What happened to Spring??

It is cold outside!  37 degrees right now and windy with snow flurries.  What happened to the 60 and 70 degree temps we were enjoying last week?  Well, let it never be said that I let a chilly, breezy day keep me from going shopping.

First off to pick up my daughter then on to buy lotto tickets.  The Mega Millions jackpot right now is $312 million and the Powerball jackpot is at 125 million.  Then we went on to Sears to the final few days of the going out of business sale where I bought 3 pairs of shoes.  Next to McDonalds for a fish sandwich and a diet coke, then to Dollar General to pick up a few things, finishing up at the gas station to fill up the car.  Gas at most stations around town this morning is $3.65.9 a gallon.

By this time I have missed Y&R so I turn on the DVR to watch it.  Then this thought came into my mind to call ITV-3  to ask about their triple play pricing for cable, internet and telephone.  Wondering if by doing this I could finagle Comcast into giving me a better deal.  Turns out I can get exactly the same cable lineup, with DVR and unlimited phone for $45 per month less.  So now I have a bargaining chip to use with Comcast.  We will see if it does anything.  Winking smile  You know that old thing about not holding your breath?  Believe me, I am not holding my breath.

Miraculous day yesterday.  I was scheduled yesterday for a thyroid biopsy at a large hospital in Peoria.  Large enough that they have valet parking and trolleys inside the hospital.  Anyway back to the miracle.  I was on the table and in the gown awaiting the doctor.  I told the nurse that I had this same biopsy done in December of 2008.  My primary doctor’s nurse had copies of my previous ultrasounds but had not forwarded them on to the Doctor in Radiology.  Now getting back to the miracle.  The nurse told the doctor this and he came in and told me to wait a few minutes while he made a call.  He spoke to my doctor and found out that the nodule had not grown any in 2 years.  The doctor came back in and told me no biopsy was necessary, just to have another ultrasound in 1 year.  He told me to go home and enjoy myself and furthermore, there is no charge for today’s visit.  Then he went to the waiting room and spoke to my daughter.  This doctor whose name is Dr. Moresco has restored my faith in doctors.  I applaud him for his integrity.  I now have a new favorite doctor.  I asked him if I could use his name in my blog and he gave his permission.

I think all of this activity this week has worn me out.  I plan to sleep in tomorrow morning.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Red heart  Beth

  1. Oh how wonderful. There are doctors out there that care about the patients and the unnecessary extra expenses and test. Pray you have the same good fortune with Comcast. I just got one from Charter and theirs is $10 more than I'm paying now. What's up with that?

  8. Fantastic news about no biopsy being necessary Beth, I bet you felt so relieved you could have kissed Dr Moresco, what a weight off your mind. It must have been a wonderful moment.
Now all you need to do is get the upper hand with Comcast and bargain away for a better deal. As you say, don't hold your breath BUT the whiff on losing a customer will surely get them motivated. Best of luck, my friend.. and hugs from me and Her Maj.xx

  11. Spring has hidden its face around here too...I see we're way above the jet stream so I figure that's why. Wouldn't it be something to win that kind of money? I have to admit that I wonder if it wouldn't really be the ruin of whoever gets it though. I am so blessed to hear the great report from the doctor for you! That's call to celebrate!

  12. Yeah! It always seems so rare to find a really great doctor these days. So glad they decided to save you the pain and expense in favor of common sense! I'll bet your doc is an older guy, right? The young ones needs to take a page out of their elders' books! Enjoy that it IS spring and soon the weather will cooperate! Although it's been rainy here, we are expecting lots of sunny, warm days this coming week!

  13. Blessings my friend.....
Tuesday March 21 was spring, people had spring coats and walked jovelily on the streets. Wednesday March 22 it was snowing, the wind was mighty and everyone was trekking through mounts of snow, ducking ice patches and have their coat collars pulled up to their necks as they hurried on to their destination. March 23 was more snow, the 24th their was no snow but the wind had a grand old time slapping people around and bitting them in places they forgot they had. Spring has retreated and winter is once again baring its claws. Next week promises to be spring again. Till then we just grin and bare it.

    congrats on your 'non-biopsy'
    Peace.....

  15. Hi Beth,
I'm happy to find you on eblogger also. You were the first person to comment on my old Spaces blog in March of 2006 and I really needed that contact at that time. Thank you. Yes, we had so much in common and still do.
Glad you did not have to have a needless biopsy. Hope you are well.
    Betty

  16. That's great news for you Beth Marie.. I've got an appointment to see a surgeon on Wednesday, I'm feeling nervous about it I don't have much faith in the medical profession these days either... I was happy to hear your good news, what a relief it must have been for you as these tests can be very invasive and we are left feeling sore and battered for a few days... I'm not looking forward to Wednesday....
