Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain…

YES!!  It is raining here in central Illinois. A nice steady rain for the last couple of hours with hardly any lightning,  God is good!!

From my front door and from the back door where you can also see the ‘tree’ that I take a picture of each month with the cemetery in the background.  Click to make pictures bigger.

Yesterday was a good day for hitting the garage sales.  Hot but humid reaching the mid 90s.  The mid 90s are nothing after the week of 100 – 105 temps we had all last week.

At a garage sale yesterday a boy about 8 with a slightly older sister were manning their garage sale.  (I was praying that the mother was close by keeping a watchful eye on them)  There was a big table of coloring books and young children’s story books, most of them brand new.  I asked the boy how much these books were as I have a 3 year old great great niece here in town (yes, I meant to say great, great) and my daughter is in charge of the nursery at her church.  This boy told me that the more you buy, the better the deal.  He was so serious, I just started smiling.  He really made my day.  We settled on $1.25 for 11 books.  I feel that kid is destined to go far, probably in politics!

I also got a few hardbacks, some DVDs,  and 3 cookbooks.  And a huge new Christmas tin that will be perfect for holding my homemade fruit cake while I have it soaking in the rum.  Less than $10 total spent.  Then my daughter and I ate at Bob Evans.  It was a very nice morning although very tiring.

The rain has stopped now but I am thankful for each drop we got.  I hope you all have a pleasant weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!1

Beth

  1. How good that you have had some rain! Every little bit helps! We are having a little sunshine here this morning, and I don't think there is any rain near us at this point.

It sounds like you had some good finds at garage sales yesterday!

    Enjoy your Saturday!

  2. So glad for the rain coming your way! I love it when the rain cools everything off, washing the dust from the plants and freshening the air.

Good book finds! I went to a couple garage sales yesterday, too, as they were my neighbors! I ended up spending a few dollars for some easy reading books for lazy summer afternoons, and found a cute square table I plan to use as an end table.

  6. Glad you got the rain you needed. Been hotter heck here too. I won't let myself go to a garage sale until I cleaned up my things. I need to have one of my own. Finally got Saturdays off, so with a little planning, I'll give it a go.

  15. With so many in the 'dry zones', I pray the clouds will be sharing with areas in need soon. We're going through a drought this summer, and with the early freeze ruining the fruit crops, it may be that prices for veggies will be going up at the markets. It has been a very strange weather pattern this year.
