Did you ever…

wonder why you can be yawning like crazy and your eyes won’t stay open?  Then you take yourself off to bed at your regular bedtime only to toss and turn for hours.  You suddenly have half a dozen arms and legs and they are all going in different directions.  This is happening to me a lot lately.  Once I get in bed my mind replays all of the worries in my little world then goes on to replay all of the worries in my big world.  Anyway, after a very restless night I am not feeling or looking great.  Needless to say I am having a bad hair day too.

The turkey loaf turned out to actually be very good.  At the last minute I added a teaspoon of dried onion flakes.  I am not a turkey fan.  Even at Thanksgiving I bypass the turkey and eat the stuffing and the other good stuff.  I am trying to eat healthier but my poor old body rejects that idea.  Sarcastic smile  As for Mrs. Dash Mrs Dash in answer to a question from Nita, it is a blend of herbs and spices that is salt free.  I have used it for many years.

It is sunny and 23 degrees with the temp to reach the lower 40s today.  I can handle that as by Sunday it is to be in the 60s again.  My plan for today is to clean the bathroom thoroughly.  That seems a pretty good idea as I kind of feel like k*** right now.  Winking smile

I hope you all have a great week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Red heart  Beth

  3. Hi Beth. Yes indeed I am alive and well. I am finally off from work. I know I haven't been around. I have so much to do and I don't feel like doing anything. I eat healthy most of the time. I have found that if you let yourself stray once a week it's not so bad. The older I get the more conscious I have to be as to what I am eating. It's just a fact of life. Though I am in good health I have been eating much healthier the last four years and it has kept my weight down, my check ups good I don't deny myself some treats. If you like ice cream, and who doesn't, try a line of ice cream called "Skinny Cow". It's quite good.

I have two blogs started and neither finished. Maybe by later today. If I can tear myself away from the washing machine and the couch. I have worked so much the last couple of weeks that I don't feel like doing anything. Sorry I seemed to have written my blog here.
    Take care my friend.

  5. The battle to eat healthier has been raging here since my doc at the VA ordered me to lose 10 lbs....and I didn't. He said that I hadn't gained any so that was a plus but still......My southern upbringing just doesn't jibe with dieting. Everything I love is now taboo but I guess I'll survive.
About an inch of wet snow here this morning. Not a welcome sight after temps in the 70s last week!

  6. Hi Beth,
We have so much in common. Before Dean fell ill, I never had a minute's trouble falling asleep. Dean said I could sleep on nails. But, something happened in those months I slept lightly and was often sleep deprived and I don't sleep at all well anymore. I read long into the night and am up by 7:30 a.m. and I'm not a fan of turkey either. I love the stuffing and the turkey gravy and turkey soup the next day. Glad to hear your weather is warming up. I'm ready for warm weather also.
    Betty

  10. In the past year, I too have noticed an increasing restless in getting and staying asleep. Doc says more exercise during the day will help with some of that, and she is probably right - just have yet to make that happen on a regular basis. Also have been doing a bit of research online for other helpful hints: eating a banana, drinking decafe hot tea, turning the TV, computer and other noise making items off and stop reading - a half hour before bed time. Write down those things that are on your mind (that helps me sleep a little better, then I'm not worried about forgetting them overnight). They some times help, but not always. I am going to make an extra effort on adding the exercise routine. Take good care and good luck getting that much needed rest.

  11. Actually it was things like that which started me to listening to music when I went to bed. It usually works well. These are troubled times without a doubt. Peace to you my dear friend.

  13. I've had nights like that too. Sure wish we came with an on & off switch. Some nights I get up, walk around the house, look out the window and even turn on the tv for awhile. Then I go back to bed and fall asleep, just like that! It's kind of like a reset button.

  15. Gosh, I was having that problem last night. I was yawning so much while watching TV, I thought I would hyperventilate! So, I went to bed and couldn't get comfortable. But I must have finally gone off to sleep,'cause the alarm woke me up! The hard part of eating healthy is trying to get enough fiber in whatever diet you happen to be doing. Just started a LOW-carb diet and NEED all that extra fiber. Determined to lose some of this extra weight...

  16. I have done that too many times. But I have a cure now. I'll email about it. No, it's not an prescription thing.

  17. I usually have no problem falling asleep once my head hits the pillow after a full exhausting day, but lately it's been a little different. I too toss and turn. No fun. Personally, when it happens, I grab myself a book. Something far away from all the troubles and issues of my daily life and just read quietly for half an hour or so. That usually does the trick for me. Or, I throw on my headphones and fall asleep to tunes playing on my ipod. I do hope that you get to having much better nights/sleep and soon.
    Good o'l Mrs. Dash... :)

  18. I know the feeling well, Beth, It seems I can fall asleep to a noisy programme on TV but get myself settle in a quiet bed, and I'm suddenly wide awake, and this arm doesn't go there does it? Where on earth does that leg usually go? Nothing feels RIGHT!!
SO I have to get up , get a cold glass of milk (and a cookie, gotta have a cookie, or the milks too wet without) and then try again.
Hugs, X Pen and Her Maj X
