrounds is still not common enough to warrant much fear in the community. We used to live in Tulsa, OK...we know better.

  7. Once again, I wish I could send a pocket full of sunshine like Natasha B. says in her song. So sorry.
I know - - - - - - my phone has that fog horn kind of loud weather alert sound too. It is kind of frightening and alarming at the same time.

  8. For me..I would love time to go when all the boys were teeny tiny. Like the oldest being 4, the middle boy being 3 and me expecting the third one. Those were precious days,

  10. We will have rain - heavy rain soon. All of that extra water can cause so much damage when you live on the downside of a hill. PLEASE may we never have to hear a loud warning of any sort. We don't have a weather clock anyway, but just the thought of being blasted is scary. I cannot even stand a simple clock alarm because I sleep so deeply. I guess it is important for your area.

  11. I don't think I would like to go back because then I'd have to live through some really bad times all over again. I like the time I'm living right now. : )

  13. I hope you are in no danger from the flooding, Beth! We could use rain here as we are behind our average rainfall for the year. xo Nellie

  14. Wow, the noise sounds very loud if it would wake the dead! Wonder would it wake me...the phone next to my bed rang this morning for ages before I answered it, so I was told. Seems everyone was waiting for me to answer and I did but was still asleep kind of.
Rain, how so many places in this world need rain, we are one.

The movie looks interesting and I must see if I can get it.

  16. Raining here like crazy too...everything is saturated and soggy. The chickens look bedraggled because they won't stay out of the rain. lol It's grey and gloomy and I had a lovely 1 hour nap because of it.

  18. Glad you are getting rain instead of snow like we are. I hope the flooding doesn't get too bad though. Monday there was a blizzard warning north of here where my daughter lives. In the midst of that there was a tornado. Weird weather.

  19. I saw that movie as a youngster and really liked it. I would love to go back in time someday. To 1990 when the Reds won the World Series :)

  21. Oh dear Beth I hope the rain stops soon and you're not going to have a session like many have had in UK this winter.
The idea of going back in time fascinates me, I really wouldn't know where or when to stop off, but a bit like you, when my girls were little and before grown up problems made life a bit more unpleasant shall we say. Stay dry Arlene Ruby and Zak XX

  23. We had storms all night long and my dog, Dottie was not happy. She was pacing and shaking all night long. I imagine many families had the same fears. I'd sure like some warm sunny weather now!
