And the countdown to spring …

is 64 days.  This morning it is partly sunny and the temperature is 36 degrees,  It is to get up in the 40s today with rain by afternoon, then more snow predicted for later in the week.

I am here waiting impatiently for a call back from the doctor’s office about the allergic reaction to the med I started last week.  I hate talking to the nurses and the doctors.  They somehow make you feel like you have done something wrong because you have a reaction to something.

My niece in WV just got out of the hospital yesterday after a 4 day stay.  My sis and I have a list of doctors that we call Dr. God.  These are doctors who care not one whit for you as a person and see you only as a number.  My list of Dr. Gods is growing longer each day.

Last month when I saw my primary care doctor I showed her a letter that I had written to myself outlining all of the doctors I had seen since my hospital stay the first part of October 2011 and all of the different meds I had been prescribed, I further described how I felt like I was being jerked around by these doctors like a yoyo.  She asked if she could keep the letter and I told her yes.  As I was leaving she came over and gave me a big hug and told me she was sorry.

Consider this my Wednesday rant.  Then you all stop and take the time to stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. I sure hope your DR. gets it sorted out for you. You can also check out the drugs online and not take their word for anything. I don't and I don't take the drugs that I know I don't need. The nurse knows way more than the DR. does about the drugs. Needless to say, I'm not a good trusting patient. Didn't mean to rant here.
It's rainy here in the 50's.

  2. The idea that it's always your fault I find appalling. Just what a patient needs when they are already ill...add a little guilt and it just makes things worse. I hope you get things worked around. It seems that the answer to everything these days is medicate, medicate, medicate and when you do that it's bound to increase the risk for reactions...that certainly isn't your fault. It's still snowing here and I'm debating trying to walk anyway...I feel the need to get out but seven degrees and a couple inches of snow doesn't seem too fun. Have a good day my friend.

  5. Doctors like many professional people sometimes seem to have that 'I'm smarter, better, and to busy to be bothered' attitude. Hope you get these meds under control.

Well I got into your site again. Going to go see if I'm stopped at the others still.

  6. My hubby has seen the same doctor since he was 28 and Hubby is 62 now. His doctor is the same age. Dr. Nichols wears a maroon doctor's coat, and we asked him why one day. He said he wanted everyone to know he is not anything like the others. That is the way he stands out. He takes pride that he doesn't follow the pack. He's a lone wolf. We love him for that. There are good doctors out there that know you as a person, who take an interest in the person that you are and care about you, but believe me (like I said, I have worked in a hospital for 11 years now), they are few and far between. Keep looking for that right one. Maybe he will have on a marroon doctor's coat.

  7. Oh, and thanks for the prayers for Moannie. If you click on her picture on my blog, it will take you to her blog. I met her through her blog. She is in England and writes beautiful stories (read her archived blogs....wonderful reading....makes you feel you were there....I have tried to talk her into gettin her story published, since you can publish them yourself now). She has cancer and where they inserted the IV's, she developed blood clots and has to self-inject herself with meds in her stomach once a day. Terrible....but she just has the best outlook you have ever seen. She is amazing.

  8. Doctors with no bedside manner are the worst. I've dealt with some of those, especially during my pregnancy with Carleigh - you know, the ones who think they are God, when it's clear that they aren't.

I think they need to require some compassion classes in medical school!

  9. I've known some Dr. Gods in my day, too. I hope she actually does something proactive with that list. And I hope they didn't make you feel small for calling...if they indeed did call you back. Arg! Enough sympathy rant.

Hope the rest of your day was good and you have a really wonderful week! :)

  10. Are you with an HMO? I know there is even more of that kind of doctor in those. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Beth. I hope your health situation improves quickly and that you can find a doctor who cares. Bertieblue

  12. Sadly there are too many doctors like that. I think they start out with good intentions but when they realize that the more patients they can get in and out in a hour the more money they can make. taking time with patients means less money to them so they've lost their passion. I hope your luck changes and soon!
Only 65 days til spring? 2 months is all. Why does it seem like winter just got here lol. Must be because it is snowing and yucky outside.
    Take care Beth!
