About an inch of rain fell last night and it was still drizzling this morning. That didn’t stop me from running errands. I have finally gathered my stuff together to make my fruitcakes and the stuff was more expensive than ever this year.
A little excitement next door a little while ago. My neighbor turned her furnace on for the first time today and her smoke alarm went off at the same time. Something in the furnace was burning that shouldn’t have been.
She called 911 and then the fire truck arrived. When I first saw it I was afraid that an ambulance would soon follow because my neighbors 2 doors down are both in their mid 80s and not well.
And that is enough excitement for me for today!! I hope you all have a peaceful weekend. Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
glad that smoke was not serious!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness that turned out well. Back in the day when we had an old fashioned furnace (gas furnace though) we had something like that happen. The boys were all toddlers. NO fun at all.
ReplyDeleteIt's raining here, too. Have fun making the fruitcakes!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Have a wonderful weekend Beth.

Glad it was nothing serious and all is well. Excitement like that we can all do without!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some rain. We are terribly dry here. Relieved your neighbor is ok!

Its been raining here all day as well. Your neighbors furnace problem sounds like something that would happen to me.. Glad it was not more serious...
ReplyDeleteThe ingredients for fruitcakes have always been pretty pricey; I can only imagine nowdays.
ReplyDeleteThankful your neighbors are ok.
I wish you a restful evening and a good weekend. Mildred
That's so scaring when you open the door and there are fire trucks outside. Glad it was nothing serious.
ReplyDeleteHave fun making your fruit cakes.
So glad your neighbor is OK. I might make my European Cake, haven't decided yet. Glad you got rain.
ReplyDeleteBlessings....
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely lovely pumpkin patch cutie!
Hope you are well and speeding to a full recovery. A little rain is good isn't there?
Well that is excitement! Glad the neighbors are okay and it was just the furnace! Hope you're having a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone was okay!
ReplyDeleteso glad it was nothing more serious then the furnace, you can never be too safe when it comes to those things, hope you have a wonderful weekend with less excitement
ReplyDeleteThat same thing happened to my daughter last year when they turned on their heater. The heater coils burned up and the smoke alarm started screaming, and they couldn't get it to shut off, so they called the fire department. It was too much excitement for them! They were glad the fire department knew what was causing the alarmt to go off!
ReplyDeleteWhen do you plan to begin baking your fruitcakes? I know it's time to start just so they have enough time to "marinate.":)
ReplyDeleteYou certainly had an exciting beginning to your day! It's good there wasn't anything more serious going on with someone!
So glad everything turned out ok.. I'm happy I found this Blog, didn't know about it.. It's beautiful and I'll be your new follower on it too..Hugs, Susie
ReplyDeleteglad it wasn't too serious and everyone is safe!
ReplyDeleteScary! I'm glad everything and everyone was alright! Yes, enough excitement for one day. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's the kind of excitement that nobody needs.
ReplyDeleteFruitcake is quite expensive to make. I bet it will taste great though.
Glad it wasn't too serious!!! That furnace going on for the first time is always a nasty business. Ours likes to set off our alarms as well. Thankfully we don't have to turn it on often:)
ReplyDeleteI'am glad nothing with you and everybody with your family too.
ReplyDeleteToday has still sick of a cold rains day.
Oh, my. I'm glad everyone is okay! Scary! It sure has been chilly. I even turned on the heat! That is rare for me in October! Stay safe & warm...& well. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteGlad it wasn't a big fire and everyone is okay! Enjoy making your fruitcakes!
ReplyDeleteHave you calmed down now? LOL all that excitement, still it was a good thing that no one was hurt and it was a bit of a false alarm. .Enjoy your weekend. No doubt you'll be baking your Christmas goodies. MMM.yummy.
ReplyDeleteI have lived through a fire. It was pretty scary, waking up in the morning one day before Christmas to find your building on fire. Nobody was hurt but it was a terrible inconvienence for all.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that nobody was hurt!
ReplyDeleteOH how scary glad no one was hurt Beth.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your coming week.
Hugs Sheila xx
Vrooom. Vrooom. One of the oldest professions that still make house calls. I have to say, I am partial to the red and white chariots!!! Can I have this pic to add to my collection? The name of the Fire Department? :)
ReplyDeleteIt happens. Unfortunately. But hey... no one was hurt and that is what matters. Things could certainly have been worse.
