Yes, I did…

I started my Christmas shopping yesterday.  My daughter and I went to Kohls in East Peoria where I managed to spend a big chunk.  That did include a new winter coat for me and several Christmas presents.  Then afterwards we ate at the China Buffet.  It was not bad as there was a lot of American food there.  I don’t like Chinese food as it seems to me that there is cabbage in everything.  Lots of different desserts too.  You should remember as I am telling you about these places we eat at that I only eat one plateful of food.  Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to waddle.  Winking smile  Plus I workout every day and that helps too.

A friend of my daughter got tickets for us and we are going to see Don Williams Sunday night at the Peoria Civic Center.  Most of you have probably never heard of him.  He is a classic country artist who ranks right there with George Jones and Johnny Cash.  Williams is best known for his # 1 hit You’re My Best Friend.  I love that song.

“You placed gold on my finger
You brought love like I've never known
You gave life to our children
And to me, a reason to go on.

You're my bread when I'm hungry
You're my shelter from troubled winds
You're my anchor in life's ocean
But most of all, you're my best friend.

When I need hope and inspiration
You're always strong when I'm tired and weak.
I could search this whole world over
You'd still be everything that I need.”

I am doing laundry this morning.  I have one load finished and one in the dryer.  I am planning to go to visit my sister’s grave today and put some flowers in her vase.  Her birthday is November 5.  Then I have to go by the pharmacy and pick up some prescriptions so it will be a busy morning.

Stay safe and be happy.

Red heart  Beth

  1. Hi Beth well done on the Christmas shopping somtimes its hard to get motivated. I have bought some cards though. A new coat mmm how lovely what a must for winter. I love Johnny Cash's music with his sultry voice. Enjoy the show sounds exciting Hugs Sheilax

  2. Great lyrics! Haven't heard the song before. Sounds like a good show, though. Enjoy! Can't get in the Christmas spending mode yet---'course I don't have much to spend this year...that may have something to do with it! But we'll make it through!

  3. Yer way ahead of me girl! Have fun fun an stay on the sunnyside.

  4. I like Chinese food too except for the msg. This a good song. I lost my best friend in 1993 and he was unforgetable.

  5. @ for Great Granny, I lost my best friend on Dec 1, 2006 and I will never forget him.

  6. Hi Beth,
You are certainly a busy lady these days. Think your change of location was a good move. Christmas Shopping, hmm must get myself motivated and round to it.
    Hugs Nita

  7. I always liked Don Williams music. Hope you have a great time seeing one of your old favorites again. Chinese buffet sounds yummy!

  8. Mmmm, Don Williams is terrific. I have LOTS of albums by him, lol.
Christmas shopping. I've started, too. In fact I started a week ago, but just for little things. I do this thing for my neighbors up and down the street each Christmas. I make up little Chritmas bags with goodies, and little gifts packed to the brim and then attach cards telling each of them how much and why I appreciate them. It's so much fun and I love doing it. I have everything but the bags and need to get those and wow, I'm glad you reminded me, lol.
Sure is good reading you again, Beth. Always a treat :D xoxoxo

  9. Hey my sisters bithday is the 4th! Almost an amazing coincidence! OK not so amazing. Buying pesents for my sisters (the other is Dec. 12) is always traumatic for me. My presents stink but I try real hard.
I don't know who Don Williams is but I do like Johnny Cash.
    Oooo you said Christmas!!!

  10. haven't heard of Don Williams, but I enjoyed reading the lyrics of the song. have fun at his concert! good for you getting a jumpstart on your Christmas shopping! Kohls can be so wonderful if they are having good sales to get lots of bargains!!

  11. I loved to watching where you having a good time thses day after visit to the doctor (a good news)
It always nice feeling Beth, just watching that you are enjoyed everyday:-)
    Big Hugs,

  12. HI Beth,
well done with the start of it all.. I've got to the first step....thinking about it...Second one will be when I finally make a decision!!
I always 'home in' on your mention of food...Does that make me a foodaholic?.. I hope not!! mmmm.

  13. So you are saying at present you CAN waddle? And do you do so?

I have heard a load of reasons people don't like - or eat - Chinese food, but I have to admit that cabbage is a new one on me. I thought that was possibly the only food that no one dislike especially - or even thought about, really.

It seems that in the vague cobwebs of memory I have a ghostly recollection of someone named Don Williams that I liked. Who sang "Oh Lonesome Me"? Someone with a name like that. Oh, was it Don Gibson? I like George Jones, but I am not otherwise much into country - OK, Emmylou, but she is SO much more than country...

  14. Yep, I've heard of Don Williams. I wasn't much on country music when I was younger but Mom sure was.

  15. Hi Beth, I haven't heard that song in years, but, it is a good song. Hope you enjoy the concert, and have a good weekend.
    Hugs, Dianne :)
