had to post today because I am on a roll here. I have posted each day since December 1st so I have kind of got in the habit again. I used to post every day when I was on WLS but got out of the habit.
I was out with my daughter this morning, paying bills and running errands. We ate at Grumpy Pete’s aka Eighth Street Station. This morning was a lull in the weather as we are to have a mixture of sleet and snow this afternoon. When I got up this morning the wind chill was 8 below zero and the wind was out there right in my face as I walked to and from the car. But the bills are all paid and the baby doesn’t need shoes and I am not busted. Remember that old song Busted? One of my favorite old songs which goes like this:
Busted written by Harlan Howard
The bills are all due and my baby needs shoes
But I'm busted.
Cotton is down to a quarter a pound
But I'm busted.
I got a cow that's gone dry and a hen that won't lay
A big stack of bills that get bigger each day
The county's gonna haul my belongings away
I'm busted.
I called brother Bill, thought I'd get me a loan
I was busted
Lord, I hate to beg like a dog for a bone
But I'm busted.
But Bill said that "There ain't a thing I can do,
My wife and my kids are all down with the flu,
And I was just thinkin' about callin' on you,
I'm busted."
Now Lord, I'm no thief, but a man can go wrong
When he's busted
The food that we canned last summer is gone
I'm busted.
The fields are all bare and the cotton won't grow
Me and my family's gotta pack up and go
Where I'll make a living, the Lord only, knows
I'm busted.
Love that song. I am going to have to see if I can find it to put it here on my blog on Mixpod.
Other than all of the above nonsense, I am in for the day as it is too darn cold to be outside. The weather is supposed to moderate and be in the 40s by Monday which is good as I have to go for a fasting lab early Monday morning. I hope you all have a great weekend. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
Hope you have a good snow/frost free weekend.

I always dance when I come to your blog. I'm working on getting a playlist up on mine. :)
ReplyDeleteI noticed you have music playing now. I like it!
DeleteIt was 76 degrees here today....toooooooo hot for January. I pity us this summer. We will probably roast again. I remember that song from when I was a kid. I think I must have heard it on the radio. It IS a good song! I think if it was 8 below zero here, I'd have to get online and pay my bills. I don't know how you do it!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know the song though I could recognise it if I heard it. It sounds liks a blues tune though I'm guessing it's more country. Then again it could be a country blues tune. Now I'm babbling.
ReplyDeletePaul, it is playing on here now. Got your speakers turned off??
DeleteHello Beth, thanks for calling, We're not supposed to feed the horses and I don't but many holiday makers do, and it encourages them to get too near cars and they learn not too respect them and that can be fatal.I had to come on here to post Beth as my publish button won't work.
ReplyDeleteGlad things are okay and you got out a bit. The snow and ice are melting slowly, but still so heavy that trees are falling on roads and cars. The temp rose above freezing, but we have storms of rain and high winds predicted for every day next week here in the northwest. At least we can drive when we need to in rain. Now they expect much flooding, but that shouldn't effect us at our location. You take care and enjoy! Bertieblue
ReplyDeleteOh it is cold here too and annoying. You are gutsier than I to go out there. But the bills are paid yet we're busted ;-) I hope it warms up to at least freezing eh?
ReplyDeleteYou would think that I of all people would remember that song, but I don't. It's cold and snowy here. I'm anxious for spring even tho this winter has been good to us.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that was a cute song.
ReplyDeleteCold here, too. 1 degree as I am writing this.
Stay warm and happy!! :):)
Hi Beth, That sounds really cold there were you are, here as I write this its 45.8F.
ReplyDeleteTwin, I love that song! Glad you have the words down here. It's become the mantra for the Country now that all our jobs are out of here and gone to other Countries.
ReplyDeleteThundering and lightening here. It is very like early Spring weather here since Fall. Constant rain, thunderstorms, not hardly any winter ti be seen. Oh it's cold many times but nothing to write home about.
Wierd weather these past few years. xoxox
Ha what a good song Beth never heard that one before. Wet here again and windy... But it's not cold enjoy your weekend Hugs Sheila and Wile-e xx
ReplyDeleteLyrics are wonderful and yes, I remember it well---and being busted. Thanks for memory. Saved it to my list. 6 inches light fluffy snow here - no problem.
ReplyDeleteBrr. That's cold. Glad you can get out. Loved the lyrics, but don't remember the song. Enjoy!
