Update….

I have finished 10 of the 30 radiation treatments.  The radiation is directed to my neck and head so they are pretty tough.  The worst side effects are to my mouth.  It is raw inside.  I have been given a compound prescription that is helping a bit, numbing my mouth  and throat so that it is easier for me to swallow meds.  Eating is difficult but I have resisted having a feeding tube inserted.  So far I haven’t lost a disastrous amount of weight.  Sadly I don’t have any extra weight to fall back on.

The radiation frizzes (burns) my hair so I look like the bride of Frankenstein. I can live with these side effects if it kills the cancer.  I will not choose to go through treatment a 3rd time though.

I think about all of you often.  I just don’t have the energy to visit you all.  Most of my time is spent just getting through  each day.  I have the good Lord to thank for helping me to do that.

Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. I have to get on here more often than I have been so that your prayer needs can be brought to mind. You are a strong woman. I pray that this will be painless as possible, that the medication will work and that you can go through this and will not have to go through it again because you will be cancer-free. I speak life into you. May the Lord bless and keep you, may he may his face shine upon may He go before you and give you peace.

  3. I haven't stopped thinking about you, dear Beth. I am very sorry you need to endure all that discomfort, but if it rids you of disease it will be well worth it. It is completely understandable that your attention must remain focused on getting well and that you can't spread yourself too thin visiting blogs at this time. I will continue to pray for a very happy outcome for you, dear friend.

  4. Well I have definitely been thinking and praying for you. My heart is with you. I wish there was more to do for you. I think you are incredibly brave. Yes your hair is one thing - but the not being able to swallow and eat much must be tough. Maybe having a feeding tube my give you the strength you need to get through it - just thinking.... Hugs and love, sandie

  10. God bless you, Beth. I have thought about you so many times over the past few weeks but not wanted to intrude---knowing that you are fighting and probably tired all the time.

I am so sorry you are having to deal with all of this. My prayer is that it works for you and you are, once again, cancer free. It will all be worth it in the long run, Beth. Just think you are ONE THIRD of the way through this whole mess. You can do this!!! I know you can!!!

If it's alright I am going to put up another prayer request for you on Sunday. I also have another blogging friend that is fighting cancer and she has asked for a prayer request, too. If that is NOT alright-please let me know.

Much love and healing hugs to you- Diana

  27. It's good to read a post from you, as I as others were wondering how you were coping with your treatment. Sorry to read your mouth etc. is raw, it's harsh treatment on sensitive areas. Good to know that you haven't lost much weight, and let's hope you don't, but if you do, when recovered you will soon put it back on, I am sure :) Your hair, oh dear me, but it will also grow again after treatment :) God Bless You, Beth. I do think of you and pray for you often. Take care, all the best, keep strong....
