Cloudy dreary Monday…

with rain on the way to change to snow flurries tonight.  Flurries I can handle, freezing rain and inches of snow NO!

Sticking to my promise that I was through Christmas shopping I took a huge bag of clothing, shoes and books to Good Will.  I ventured no further even though Good Will is situated right in the heart of the shopping area.  I have to call a halt sometime.  I have spent way more this year than I planned.  I am helping our economy to recover; that is what I have been telling myself.  Winking smile  One good thing in my favor is I pay cash when I shop so no big credit card bill after the 1st of the year.

I am getting ready to start my candy making.  The first thing I am making is White Marshmallow Candy.  This candy is luscious.

White Marshmallow Candy

by Beth Marie in Candy

Marcia gave me this recipe a long time ago.

  • 2 lbs white bark  (I never have white bark so I use Nestle’s white chocolate chips)
  • 1 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • 2 cups dry roasted peanuts
  • 3 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 2 cups miniature marshmallows (the colored ones make this candy look festive)

Melt bark and peanut butter together in microwave in a large bowl.  Stir every minute until melted. Add nuts and cereal to the melted mixture.  Stir in marshmallows.  Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper and let cool.  Freezes well so you can make this way ahead.

My sister has asked that we all say a prayer for an 11 year old boy in WV who is in a wheelchair.  He is being hospitalized today with critical liver problems.  I am not at liberty to divulge his name because of confidentiality.

“Our Father in heaven, please be with this child today.  Hold his hand, be with his family, and keep them all in Your care.  Please heal his body if it be thy will.  In Jesus name I pray, and for His sake.”  Amen.  Thank you.

Red heart  Beth

  4. I will do the same for that little boy, Beth. I promise.

That candy recipe looks so luscious I will have to make it for Christmas. There go our diets!

When the new windows were put in last March, they took up some of the space that the cat used to lay in the sills. I was hoping to make that up to her..and my plants could use the sills when she wasn't. Too prohibitive on cost though John Bord came up with a great idea..I don't have that kind of money..darn.

  5. What are you talking about, Carole? My diet flew out of the window over a year ago! Bring on the candy!
Beth, I'm with you all the way on the ice. NO ICE. But flurries are beautiful, aren't they :)
I will definitely add my prayers to everyone else's for this child. I love big prayer requests because I completely believe in the bigger the group praying, the faster and more intensely heard the prayer becomes.
Darn, wish I had a hunk of that candy right now.
    XOXOXO

  7. It turned into a very dreary day here today, but still glad there's been no snow in Madison. Up north...well, that's a different story.

Your candy recipe sounds really good, but all of your recipes are that way. :)

  12. The candy sounds GREAT. May give it a try this year, just for something new. It seems like I make the same ones every year---although there are no complaints! It's always nice to throw in a new recipe! Thanks!!!

  14. Good luck to the little lad, I hope all goes well with him.
The weather here is milder than most of the rest of the country, the snow made an effort to pretty the place up, but it wasn't cold enough and it just disappeared, thankfully.
That recipe sounds very much a 'eat it to-day, wear it to-morrow' sort of goodie, I'll pass, I'm still trying to get rid of the surplus pounds from my holiday trip. Take care, keep warm and keep your money in your pocket.

  16. Did someone mention homemade candy. Sounds quite yummy. If you need room, you can always store it in my fridge. Ha! I won't be doing much baking this year, Maybe next year. We are putting our house on the Market on Jan.15th and hope to be moving sometime this spring, Lord willing.
I come in agreement with your prayer for this sick little boy, in Jesus Name.

Thankyou for stopping by Beth. I appreciate your comments. I see you have your blog all decorated for Christmas. Looks great Beth.
It has been raining here all day, and more rain and possibly snow flurries tomorrow. Everything looks pretty green here still.
I am about half done my Christmas shopping which is good for me. Lots to do in my spare time. Ha!
Well you take and have a good night, Beth
    Dianne :)

  17. Adding the young man to the prayers for sure. Diet is a 4-letter word, lol. I don't do candy as it just seems to go to waste around here (with the exception of Hershey's Kisses).
