47 days…

till Spring and the groundhog didn’t see his shadow here so that means Spring is right around the corner or 47 days from now, whichever comes first.

I just went outside and snapped a couple of pics to show you how the cemetery looks shrouded in fog with a temp of 27 degrees.   It is lightening up some now as you couldn’t see anything an hour ago.

This picture shows the tree that I will be taking a picture of each month.  Next shot will be 4 February at 10 AM.

I think I didn’t make myself clear in yesterday’s post.  I moved here from a town of 4300 almost 2 years ago.  It was there that I had a 60 mile round trip to see my doctors and to go to the stores, Meijer, WalMart , Target, etc.  Here most of those places are just a few miles  from me now.  I like it here but I do miss my friends.  I also misspoke when I said the neighbors here didn’t reciprocate.  One of my neighbors moved out at the end of December.  Before she left she put a handwritten note in my mailbox thanking me.  Also 2 of my daughter’s friends (and she has many) that I sent a fruit cake to sent me cards and a gift.   I guess what I was trying to say is that I miss you Sandi and Jo, a lot.

I have to close for now.  I have a doctor appointment later this morning.  Do stay safe and be happy!!

  2. We have a dense fog this morning but I like the way it looks. Gives you that mysterious feeling.

  3. Just got home from Illinois, locked the front door, oh boy! Look at all the happy creatures dancing all around....oh, no, that's a cemetery....better not be any happy creature dancing all around! lol Now you have me singing CCR Looking Out My Back Door! lol

I think it would help your spirits if you didn't live right next to the spririts. lol I think that would be a constant reminder of what is inevitable! You should look for a place to move. lol

I hope the fog lifts and you have a wonderfully sunny, warm day ahead....and those doctors don't give you any new medication!

    1. Actually I like living across from a cemetery. It is very peaceful and a lovely place to take walks.

  4. Oh, so now you are closer to things. You just miss your old friends. That makes sense. Sounds like the new neighbors aren't too bad. ;)

Looks cold and stark in that graveyard. Hope your doctor appointment goes well. You've had so many lately!

  5. It's hard to beat bigger cities for convenience but it can lose something with the neighbors. I well remember your move...they say that's one of the most stressful things a person can go through but I think you handled it brilliantly. I've heard both positive and negative groundhog reports from around the country...I guess that means I can choose! I'll go with early spring thank you very much!

  6. I love seeing the tree!!

I hear you I moved a few towns over and I miss my friends from that town. It was more close knit.

I'm glad you're closer to stores and doc's now.

P.S. yes prescription. I had an eye exam 2 years back and had my paperwork so when I ordered I only had to enter in my numbers.

  7. Here in Pennsylvania he said he saw his shadow - NOT!! It was only the spotlights shining on him, I'm sure. No sun here today. His proclamation isn't correct!

Phil Says 6 More Weeks of Winter!

Hear Ye Hear Ye Hear Ye!

On Gobbler's Knob on this magnificent Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2012, Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators, was summoned from his burrow in the old oak stump by the tap of President Bill Deeley.

At 7:25 a.m. he greeted his handlers, John Griffiths and Ron Ploucha. After casting an appreciative glance toward thousands of his faithful followers, Phil proclaimed:

As I look at the crowd on Gobbler's Knob,
    Many shadows do I see
So six more weeks of winter it must be!

  9. Wow! 4300 people! There may be 800 to 1000 people on my street! On the flip side there are times when I wish I was in a quiet rural enviornment. Still it's nice to have just about everything within a 5 mile round trip. Just plusses and minuses of both kinds of plces.

I like those slightly spooky pictures!

  10. Whoa, I remember reading this and thought I commented. Must have forgot to hit publish. Other than a few years after we married and a couple years between landlords, I have never lived anywhere else. Those couple years were right across the highway and I could cross and be right back here. I just can't imagine living anywhere else.

  11. Mr. Groundhog would have seen his shadow here yesterday, as it was sunny and in the 60's! It's nice when we have good neighbors. We miss our neighbor that used to live behind us. Not that the new neighbors aren't nice, but our former neighbor we'd kind of adopted into our family. I was glad to see her a couple of weeks ago when we went to St. Louis!
