Finally Friday, again..

and man does it come around fast.  I see my life just flying by and I haven’t even begun to do the things I want to in this life, so I guess I better get busy.  Winking smile  But not today, ‘cause I have already been busy.  We had a new food store open this morning.  It used to be the county market and now it is called Food Depot.  Amazing buys this morning, large can mandarin oranges @ 49 cents, Campbell’s chicken noodle or tomato soup @ 3 for $1, etc.  But my best buy was a 6 lb hen that I have in the oven right now for 65 cents a lb.  I am foregoing eating out with the kids tonight and I am fixing stuffing and potatoes and gravy to go with that.  OOPS, I forgot the large can of Grand’s biscuits for 72 cents.
Then I headed out to Bergners.  I was informed that they opened at 9 today, but lo and behold, when I got there I saw that they didn’t open till 10.  This did ruffle my feathers a bit because I had called them yesterday and I was told they were opening at 9.  There were a couple of things on sale that I really wanted.  I guess I will have to go back this afternoon or in the morning.  Not life threatening, just something I thought I wanted.
It got downright chilly last night at 35 degrees,  I had a lot of frost to scrape this morning and I am not liking that too much.  I am getting used to it though.  One thing for sure, I don’t need a new car to sit out in the weather all night.
Wow, this has turned into a rant and I didn’t mean for it to be.  As I have said before, I really am quite content with this move.
I hope you all have a very special weekend.  Be nice and smile a lot today.  Stay safe and be happy!!
Red heart  Beth

  2. 34 when I took Frankie to work this morning at 5:30 this morning and a freeze warning posted for overnight tonight. That answers one of the things I've been pondering recently, mow the lawn one more time or winterize the mowers. I guess our grass will remain a little high until the spring thaw:)

  6. Hoping your new store continues to have good specials. Your supper tonight sounds really good. Nothing like home cooking! I may just copy your dinner and make that tomorrow night. Jim loves chicken in any shape or form. Have a good one and good luck getting your stuff at Bergners.

Though my car has been a model citizen I am planning to buy a new one next year. It will only be the second brand new car I have ever purchased.

  10. Now that's the kind of store I like. Oh, that supper sounded so good. It really does seem like time is just flying, and at my age I would like it slow down a bit.

  13. Hi Beth, just cruising by, trying to catch up with folk. A new store always prompts a flurry of excitement, till they peg their prices just as high as everyone else, or am I a glass half full person? We've got a Lidl opening near me next month, they're a pile them high, sell them cheap store, with no frills, so it will be worth a visit, take care.

  18. Sounds like some really good deals for you. Is County Market to become a thing of the past, or just in your town? County Market was one of my stops when shopping in Champaign...nearly always found bargains. Was 35 here this (Sat) morning...had a fire in the wood stove.

  19. Hi Beth, I've finished posting the info on how to stop following other blogs. I hope I made it easy to understand since a lot of people have had a hard time figuring this one out too.
I hope you have a nice Sunday :)
